    Yes they did make a 2.6 liter 300E... not sure about the 2.8 (not in the US that's for sure). Other countries have different models as well. Mostly 4 cylinders and more with the manual transmission option. In the US almost all automatics except 2.3 model and 190E Cosworth (aka Cossie)

    Believe me I know. I have owned most W124 variations. M119 4.2 V8, M103 3.0, and M104 3.0 DOHC both in W124 and W202. And I repair these cars as well as BMW, Audi, and VW.

    @RepublicOfEpicness the reason it called E 320 after -93 is because they made a 3,2L instead of the 3,0L. so 300E 3,0L 12v (180hp) became E 280 2,8L 24v (193hp)
    300E 3,0L 24v (220hp) became E 320 3,2L 24v (220hp)
    230E 2,3l 8v (132hp with catalyzer) became E 220 2,2l 16v (150hp) etc.. the 3,0L petrol was made until -92

    alright, every data ive seen the 300 has 187bhp without the catalyst, and so does it say about the 24v having 220hp, but i guess they arent exact numbers, i mean by now the cars are used and none have those figures anymore..

    Actually the M103 (sohc) 3.0 is 177 HP and M104 (dohc) 3.0 is 214 HP. The 300CE was the "flagship model" thus had the M104 (1990) before any other model W124.

    Stickers or if someone steam cleaned the engine isn't a real concern, but was the wire harness ever replaced? These are known to go bad from exposure from the elements and engine heat. The wire housing gets baked and cracks then you get shorts or poor signals to sensors and ECU.

    ok cool, then i wont argue with you. i was planning to perhaps buy a w124 diesel in the future, would be nice with automatic but they are kinda hard to get if it isnt a turbo diesel. :P
    I drive a 240D w123 -83 now which i brought home from a field
    after sitting 3-4 years. ;)
    we used to have an E 320 -94 with manual, and my grandpa has had an -88 230E auto ever since i was born, he still got it but its in the woods now since 6 years back, but that car works despite 400 000kms! :)

    Yea the M103 will last a very long time, like most all Mercedes over engineered engines of the W124 era. Typical the head gaskets starts to seep oil into the coolant over 200k miles. Not enough to cause overheating or compression lose but should either replace head gasket or flush coolant periodically. I product called Blue Devil might work for minor head gasket seeps.

    wikipedia, yeah those stats came from there aswell. searching w124 all the models come up. but if you search in the english/american vers. it says w124 was only made between 1986 and 1995. :P i dont think it is that reliable. ;)

    didnt we already spoke about this?

    @Philip.Magnusson 13 лет назад

    @RepublicOfEpicness it just seems unlikely that a 300 is a 3,2L. as i got it the 300E 24v (3.0) 1989-1992 there after the E 320 24v (3.2) 1993-1996. but i think ive already stated this.

    They loosely call it the 300CE, instead of E320 coupe. Same with 300TE, instead of E320 wagon. Just shorter for people to say. Like saying; "TE"... you know it's a wagon.

    i doubt that benz's have got less safe than they were in the 1990's.
    if anything i'd say that with ESP etc new benz's are alot safer now

    Nice car, but I hv a 86 500SL 107 with manual roof, hence no need to repair the hydralics of the elec roof.
    My 107 has only done 33600 miles, the roof has never really sen the sun as the hardtop is so heavy it takes 3 musclat man to remove.
    I m going to use the car with top down miore later.
    As for this CE so say the 220 is actually a better one as less heavy engine hence more durable as far as maintaince is concerned!

    i hate how americans mess up the model names! i heard he said 3,2l its a 320 not 300, they stopped making in -92 and theres no such thing as 300E 2,6 or 2,8 or 300D 2,5 they are 260E, E 280 and 250D!
