it's not that she was ashamed. In interviews she has stated that she simply wasn't / isn't a musician. She was a performer paid to play a popstar. Her true passion is acting.
Her songs from her first album (before Britney) were different. Then during her second album (after Britney) she and other popstars suddenly became Britney-ish with their souns and style.
I remember being in the audience for this and everyone booing her coz she was dating Ritchie from five!!! So sad to see!!! I was a huge fan of five too (with Ritchie being my fave) and never booed
It’s so strange that she thinks she wasn’t a good popstar…she is an amazing dancer and her tone/vocals on records were always great! This performance is on level with Britney.
OMG i'd be soooo embarrased if it showed how many times each person watched certain videos. Cause then people would see how many times i watch the videos of Billie Piper.
I’m so mad I only know about this now!!!!! OMG!!! I wish I’d known about this she is so much better than Brittany, why didn’t we know about this???!!!!!
Changing careers and going into acting saved her from becoming irrelevant. Her music career would have fizzled out and actually did if we're honest. Doing what she really loves which is acting saved her career.
Oh don't get me wrong, I love her too, I think her songs were good, but she had help (admittedly from herself) with autotuning... she was never very confident to sing live. Plus it's a well known fact that most saturday morning shows (TOTP CDUK etc...) all turned off the singer's microphones and they mimed regardless of talent... But I do love her better as an actress
I see it. It's the latex red costume and a beat "à la" Max Martin. It is to be said that Billie Piper debuted months before Britney Spears in 1998 and if you watch her debut video you'll notice that she was Britney before Britney. It's kinda impossible to believe that Britney's team knew about Billie Piper, as the latter was a local singer in the UK that had an average success for a year. What they had in common is that they were highly inspired by the Spice Girls, the precursors of teen-pop in the 90's. Billie's debut song slightly sounds like a Spice Girls song and Britney's image/style in her first video "Baby One More Time" is a cross between Melanie C and Emma Bunton. Billie Piper also went to perform this song in Spain in 2001 with a Melanie C's total Sporty look. That's the impact and influence of the Spice Girls in Pop music.
I miss these days... It is interesting to see how obvious lip-synching is. I mean, it's not a criticism - she admits she lip-synchs. But it is fascinating to watch.
Her top gets ripped at 03.13 around the top of her left arm, where the stitching is. Seems it was badly put together or couldn't withstand all the dance moves. Great song. :)
@@MelHeath1991 true, but- you can't deny that this look seemed, at the time, different, and it became an iconic look for Britney's album, yet- here we have Mizz Billie doing her thing, in almost the exact same outfit and style of hair. I, personally, had I been Billie, would have been quite miffed to be honest. Looks like a straight up Hollywood rip, selling it off to the world as "original" when it clearly wasn't.
@@spiritedartwork of course. But I think she shot up too quickly at a young age, like most singers of that time. Billie, Britney, Christina, they were still teenagers when fame came to them, and Billie even said in her biography that she knew she wasn't the strongest of voices, her choices were made for her. Sort of like most kids, she didn't have a voice of her own and it's kinda sad when you look back at it
It wasn't. "What a Girl Wants" was released in 1999. This song was released in the first half of 2000 and I believe that even Oops I Did It Again was released months before.
@crsh2007 you can't say that this was a rip off of oops I did it again, this song was released between britney releasing baby one more time and sometimes. So how you can say it is a rip off perplexes.
wrong I'm afraid. Oops video premiered in April 2000.... and this performance would have come in November of that same year. Britney was an undeniable influence on many young female pop stars of the time
I like Billie Piper, but this performance was too much of a "Britney-Oops-I-Did-It-Again" rip-off with the red leather outfit and the huge dance routine (it came out soon after "Oops, I Did It Again") :S And the performance just seemed/felt awkward, especially to watch! I always feel I need to move my hair out of my face whenever I watch this performance LOL
Billie almost never sang live, she always lip synced, I think she sang live once and it was Honey to the bee... It's somewhere on RUclips, if it hasn't been taken down
How am I only finding this now!? What a triple threat, love her!
It's funny to look back and think about how ashamed she is of her music career. She's honestly a naturally good performer regardless.
it's not that she was ashamed. In interviews she has stated that she simply wasn't / isn't a musician. She was a performer paid to play a popstar. Her true passion is acting.
She also had a eating disorder too so mentally for her its easy to want to forget she still is for me princess of pop 😀
@@bjornjohansen5397 Well she does a really good job here, I think she should have continued with it, she is as good as Britney Spears imo.
Crazy how she was basically the Britney Spears of Britain, shame she didn't push her musical career..
Britney spears was billie of us. Billie came before britney
That’s what I always say and think! How she could he ashamed of her career is beyond me. She was extremely talented.
because she resented the fact that she became a rip off of britney
Her songs from her first album (before Britney) were different. Then during her second album (after Britney) she and other popstars suddenly became Britney-ish with their souns and style.
Her passion was acting. She hated being a pop star because of all of the promotional work that came with it
Nice upload. Billie was a real pop princess. :)
She was the British Britney. Beautiful good dance moves and good music.
she was around before britney
@@jordynsimmons1107 only months before
Love how her choreography is the same as in the video 🥰💃
May not have been live singing but was a nice video
I'm obsest with this song!!
I used to lovvvee this song
I love this song ❤❤
So talented
Love her

A great actress and this was the start. If it was me I'd be proud. As the years have gone on, I've never not liked what's going on!
Love the song but wow she's SO britney here
She's debut same year with Britney, honey but she come first at june 1998, she may be not be biggest stars in usa because she's from uk
I love the quality of this old videos...
wow she is so amazing
Lovely ❤️👏😍🙏🌹
It’s so strange that she thinks she wasn’t a good popstar…she is an amazing dancer and her tone/vocals on records were always great! This performance is on level with Britney.
I love the song and her. ❤❤❤❤
Comentario en español por aqui 😊,la escuchaba cuando tenia 13 😢, me encanta la canción ❤
Rose Tyler from another world 😊
I love her
Oooeee Brilliant Billie "every day n night"
❤ur uniqueness voice n dance 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
june 24 2017....
For those saying she copied Britney here… no, this performance was way before oops I did it again existed
Ummm this came out after oops actually
OMG i'd be soooo embarrased if it showed how many times each person watched certain videos. Cause then people would see how many times i watch the videos of Billie Piper.

I agree with you there. She was ok as a singer but she wasn't overall brilliant. her acting however was and she's going strong even now
***** I love her, Did back then and love her as an actress :) She really shines in that department.
Oh don't get me wrong, I love her too, I think her songs were good, but she had help (admittedly from herself) with autotuning... she was never very confident to sing live. Rose Tyler... is this what you do in the parallel universe?
@GMExcellent I wouldn't she was as big as Britney but there are definitely HUGE similarities! Love Billie & HUGE Britney fan!
I love this song. She and a lot of girl artists around that time reminded me of Britney Wannabes.
Lol ok
Billie came out in 98 with her number 1 song ... because we want to ... she was only 15
Pinkflower5021 yeah the day of girl bands and boy bands, memories! ❤️❤️❤️
Lmao britney who the one copy billie, britney more famous because she's from murica honey

Lovv her
most popular song
even though I wasn't alive then I wish I was
I think that Christina AND even Britney took inspo from her this was way before Oops and What a Girl Wants!
It's not completely unheard of, a lot of artists take inspiration from each other and things that have been heard in the past

Billie has more energy and life in her little finger than Britney has in her whole body!!
I love both, i beg to differ. Britney spears in her prine was superb dancer

Live song not this one tho
Billie only ever sang live properly once, I don't know if the clip still exists but she sang Honey to the Bee.
