War in Sudan | DW Documentary

  • The worst humanitarian and displacement crisis in the world right now is in Sudan. The World Food Programme says nearly 25 million people are facing acute food shortages - all driven by a war that has received little international attention.
    Aid organizations warn that the dimension of the crisis surpasses those in Ukraine, Gaza and Somalia combined. The conflict has been running since 2023, pitting army chief and de facto president Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan against his former deputy Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, leader of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, or RSF. The fighting has displaced 12 million people, roughly a quarter of the population. Yet, the crisis is barely present in the international media. That’s partly because journalists are rarely given access to the war zone. But DW correspondent Mariel Müller managed to secure permission to film from the Sudanese army. Embedded with military forces, she traveled to the capital Khartoum, where the paramilitary RSF control swathes of territory and the battle for dominance continues to rage - leaving the civilian population trapped in the crossfire. And the conflict shows no signs of ending soon.

Again comes the colonizers to destabilize and turn black folks against each other again, what's gonna be different this time around.... Why not make the united states of Africa.... USA 🤣 with one president, maybe ibrahim traore, build the military of Africa, he seems like a great fit anything else will likely lead to previous results, destabilization, exploitation and enslavement ..... Same thing happening here, history repeating itself at the expense of segregated people....

      the RSF are a bunch of monsters/gangsters, but they get alot of support from the UAE and others in exchange for gold. They recruite or kidnap people from chad and other countries in this endevour. And they play god, killing, looting, comitting genocide, warcrimes and getting paid for it. The sudanese armed forces are no saints, but they are not like these monsters. This isn't a Sudanese on Sudanese war, this is a war between a brutal general and a mob of literal bloodthirsty monsters - powerhungry and backed by foreign nations in exchange for gold. The people of Sudan are some of the kindest and loving people on earth. So if you wanna point fingers, read up and put the blame where it belongs. Boycott UAE, talk to your politicians, donate. Just don't infantilise millions of people and question a whole suffering nation of 46 million peoples morality, its insulting. it didn't happen in a vacuume. There is alot of history, there was a recent revolution - the people fighting back after decades under a harsh dictatorship, then the people in power wanted to keep it. the few against the many, but they got the guns, and the guns keep pouring in aslong as foreign nations see profit in it. So yeah, its far more complex than 'a nation with a laps in morality'.

    What is happening in Sudan is very devastating and media coverage is almost none. As a Sudanese, there is much much more to this war that is unknown, for example, in Merowe city in Northern Sudan, RSF militia has been launching missiles at us and they caused great damage to the power station which is supplying electricity to many areas. The targeting is getting more violent each time and what's even worse is that they are targeting the dam, which consequences would be catastrophic. Our families in Merowe are suffering, no elections for a long time and we were very worried about them cause we're outside Sudan and weren't able to contact them. Not to mention what has been happening in Al Jazira state. This war must STOP!

    Let me make this clear as someone from South Sudan. The people in darkur are dark skin and not Arabs, they are aboriginals Nubians. And they in the north where darkur is located, they don’t want to leave their homes. But the Arabs who came into Sudan and started killing and pushing the dark skin people down to the south. Now we have South Sudan there are still people in the north Sudan who don’t want to leave. Also people don’t care because it’s just black and brown people and Ukraine is for some reason on top of the list here, there people can leave and settle in other countries and not be judged. Let it be one of my people and they are invading and didn’t come in legally. A lot of the comments are so stupid people acting like they don’t know why the world is ignoring this. 🙄

      South sudan are nubians, well that a good joke you guys speaks different languages from nubian language. Get this fact you are darker only because you were isolated most of your history unlike the Cushites, somalis and Ethiopians.
      And for the part about people not caring it just that this war isn't really covered like the others in media

    • @Letstalk295
      @Letstalk295 3 months ago

      @ Woow really. We are darker because we were isolated. Wouldn’t we be lighter if that was the case as the sun makes people darker?
      He’s from South Sudan and yes he’s also Nubian because he was raised by a Nubian woman he believes he is also Nubian and that’s ok with me.
      He is an aboriginal from South Sudan The same way I’m also from Iraq because that’s where I was born. My family and I all speak multiple languages 🤦🏾‍♀️ people can be from more than one place. I am also British. But whatever, it’s people like you who do not know history but still speak on it. Also most Somalians don’t even know they are from Africa. And Ethiopian and Eritrean were both colonised. Don’t get why you’re upset. Could it be that maybe you miss understanding my comment and wanted to seem smarter when you don’t know someone else life. Maybe?
      And for the part about people not caring is wild. This says to me you don’t see yourself as black or you think your better then dark skin people as that’s what your mentioned for some wired reason. I care about the wars in Africa and so do a lot of black people who watch African news.
      Also know it’s the dark skin people that will be living way past the white and light skin people. Oh and this maybe very triggering for you, Jesus was black with hair like wool. Dark skin black man. 😊

    • @Letstalk295
      @Letstalk295 3 months ago

      So my comments are being removed by Me Omer. A ooon who’s most likely self hating and triggered from basic facts. This maybe very triggering black people are darker because they are outside not isolated. And I have no idea what you mean about Ethiopians, Somalians and the rest. Your countries were invented it’s why you all look so different to us real darker Africans. 😂

      @@Letstalk295
      I see that most of your responses are assumptions about me rather than direct replies to my statements. So, please take it easy and understand the difference between personal insults and the topic of discussion. First, I am Black and proud of it. Secondly, when I said "darker-skinned," I meant people with purely African features; I do not see them as inferior or lesser than me. I mentioned them only to refer to those who consider them the ideal race.
      Historically, Nubians are the people from the Third Cataract in Aswan to the confluence of the two Niles in Sudan. It has been proven that the Nubians in these areas are genetically linked to the ancient Nubians. So, when you say "the Arabs killed them and expelled them from their lands," it implies that you deny that the current Nubian tribes are Nubians.
      Moreover, believing in an origin without a real connection is nothing more than wishful thinking. If I believe my origin is Chinese, does that make it so? Currently, there is no proven historical evidence linking the Nubians to the Nilotic tribes in South Sudan. So, if someone says he is Nubian and actually has a real connection, that’s one thing. But if he only sees himself that way because of skin color, why abandon your own history and cling to one that isn't yours? The Nilotic tribes have their own history and heroes; there’s no need to feel ashamed of that. If, in the future, a real link between the Nubians and the Nilotic tribes is scientifically proven-which, to my knowledge, does not exist-then I have no problem. But denying the true descendants of the Nubians while having no such evidence is, frankly, insulting and disrespectful.
      Regarding Somalis and Ethiopians, I have never encountered any who deny their African roots or dislike their skin color. Those you've met, we call them "complexed," because no one denies their African origins except them.
      On the point of "why people don't care," I think you misunderstood me. I'm saying that these news items are not well-covered in the media like the Ukrainian news, for two reasons: first, there's no significant interest for the major players (like the USA), and second, those who do have an interest in these events prefer to keep them out of the spotlight. That’s why global coverage remains weak. So, I fail to see how this suggests that I don’t consider myself Black or that I don’t care about Black people.
      Africa has regions that were historically well-connected to the outside world, like Ethiopia and Somalia, and regions that were more isolated, such as certain Nilotic tribes in South Sudan. This historical isolation explains some of the physical differences between groups in Ethiopia and those in South Sudan-where the former experienced intermarriage with non-African populations. This has nothing to do with colonialism, as most African countries were colonized for less than a century, which is too short a time to leave a significant genetic impact. I don’t understand how you interpreted this as me hating Africans or seeing myself as superior.
      Invented countries? "Real" Africans? Strange words coming from someone who claims to care about all of Africa. As far as I know, most countries in the world-especially in Africa-are the result of European partitioning, except for a few like Ethiopia. I’d love to know which "real" African country you are from. 🤣
      A word of advice: being proud of your heritage is a great thing, and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, when you become so fanatical that you start excluding others as "not African enough," you end up sounding like the white supremacists who once argued that even the Irish weren’t "truly white."
      I hope you've read my words and understood what I’m saying instead of making assumptions from your own mind.
