It's a great day when Mapal posts a new AE tutorial. Quick tip on centering anchor points more efficiently - with the layer selected, hold ctrl and double click on the pan behind (anchor point) tool. Hope I could help

3:16 Hey bro, there's a faster way to put the anchor point in the middle of a comp. The Shortcut ist called: "Center Anchor Point in Layer Content" (+ There is also a Shortcut for putting it in the middle of the View: "Center Layer in View") I use this in every one of my projects and it helps me save a lot of time!

Practice will get you further than anything else. Courses and youtube videos are great for learning different things and the basics. However, experimenting and practicing is the best way imo

Comes down to personal preference really. I like Mac OS over windows and I’m more comfortable with it.
