오늘은 우리 친구들한테 곱창을 소개하려고 왔어요
Today I’m gonna be introducing ‘Gopchang’ to my friends
개인적으로는 전 곱창이 뭔지 알았을 때
Personally, when I found out what it was (Cow intestines)
좀 이상하다고 생각했는데
I thought it was weird
이제 먹어보니까
But after trying it
너무 맛있어요
It was so damn good
그래서 이 친구들도 무슨 반응일지
So I’m really curious about how they’ll react
좀 기대돼요!

What we’re eating today is called ‘Gopchang’
오늘 우리가 먹을 건 ‘곱창’이라는 거야
Have you ever heard of that?
들어본 적 있어?

안 들어 봤어?
It’s actually cow intestines
이건 정확히 소 내장이야.
Cow intestines?
소 내장이라고?

So when I first heard that there was like cow intestines
나도 처음에 소 내장이라고 들었을 때
I thought it’d be terrible but actually when you eat it it’s really really nice
생각으론 막 징그럽고 그랬는데 직접 먹어보면 무지무지 맛있어
Have you ever eaten cow intestines before?
소 내장 먹어본 적 있어?
Not as far as I know

So here we are
네 도착했습니다
There’s a few different ways you can eat it
이걸 먹는 데에 몇 가지 방법들이 있어
It’s called ‘Gui gopchang’
이건 곱창 구이야
‘Gui’ is like ‘grilled’
구이라는 말이 ‘그릴드’라는 말이거든
So this is grilled gopchang
그러니까 그릴드 곱창이라고 할 수 있지
And the way you can see it, it’s like the intestines are round
그리고 지금 보다시피 내장이 동그랗지
Like that

And you always eat it..
그리고 이걸 먹을 땐 무조건
Well you generally, you usually eat it with soju!
무조건이 아니라 일반적으로 보통 소주랑 같이 먹어
I don’t really like soju
난 소주는 별로야
Like, I drink it
마시긴 마시는데

그럼 다시 곱창 얘기로 돌아와서

It looks like mushrooms
버섯 같이 생겼는데
Yeah, it looks a bit like mushrooms
그래 맞아, 조금 버섯처럼 생겼다
Yeah?

And a bit sort like the..
그리고 또 비슷한 게 뭐 있더라
A bit like those sort of.. squid rings or something?
아니 생긴 게 꼭 오징어 링 같아 보여

Because it’s already cooked we better dig in
이미 다 구워졌기 때문에 일단은 들자
But have a smell of it first as well
하지만 일단 냄새부터 맡아봐
Because the smell of it is quite unique too
왜냐면 냄새가 이게 또 특이하거든
Smells like bacon
베이컨 냄새가 나
Yeah?
그래?
Like British pork bacon
영국 베이컨 같은 냄새가
Yeah it’s.. Wait a minute, hold on.. hold on..
그래, 그렇긴 한데 잠깐만
I think it smells a bit like crackling (roasted pork skin)
난 이 냄새가 돼지 껍데기 냄새 같다고 생각해
Is that the one? Yeah?
동의해? 동의해?
That’s what it is!
딱 그 냄새다!
Yeah, that is what it is
그래 그 냄새다
Give it a bit of a dip in the red sauce, bit of pepper
여기 빨간 장에 살짝 찍고

난 이게 먹기 전에는
Really tough and chewy
엄청 질기고 한참 씹어야 될 거라고 생각했는데

But it’s actually quite tender
그런데 사실 엄청 연하고

나도 이거 정말 좋다
So this is a food that a lot of business men will come and eat
이게 많은 회사원들이 와서 먹는 음식이래
After a long day at work
하루 종일 힘들게 일 하고 난 후에
They’ll come with their friends, have soju, hit down the gopchang
친구들이랑 와서 소주 마시고 곱창 먹고
It’s good for your skin, it’s got a lot of iron and vitamins
이게 피부에 좋대, 철분이랑 비타민이 많이 들어있어서
It’s really good for you
몸에 좋대
Does it taste how you expected it to taste?

To be honest, you said that you liked it but..
솔직히 너도 이걸 좋아한다고 했는데
