Fantastic Song Cunnumulla Fella written by Stan Coster and wonderfully sung by Slim Dusty! Been to Cunnumulla once back in 1999 stopped at one of the pubs for Lunch think I had Garlic Prawns from memory nice Queensland town Used to be a Railway Line there from Charleville some years ago!🙂🤠🎙️🎸🎼🎼🎼🎵🎶🐂🐑🚇🚃🚃🚃🚃🛤️🇦🇺
Lol! I live in Cunnamulla, and I know how the song came to be written. Basically, Slim & co booked our local Shire Hall, and put posters up etc. Only about half a dozen people turned up. Slim & co then decided to 'front' people as to why they didn't turn up (read 'hard sell' tactics), and they were told in no uncertain terms "F**k ya, you don't sing about US!" Needless to say Stan Coster did a marvelous job writing this song, and here in Cunnamulla it's our local 'anthem', and Slim Dusty has been held in high regard ever since!
Me too, Slim was far too modest to go asking people y they didn't turn up. Stan wrote that song and Slim just left the next morning, THEN!!, Slim recorded and released the song, and the rest is history
There are only two types of people in the world, Slim Dusty Fans and those who won't admit cheers Pedro (my fishing mates have heard this a few times lol)
