Another (BETTER) Poseable Body for American Girl Dolls!

But if you want to see that same body in a side by side (by side) comparison with ANOTHER poseable body, this is the video for you. I'll show you three dolls all attempting the same poses so you can see the pros and cons of each one. Bonus? If you're unsure of how to remove your American Girl's head, or your Our Generation head, OR how to put your AG head on an OG body, I did a better job of capturing that on film this time around.

Yay - it just looked so silly. And some of those bendable dolls come with shorts or short skirts. Who would be posing them without covering up the knees?!?

Aw, thank you! I would LOVE for AG to make some articulated dolls - not to switch over completely, just to give us a few options if we want more natural posing possibilities :)

Hi Kristie, Happy Birthday! This was a fun demonstration. Some very creative options for photography for sure. I have actually found OG dolls like these at my local thrift stores. I may consider picking one up to play around with. Your reaction when you first bent the legs of the OG doll was hilarious. 🤪😂. I do love that last pose with Gabriella reading on the floor. Adorable. Thanks for your great and practical ideas!
You should totally pick one up if you find one on the cheap. So worth it to have some extra options :)

YES!! I got a white doll in the same body in the mail yesterday (same ebay shop) and put an AG head on the body. This morning Gabriela and Alice (custom Joss mold) are seated at an AG table having breakfast and their legs are bent and fit so perfectly and it is just lovely!!

Honestly, if you decide you want it you should just go to that shop I mentioned. They seem to be an overstock sale kind of place, so things are new and significantly discounted :)

Happy belated birthday! I have steered away from the OG "flexi body" because of how odd it looks when bent, but with the clothes you chose it makes it worthwhile to have a few of those bodies to use. You had me laughing right along with you with your reaction when you first bent the OG doll leg and elbow. And your commentary about the dolls on the toilet made me outright snort-laugh. And I must say Wow your Gabriella is gorgeous.

Ohhh this body actually looks even better - well I guess that’s the point lol. The way the limbs bend can look a bit odd. But when you cover it all up, it looks fantastic!

I love seeing the different bodies and how they pose. I would be interested in seeing a video in the future on how each body holds up. I am curious because I have had a doll with the limbs like the ballerina body but over time they became loose. As well as I have a my life as doll with possible limbs but they are made of wire and snap after a while.
I will definitely keep you all updated. I plan on using and bending these bodies a lot, so if I break one, you'll know. Also, tbh if it breaks after two years I will absolutely consider it worth it. Now...the harder plastic jointed ballerina doll - that one I *did* feel more nervous about breaking. Plus she was shiny. Plus she is harder to find. Plus less range of motion? No thanks. This one is the clear winner for me.
Excellent video.. I think the OG body is the best , just slip on loose jeans/pants , and especially baggy sweatpants is great . I have a thrifty OG doll, and I didn’t know they bend , I checked , and mine does. I’m gonna sacrifice her for photos … When you’re able I’d like to see the “Mr.Super clear” results , because I never considered that . I collect Blythe dolls, and some of their face molds are “hard-extremely shiny hard plastic” I can’t stand . I’ve always used “Krylon clear Matte Finish”, it’s less expensive, and if it’s sprayed evenly it gives a beautiful matte finish, shine all gone .
I've never used MSC or the Krylon you mentioned on a doll. It makes me a bit nervous. But I did buy a white doll with the same kind of bendy body as the Rashida doll, so now I'll probably mainly use that one for the fair-skinned doll heads :)

Interesting. I agree that the one that has totally bendable knees and elbows is the best. As you stated you can work around the poses. Either arrange their hair or place an object in front of them to cover "the weirdness" of the joints. Besides kneeling (looks great) my biggest dislike about AG dolls is that they can't sit (bend their knees). I had to tie my granny AG doll (custom) on that toilet to get a more natural pose and so she didn't slide off. She still looks a little stiff. As far as outfits how about tights and a longer skirt that would hide their knee joint when sitting or kneeling down ? Very nice video; full of information and opens the possibility for me to make photos with more natural poses. Thank you.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. And the great thing is how readily available and affordable these dolls are. I got a bendy white doll, took, just to have a couple of options for picture time :)
This was a fun video! What better way to spend your birthday morning other than to make doll videos lol. I was cracking up when you said she’s peeing herself and the floor 😂😂. I still can’t believe I have the same doll in my attic. Since my dolls, smoke and drink booze I definitely need to have a doll (maybe dolls) that can work with those types of poses. I like the idea of being able to set up different poses. Thanks for this video 😊

LOL I have one of those dolls and I don't like the look when you bend their limbs. You have to pick your poison on this one and only use long pants and long sleeves. She really looks cute and it will be great for your photography. The video was fun never thought of all the different ways we could pose the doll we have.
Someone commented in the live chat that they had a doll like that pose like she was kneeling before the toilet (to vomit) and that made me think of so many things - pregnancy results, food poisoning, a few too many drinks, etc. And that's just one very specific pose with one very specific prop. Possibilities are endless :)

You're very welcome! I got a second doll (same type of bendy OG one, just white) from that shop yesterday. In both cases, shipping was fast, the dolls were well packed, and no issues at all.
The peeing ones and the Corinne and her lesbian embraces with all her 3 girlfriends has me LMAO.

I had one of these dolls for a while but I found the wire frustrating. I don’t know how to explain it but there’s a kind of charm in how limited ag dolls are
I get that. I'm not sure I'd make it a permanent switch for any of my AG dolls. But I do LOVE the added possibilities. Having these as spare bodies - for me - is like having spare wigs for the dolls. I don't have to commit, but it opens up so many more options :)
Her arm bending reminds me of Harry Potter when he gets hurt and the teacher did a spell on his arm and their was no bones at all. That's what it looks like. Before his bones grew back.
Poor Harry, at the mercy of incompetent Gilderoy. Maybe there's some Skele-Gro in that doll's future, too.

The ballerina doll body has hard limbs and it was the Jess mold head (I mistakenly called her Kimi but she's Pru - oops!) Gabriela's body was from the currently-available doll Rashida.
@@agtakesover oh okay awesome!! So Rashida is the best body comparing both the ballerina and the bendable one then. I just sold a bunch of bendable OG dolls too. I will have to buy one of them to try this!!
@@WhimsicalReborns I think the softer bendy ones give the most flexibility and they're not shiny, so for photography purposes, those are my winners. I got Rashida and Rayna (she was just delivered today) from that ebay store i mentioned and together they were still less than the cost of one of them directly from target.
@@agtakesover that’s where I’m going to get mine from I think too. I just saw the ones that I sold at the resale store for $9.99 today too. I see them at resale stores a lot.
If I remember correctly🤔 they have a little motion in the body that allows the head to look tilted ,u shud give it a try❤❤❤
They might, since that piece was snugly in the OG doll's head. I imagine it won't work on the AG dolls because the hole in their head is larger and that plastic part from the OG body won't be SNUGLY fitted in the AG head.
@@agtakesover Thts true but I think if u bend the tummy it might help make it look a little tilted, but since it’s not snug u might be right 🤷🏽♂️

It's funny, I always go for articulation in smaller dolls like rainbow high, but somehow in anerican girl size dolls I'm so usesd to them not having the articulation that it doesn't bother me one bit. I kind of like the simplicity i guess!
Nothing wrong with that. It's not like I stare at all my AG dolls and feel disappointed. And I wouldn't want AG to SWITCH to articulated bodies. But I *would* like for them to create a few articulated bodies, because I'd buy dolls in different skin tones and head swap at my convenience. I think I'm excited about the *options* this gives me for the times when I want a certain kind of photo shoot or scene.
I ordered a doll from target I figured out if you search posable doll there's lots!

There definitely are lots. I like the overstock ebay store I found because I was able to buy two of them (one light skinned that arrived yesterday and the darker skinned one from this video) for *less than* the cost of getting one of them directly from Target. :)
Do you think you could try to put a Positively Perfect doll head on another body? Their faces are so cute but those bodies are not it. They’re more suited for preschoolers.

Probably too big because they are 22 or 24 inches, not 18... but My Twinn dolls have very nicely articulated bodies.
Yeah, they're definitely probably too big, but I do love the possibility of more articulation like that. The thing is, I don't want AG to SWITCH. In general, I'm very happy with the AG bodies. I just wouldn't say 'no' to them offering a Limited Edition or something like a CYO option to have a few articulated bodies in their offerings.
@agtakesover it would be cool if they could bend the vinyl like barbie dolls. They dont have visible joints, but their knees and elbows have 3 points of articulation. Or at least the Barbies I had as a kid did. I dont know about now.
