watch the movie the man from earth,it gives you that perspective of what immortality is really like if you are the only one immortal. You dont feel any sense of belonging because so many have come and gone in front of you and you are left alone everytime, and you keep trying to make new friends just to see them die in front of you. The protagonist is heartbroken so many times because of the loss of all his lovers over centuries that after a point, he stops believing in the idea of love. And even worse theres no one really who can understand his experience and talk to him. hes so fucking lonely
It's an amazing movie. I've watched it. It scared the shit out of me in the last scene.

This entire discussion about immortality reminds me of this anime called Baccano where the portrayal of immortals was pretty fucked up. Immortals can be tortured. They would still feel pain. The senses aren't going anywhere. An immortal could be tied up, put into a sack full of stones & thrown into an ocean. You won't die, neither will you live. You will just lay there at the bottom of the ocean motionless until someone finds you or the Earth gets destroyed. >_>
