The Meyer-Optik Görlitz Oreston 1.8 50 is certainly one of the most affordable 50mm prime lenses around. It is well made and feels solid. As most other Meyer-Optik Görlitz lenses, it creates a distinct look and feel. The colours, the bookeh and the slight softness give it a definite vintage look. If this is what you are after, don’t look any further. You will not get any better value for money in the 50mm range than the Meyer-Optik Görlitz Oreston 1.8 50. Its’ minimum focusing distance of 33 cm also comes in handy for portraire and close up shots and portraits. Once stopped down this 50mm prime is also a nice outdoor, general purpose lens.
