I don't really know how much you know about African American culture but this is an example of it. To help build up each other to success, we got an education. Since many schools at the time were predominantly white and didn't allow blacks, we built our own colleges. Therefore, we also built fraternities and sororities. The Divine Nine, which consist of 4 sororities and 5 fraternities, swept across the nation to every HBCU (historically black college and university). Now it can get more in depth because each college has it's own chapter (or group) but I will save that headache. Simply put, this is a video of the AKAs (Alpha Kappa Alpha). They were the very first African American sorority established in 1908. Their theme is very classy, elegant, and feminine. They wear pink and green, with their pearls. They keep their pinkies and noses to the sky.
