We had a feral cat give birth in our garage and her sweet babies loved to climb up and curl up to nap in the spare tire under the truck bed. We had to check under the truck anytime we drove it. Kittens like to climb up under cars. Especially if the weather is cold, it's warm up in the engine. This happens a LOT, and people always assume the worst, that some horrible human hurled the kitten from a window.
Awful people to dump those kittens! My Linnea was dumped the same way as a kitten. She is one of the most loving and friendly cat I’ve ever met. I’m glad Cub and Scout now have the chance for the loving homes they deserve!
Those food toys also help if your 🐕 has separation anxiety or tears up the house when your gone, gives them something to do! Poor kittens that was crazy! Plus those puppies don't need anymore skin reactions!!!
I love that Zymox leave on conditioner you used on the gremlin puppies! It is so great for my itchy girls skin, and makes her fur feel soooo soft for so long!
I have accidentally taken a kitten with me. I had no idea it was in there. I wasn't going far and the kitten had room to hide (not in motor). I saw it run off to some nearby houses. There is no way I could have caught it. I do think it might have found a home at one of the houses.
And this is basically how i got my kitten. he was just hanging out by the back door from some unknown source. He was a lot healthier than these two thankfully. I am so happy that you found these two little rascals.

It genuinely could have been an accident. This happened to my husband. We had no idea the kittens had climbed into the undercarriage of the truck. He was on the highway when someone pulled next to him and said that kittens were falling out from the truck. He pulled over to search then came to get me to help. We went back, calling and walking the road but didn’t find them. We were heartbroken. When we got home I tried calling for them and one kitten came running he was the only one left of the four. Bernie lived with us the rest of his life.

I've been told by my local vet that there's nothing we can do and he will die Is there anything I can do to keep him alive and not in chronic pain? (currently he doesn't seem to be in pain, abdominal cavity is filled with yellow high protein fluid.)

I just got two kittens my sister found abandoned on a dirt road. My vet says they're about 5-6 weeks old. People can be so cruel.
Most likely a stray mum moved them where they thought it was save. Unfortunately momma cats don't know that the truck that's nice and warm also moves.
Dogs will eat just about anything. Poor kitties, one hid in the tall grass from the bird, smart. ❤

The kittens seem pretty feral and unused to humans. It's common for kittens to climb up in to vehicles and then fall out on the road.
