Boys like girls to be straight forward. I don't think you should run your life with the regard of your friends. Just ask him! If he says no, well, the bad thing is that he doesn't like you but the good thing is that you will end your expectations. The longer you keep expectations, the more they would hurt you if things doesn't go as per your expectations. Just know that whatever happens would be a learning experience for you and you should take the experience into consideration to improve further. :)

However, if I am in a really good mood and enjoying the material I usually play the music at a higher volume. Tip: I like to use playlists like this one or more classical music tones because they help me better focus.
