But of course Edward is smart enough to figure out Max's plan as Eddie tries to manipulate Max's plan and Shrek himself for his own purposes. This would cause Eddie to become technically the antagonist of the story with Max and Edward constantly budding minds over the upper hand, all the while both having to play along and make sure Eddie wins, using any means possible to win. But then Ed does win with Max then finding out about Ed's plan as a whole with it then being found out that many of the conflicts that happened in the mini series like a attempted assassination of Ed, were planned by Edward in a plot to guarantee his win as well as to gain the upper hand on Max with it ultimately pushing Max in a corner to where Max is now the riddler's puppet and not the other way around like how Max intended it to be. I agree that Max Schreck is an underrated villain. He was a very entertaining villain. I wish he'd come back. Batman Returns is my favorite Christmas film. A lot of people don't consider it a Christmas film, but I do and I love it.
Alexander Smith he could’ve been a business rival of powers and maybe accidentally finds out about his gas and gets exposed making him the new blight but only a one shot villain maybe eventually getting himself killed through his own powers he can’t handle
Great video. As much as I like Schreck, I feel he would be butchered in the comics. Half of the reason he’s so great is because of Christopher Walken. He might make a good villain in a Catwoman comic, though. He’d be more fitting there then with Batman.
Well Mike Myers did play Walken's father in a Saturday Night Live sketch called All Things Scottish 😂😂 Shrek and Shreck, so...... makes sense that they're both layered
I would definitely like to see Max Schreck back in the movies. His look would even translate well in the comics. Could make a good shadow villain. Hire a bunch of people to commit ID fraud and burglary. Have one of his booming businesses be his new ID theft protection and home security service. Would allow us to get more of the Detective Batman as he has to look into the clues and paper trail of who is funding this ID thefts and burglaries. Would also be cool if Schreck went to school with Bruce and asks Bruce to invest in those businesses, which appeals to Bruce’s desire to see a safer Gotham. Also appeals to Bruce wanting to be able to spend a little more time with his brand new fiancé: Victoria Vale. And once Batman finds out that the source Is Schreck, we also find out that Schreck is also funding the league of shadows, and that’s who the security detail for the homes has been. And Max is trained too. So he and Batman can face off at the end. Just have him be younger.
People can dump on this movie all they like, I've heard it all, but Batman Returns is still one of my favorite movies of all time; still my favorite versions of the Penguin, Catwoman, and Batman. And Shreck is pretty cool too. The Burton Batman movies (and at least one Shumacher movie) are like my Star Wars and I'm very grateful that they exist. Without them we wouldn't have TAS exactly how it is. This film was the gateway to surrealism, expressionism, and weird cinema, for me. (although Joker (2019) comes ever closer to rivaling my affections, at least in terms of Batman-related material.)
You bring up an interesting question. Max Shrek in the comics? I say YES. Bruce Wayne needs more foils outside the costume, its why i love him interacting with Lex Luthor. But to have another Gothamite as a layered antagonist to be a target, a manipulator, and Bruce Wayne's main competition
I'm pretty Max Schreck has more dialogue than Batman. Batman's only line of dialogue in the films first half-hour is saying "We'll see" to Commissioner Gordon.
Great video Mr Rogues, although I kind disagree about Batman role being just a "love interest for Catwoman". He has a development in the movie. One of the main themes of Batman Returns is duality and try to find humanity in a dark world, and this theme also applys to Batman's role in the film. The movie showcase the aftermath of Batman 89, in which Batman end up killing the Joker, the one who killed his parents, and the ending was optimistic, with the city respecting him and he and Vick Vale in a relationship, with her knowing his secret, and with that how does this sequel introduce Batman? with him as Bruce Wayne sitting in dark, alone waiting for the bat signal, because this was the result of his revenge : It didn't solve anything. He was still traumatize and driving to be Batman, and as result he lost his humanity ( that is futher confirmed by the fact that later in the movie is revealed that Bruce and Vicky broke up because he couldn't reconcile his dual nature). This all change as Batman confront the villains, Penguin, Catwoman and Max Shreck. All three villain represent in one way or another a part of Batman himself : catwoman represent the part of him that is a vigilante, Penguin represent the part of him that lost his humanity and Max represent the busniessman that Batman pretends to be as Bruce Wayne. Given the circumstances Batman could had become like any of them, specially catwoman, and this is where their romance plays out. Unlike the other villains, Selina is the villain who Batman relates the most since they both use mask and have their secrets. When her and Bruce Wayne start to date, his humanity start to appear. He still tortured but he start once again to showcase his human side from the previous movie. All this results in the scenes where he tries to stop her from killing Max, not wanting her to go to same path he went, to become like him... only to find out that she already is, only much worse than him.The fact that Batman tries to prevent Selina from crossing the line (something that Michael Keaton's Batman in the previous movie wouldn't even have a problem with it) showcase his evolution in the movie.
I dunno, that's kind of reaching. None of that is made clear in the movie whatsoever - except the fact that Batman identifies with Catwoman, based on their odd personaltities and duality. But if that's your interpretation of the movie, that's fine. To me the movie feels like two seperate plots glued together, and with Batman tacked on to both of them.
Mr. Rogues From what the previous post was coming from, it sounds more psychological. When we as humans come across people in life, we may find ourselves relating to them is some form. Some could be in good or bad traits from some events that has happened in our lives. Batman came across these representations that fit a piece of his life. Regardless of the circumstances of how they met. It’s possible there is an overreach here. However, it’s the conclusion I’m going with from the post in question.
As for the comics. We have enough criminal businessmen. But, his son Chip would be a good addition and will try to work with Wayne to help the city economically. His father can be statue in the background.
He did appear in the Batman returns comic alongside penguins circus gang. That counts right? Christopher Walken exudes charisma so much that even minor characters he plays deserve to be recognised.
I love the character of Max because he's sort-of a dark mirror version of Bruce. He's also a philanthropist billionaire but corrupted, a grim reminder of the path that Bruce could have taken. Actually, all 3 villains of the film are a dark mirror of Bruce in their own way... Penguin also comes from a rich family, and also resides in a subterranean lair with animals he identifies with. Catwoman is a survivor of trauma who gets twisted on her road to vengeance...
Ironically, The Penguin was a character specifically created to be a dark mirror version of Bruce, but thanks to Batman Returns, he’s often rewritten as a deformed freak rather then a normal man wearing fancy suits.
Max sChreck was the guy who played the vampire Count Orlok in Nosferatu. A german silent film from 1922 and pretty much the first (and best) vampire film ever. Tim Burton is a big fan of german expresionism so he named Walken's role after Max
Hey, sorry I haven't commented on your vids in a while, but I had to come here when I saw this. I love Batman Returns a lot. While it's mostly for Danny DeVito's portrayal of the Penguin, and the character being rewritten as a grotesque outcast, you've gotta love Christopher Walken too.
Spoiler Warning for Batman returns: I like how Max is willing to die for his son, It's a small moment but it shows that he isn't another heartless villian. Not going to lie, It made me sympathize with him a bit. Also, I thought that Danny Divito was pretty good as the Penguin, but that's just me. Always great to see a new video from you! :) Edit: Made this comment around the 4 minute mark, then watched the rest. Didn't mean to be a parrot.
Imagine his blackcoal fried corpse turned into a undead person and haunting everyone as the new villain . Schreck being the actual full psychological embodiment of the twoface dark side. That would be the scariest Batman movie you could ever imagine.
you seem like quite the batman trivia buff! What do you know of the reference to the reference of "wretched pinhead puppets" ... a quote Danny DeVito spoke in Batman Returns ... was that originally from Screen Writer Daniel Waters? I ask because that is the name of my band. My former bandmate Russ named the band that and I never ask why? He had since committed suicide back in 1994 and now I'm writing a book about our lives, the band, and other topics and thought I should find out what he was thinking when he put those three words together ...Wretched Pinhead Puppets!
I feel Walken did a great job with the Sleezy Business Man. Would like to see Max Shreck return in some form be it DC Animated or even another Batman film though I doubt anyone would pull off the sleeaze like Walken did but then I din't think anyone could do a great Joker like Nicholson and then Ledger and now Phoenix did their own versions so always possible
Max Schreck was always enjoyable in this movie, thanks in no small part to Christopher Walken. I would honestly love to see characters like him and Bob the goon in more DC material. Bob would honestly make a good video to talk about for underrated movie villains, mainly because he is a personal favorite of mine in this film series. In regards to Harvey Dent being in the film: I think he would better serve Schrecks spot if he was running for mayor against a corrupt opponent, take cues from TAS with including Rupert Thorne as a part time crime boss in the wake of the Joker's passing who tries to become mayor in order to gain power over Gotham. Selina could possible be dating Harvey at the time and her Catwoman transformation and push out of a tall building could be from Thorne trying to force Harvey to back out of the race. The whole film could have Harvey losing his calm and cool personality over the course of the film's event, even going as far as him shooting Thorne dead in cold blood during the climax. The final straw could be Harvey trying to help Batman save Selina from her own insanity only to get his scarred face and finally go insane himself.
The character Roland Daggot, from TAS (best known for creating Clayface) was originally supposed to be Max Shreck. And then Daggot hopped to big screen himself in the Dark Knight Rises, the shady business guy John Daggot (or the guy Bane puts his hand on) is actually Roland
While i don't care much of him compared to the other three, I understand WHY he's in the movie. He's there for the other three to play off of, be the middle man so to speak. His goals and misdeeds are what bring The Bat-Cat-Penguin to fatefully meet and engage. Still, even if it was just a rumor, I still would have loved to see Williams portrayed as Two Face. A bit of rewriting, and maybe Dent could have played a similar role to Shreck. Afterall, I could see Penguin blackmail the Attorney to do what he wants and maybe bring out some secrets he has hidden from the populace (both legally and psychologically).
I like this Batman-movie the most only because of Chris Walkens character. Unfortunately that villian is so underrated, everybody is talking only about penguin and catwoman. But Max Shrek in my opinion is the most interesting and strongest character of the movie -at least because of the incredible presence of Chris Walken. He nailed it. ❤
‘Power surplus? Bruce, shame on you. No such thing. One can never have too much power. If my life has meaning, that’s the meaning.’ EVERYTHING Max does in this film is in an attempt to gain more power He literally tells the good guy his evil intentions Great film! I read that Burton based the Max character on Donald Trump Too funny!
I always found it funny how Max would say that people he'd killed or in Selina's case thought he'd killed were on "extended vacation." And in one of the scripts Max was a Cobblepot and Penguin's older brother who hated their parents for throwing Oswald into the sewer so when he was old enough he changed his surname to Shreck to distance himself from the Cobblepot family.
I don’t know about Max but I’d love to see the Poodle Lady make some sort of appearance somewhere. She was super creepy and could be fun if used sparingly.
Damn, the other movie villains were covered 2 years ago? Time flies.... Gotta love Max. I've always felt like his equivalent in the Nolan trilogy was good ol' John Daggett (based on *Batman:TAS* recurring Bat-rogue Roland Daggett), played by the great Ben Mendelsohn. Like Max Schreck in "Returns", Daggett is a millionaire businessman who starts with Catwoman working for him, and she later turns into his enemy. And like Max with Penguin, John also tries to control the movie's "freak" for his own nefarious purposes, this time with Bane. Aaand it also backfires... Daggett doesn't have as much depth as Max Shreck, but I still like them both quite a lot. It might help that I already knew Daggett from TAS, in which his own "freak" is, this time, Clayface (in "Feat of Clay") and in which he also made a bitter enemy of Catwoman in "Cat Scratch Fever" & "Batgirl Returns"... and that he is played by Mr Mendelsohn, an actor that I really like. Keep up the good work Monsieur Rogues, you're on a roll this season!
Well, technically, many of them were covered over 3 years ago! Time sure does fly... Dagget was fine as a slimy supporting antagonist in TDKR. I wish they'd called him Roland though. Thanks!
I understand how if he was Harvey Dent he wouldn't be portrayed right because he was never a lunatic before becoming Two Face, but then again Selina is not supposed to be a nerdy woman that everyone dislikes before becoming Catwoman.
I might be able to understand why he works so well in this movie, but Whatever made him any good in batman returns I doubt would really be that replicatable in the comics. Maybe he could make a cameo in some sort of story but beyond that I’m not sure if theres anything to build from here without changing the characters main thing entirely.
I will admit he was entertaining and surprisingly well-written, and you can't go wrong with Chris Walken. But I'm just kinda eh about canon foreigners in general. I feel like he should've been one of Comic Batman's mobster villains. I admit it'd be cool if he got added to comic canon tho.
Timm and Dini said not long ago that they never considered Shreck for the animated series. But yes, he and Carl Grissom were similar to Daggett and Boyle.
Max the master manipulator of Penguin and controlled the city of Gotham for years. “Selina? Your Fired! And Bruce Wayne, why are you dressed up like Batman?”
I find it funny how after all this time of wondering if I was in the minority of this film that I've found this almost subculture of people in the same mindset as myself, it's great!
The whole movie is underrated it's my favorite film of all time. Alot of people dont know but they had Max Shreck in a couple episodes of the Batman animated series and Walken does the voice.
I really need to rewatch Batman Returns, I know it's not as good as the '89 movie and has some writing issues, but it's so aesthetically pleasing. I do remember Max sticking out even back then, mainly his death scene kinda traumatized me as a kid. I kinda wish he had made a comic appearance now. The Batman series has nut-cases, serial killers, crime bosses-- not nearly enough simple businessmen. Sure, maybe he's a bit too similar to Lex, but I think the slightly more sympathetic angle could make him work.
@@mr.rogues4145 Well I did what I said I would do, rewatched Batman Returns for the holidays. And you know what? I think I was being too harsh on it back then. As an adult, it's really grown on me, even if the plot of Penguin's backstory is a bit out of character, much more suited for Killer Croc in my opinion! I forgot how beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer was as Selina Kyle too, haha.
Just came across a piece of trivia that totally blew my mind: the actor that plays his son Chip is the same guy that played Zangief in the Street Fighter movie.... 😳
Good thing you put him in the underratted as opposed to forgotten category. Because of course we remember Maxie. Even if he could only give us expensive baubbles as opposed to world peace. And yep he deserves a spot in the comics. Course he would be no Christopher Walken there. But ah well.

If they could and would have I could see Christopher Walken as a 90s Dr. Johnathan Crane A.k.a The Scarecrow but this character put me in mind of other Batman villains who corporate companies and other legal and legitimate businesses as a way to exploit the law and to use the law to commit crimes.
Max Shreck Carl Grissom William Earle Jerome Valeska Fish Mooney Theo Galavan Roland/John Daggett Cameron Kaiser Red Claw Kyodai Ken Grant Walker Emile Dorian Lloyd Ventrix HARDAC and Randa Duane Sewer King All gone, but not forgotten
I remember watching this for the first time and being scared by his dead body, did it scare you. I was the reason why i only saw it twice and haven't seen it in a while.
Personally i would use max in a future catwoman movie. (Hopefully the movie would be better than the halle berry one) Maybe not as a main character but an early villain that Selena would defeat
I found it quite intereasting how he surrendered himself for his son in the movie I don't know why but I expected the movie to have him Give up his son but penguin kidnaps him anyway
I feel that Max was supposed to be Batman’s version of Norman Osborn. Interestingly, the producers of Batman: TAS originally wanted to use Max Shreck on the show, but were later encouraged to create the character of Roland Daggett as his replacement instead. I think they wanted TAS to stand on its own despite the fact that they made Catwoman blonde and had the Penguin resemble the DeVito version because of Batman Returns.
Deshawn Edwards what a terrible show. Really is aimed at 13-17 year old. I think if they went with a concept of the just the Legion of Doom daily life would have been great. Harley is my least favorite character so far in the show. The others have been been better. I also do not get why they hold their punches at the “C” word.
I've been wondering about Mr. Rogues opinion on it also. To me, it's a Robot Chicken skit but made for Tumblr, making it automatically pretty bad. They removed Poison Ivy's femme fatale features because "sexy bad", but had Scarecrow making jabs about gay people, which was grossly out of character if not insulting.
SeiMadou Pupuru the only line that made me laugh was the line about bane saying you go girl and he really said ooo go-gurt. That was good clean fun!! 🤪
Based on the second trailer, I thought I would hate "Harley Quinn"... but despite the needless constant swearing, I have actually found myself *really* enjoying this show so far! Can't wait for episode 4, the first 3 were a blast. I'm really happy at how fans & critics alike praise the show so far (well, except in this particular comments thread somehow =p ), it almost gives me hope for the upcoming "Birds of Prey" movie...
I don't overlock Max as a villain, but I never really found him to be that much of a villain. I regarde him as a Cold Cold Heart Ferris Boyle type of villain, the guy that creates the villains and ultimately has to clean his mess up, also the second time Christoper Walking is playing a guy called Max in my favourite movie of a franchise, merkwürdig.
That guy in Heart of Ice and Cold Cold Heart is Ferris Boyle, I actually thought Walken should play him in a Batman movie but then I remembered he’s probably too old now.
One of my favourite UNderrated Villains is The Swarm from The Magic Voyage. The movie's not...GREAT but The Swarm is a unique, wodnerfully aniamted antagonist, as he's a sapient SWARM of wasps, with the individual wasps of the swarm acting as spies and minions, and as a swarm he's CONSTANTLY shifting and altering his appearance as he speaks
Ya know, he WAS played by christopher walken so that obviously means he is the greatest batman villian of all time, hell this movie also has the trashman himself danny devito as the penguin so both of these make batman returns the greatest film ever
I think they should’ve had max find penguin in the sewers like 10 years before the events of the movie so that he could turn the penguin into more of a gentleman of crime like in the comics and use penguin as a puppet. Then during the events of the movie penguin turns on max and and starts to expose him while still trying to run for mayor. You could see them both ruin each other with penguin effectively ruining Max’s career but Max also exposing the penguin as an abandoned sewer rat that then would turn people away from the penguin effectively making him the more sympathetic villain the movie was going for
SR Striker he could be a lot smarter like he is in the comics and he’s seen max do everything, they cold also keep the plot point with penguin keeping incriminating evidence on max
It used to really annoy me that Max Schreck wasn't a character from the comics yet such a big part of the film. So I just pretended it was Rupert Thorne on rewatches.... because I'm a massive NERD apparently....
I really wish Tim made Penguin more sympathetic. I like Walken but he still played a bland evil.business man and we have enough evil.busimess men in Fiction. Still in can see why some people prefer him. After all he is Christopher Walken. For the next underrated movie villain, can you play make a video for Lionheart from Theatre of Blood?
You literally can't go wrong with Christopher Walken. He makes every movie he's in at least watchable.
Exactly, especially when it came to his part in "the Anderson Tapes"
Have too agree, I really enjoy Max Shreck as a underrated villain, plus Christopher Walken
In recent rewatches, I've come to appreciate him a lot more. Lol he just gets lost in everything because Penguin and Catwoman overshadow him.
Thanks for this video. I always loved Max Shrek as a villian and he is underrated. Ironically he's the best Lex Luthor we've gotten in a live action movie!
I feel like they based Shreck after Maxie Zeus, considering he's a corrupt businessman based around electricity.
Maybe
If so, only very loosely.
My take is that both Max Shrek and this film's version of the Penguin were inspired by Donald Trump, who was the inspiration for a great number of film and TV villians during the 80s and 90s ( Don the Con was a known sleaze even then): Max Shrek is the seemingly respectable, but actually shady AF businessmen with the bouffant hair and the German-derived name that he slaps onto his buildings and this version of the Penguin is the unloved, maladjusted child of rich folks turned gross, lecherous pu$$y-grabber with a chip on his shoulder...

(although Joker (2019) comes ever closer to rivaling my affections, at least in terms of Batman-related material.)
I just love Christopher Walken's line of "Shame on you." It is meme worthy. Also love your dry humor.
What's kind of funny is that if you swapped out Max Schreck's black suit for a white one, he'd be a dead ringer for Sterling Silversmith.
*SOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME THE WORLD IS GONNA ROLL ME, I AINT THE SHARPEST TOOL IN THE SHED*
As for the comics. We have enough criminal businessmen. But, his son Chip would be a good addition and will try to work with Wayne to help the city economically. His father can be statue in the background.
I suppose so, but that still doesn't keep them from playing a prominent role in film, even including Thomas Jane's take on the Punisher
You should do a video on the Metal Master who is a old Hulk villain from a one shot comic
Exactly
I don't know - I think he defeated himself when he cluelessly asked, "Bruce Wayne. Why are you dressed as Batman?" :-)
Selina: Because he IS Batman you moron.
Max: Was.
Shoots Bruce.
@@Xehanort10 jokes on him Batman's wearing a full body armor, as pointed out by Joker's goons
I know, that had the be the MOST stupid line he could ask 😂😂😂
Spoiler Warning for Batman returns:
I like how Max is willing to die for his son, It's a small moment but it shows that he isn't another heartless villian. Not going to lie, It made me sympathize with him a bit. Also, I thought that Danny Divito was pretty good as the Penguin, but that's just me. Always great to see a new video from you! :)
Edit: Made this comment around the 4 minute mark, then watched the rest. Didn't mean to be a parrot.
Imagine his blackcoal fried corpse turned into a undead person and haunting everyone as the new villain . Schreck being the actual full psychological embodiment of the twoface dark side. That would be the scariest Batman movie you could ever imagine.
I’ve never forgotten him.
Thought he was brilliant and like Bob the Goon, wish he was brought into other projects involving Batman.
Too bad he was killed by the Joker
you seem like quite the batman trivia buff!
Maybe we could get an animated Schreck voiced by an actor doing a ridicolously over the top Walken impersonation. That would be kinda hilarious.
Mr. Rogues but we got Roland Dagget
@@mr.rogues4145 You never know
Max Schreck's evil scheme of building a nefarious power plant sounds like something Mr. Burns from the Simpsons would do.
My friend and I love Max, we want him in a storyline or ongoing supporting villain cast like they use the Penguin in the current Batman comics.
IKR
Love the movie (the script was killer) & Walken would steal every scene he was in, and that's saying a lot because they were all amazing to watch.
I don't get his power-stealing plant scheme. What was the goal?
To steal power.
@Scupple. He was going to drain the power from Gotham to force people to pay him to use it.
‘Power surplus? Bruce, shame on you. No such thing. One can never have too much power. If my life has meaning, that’s the meaning.’
EVERYTHING Max does in this film is in an attempt to gain more power
He literally tells the good guy his evil intentions
Great film!
I read that Burton based the Max character on Donald Trump
Too funny!
Steal Gotham's energy and use it to rule the city himself
Schreck is German for 'terror' which is greatly underrated in performance by Chris Walken.
That would've been crazy
I don’t know about Max but I’d love to see the Poodle Lady make some sort of appearance somewhere. She was super creepy and could be fun if used sparingly.
Maybee, maybe. You do kinda wonder "what's up with that poodle chick...?"
Walken should come back as Max for the new Keaton Batman Beyond, or Flashpoint. Maybe in this dimension he does become Two Face?
I might be able to understand why he works so well in this movie, but Whatever made him any good in batman returns I doubt would really be that replicatable in the comics. Maybe he could make a cameo in some sort of story but beyond that I’m not sure if theres anything to build from here without changing the characters main thing entirely.
I will admit he was entertaining and surprisingly well-written, and you can't go wrong with Chris Walken. But I'm just kinda eh about canon foreigners in general. I feel like he should've been one of Comic Batman's mobster villains. I admit it'd be cool if he got added to comic canon tho.
I heard Roland Daggett in the animated series was originally going to be Schreck.
IKR, but let's not forget Ferris Boyle
Timm and Dini said not long ago that they never considered Shreck for the animated series.
But yes, he and Carl Grissom were similar to Daggett and Boyle.
Max the master manipulator of Penguin and controlled the city of Gotham for years.
“Selina? Your Fired! And Bruce Wayne, why are you dressed up like Batman?”
Are underatted villains back
I find it funny how after all this time of wondering if I was in the minority of this film that I've found this almost subculture of people in the same mindset as myself, it's great!
I would sooo love Shreck back in the batman/catwoman movies. As for the comics, he could so be a Catwoman Villain.
The whole movie is underrated it's my favorite film of all time. Alot of people dont know but they had Max Shreck in a couple episodes of the Batman animated series and Walken does the voice.
He was the saving grace of this film
Yay me rogues I’ve been waiting
I really need to rewatch Batman Returns, I know it's not as good as the '89 movie and has some writing issues, but it's so aesthetically pleasing. I do remember Max sticking out even back then, mainly his death scene kinda traumatized me as a kid.
I kinda wish he had made a comic appearance now. The Batman series has nut-cases, serial killers, crime bosses-- not nearly enough simple businessmen. Sure, maybe he's a bit too similar to Lex, but I think the slightly more sympathetic angle could make him work.
His corpse traumatized me too as a kid lol...
@@graveyardsmash2711 Maybe, but Killer Croc was supposed to be larger than that

Just came across a piece of trivia that totally blew my mind: the actor that plays his son Chip is the same guy that played Zangief in the Street Fighter movie.... 😳
"Christopher Walken is a Batman villain." -enough said!
Roland Daggett was originally planned to be the BTAS version of Schreck. Not sure why they backpedaled on that idea.
That's patently false. The writers have said Schreck was never planned for the series. They're just similar characters.
Good thing you put him in the underratted as opposed to forgotten category. Because of course we remember Maxie. Even if he could only give us expensive baubbles as opposed to world peace. And yep he deserves a spot in the comics. Course he would be no Christopher Walken there. But ah well.

What more can you expect when you see him end up a sponge?
The word is expressionism, not exprssionalism.
Yeah I don't mind him being in the comics are cartoons or movies or whatever it's perfectly fine to me at least
Personally i would use max in a future catwoman movie.
(Hopefully the movie would be better than the halle berry one)
Maybe not as a main character but an early villain that Selena would defeat
I found it quite intereasting how he surrendered himself for his son in the movie I don't know why but I expected the movie to have him
Give up his son but penguin kidnaps him anyway
I feel that Max was supposed to be Batman’s version of Norman Osborn.
Interestingly, the producers of Batman: TAS originally wanted to use Max Shreck on the show, but were later encouraged to create the character of Roland Daggett as his replacement instead. I think they wanted TAS to stand on its own despite the fact that they made Catwoman blonde and had the Penguin resemble the DeVito version because of Batman Returns.
Isaac Mounce he definitely would have made the role his own.
Michael Head yeah it’s funny that Mr Rouges didn’t bring that up but only the Two Face sub plot
SR Striker he probably didn’t know. I learned the info on one of the websites for the show.

I don't think Harvey was supposed to be Shrek. Harvey was considered early on but I think it was going to be a very different story if he was in it
Have you gotten DC Universe, and have you watch the Harley Quinn series on there?
Deshawn Edwards what a terrible show. Really is aimed at 13-17 year old. I think if they went with a concept of the just the Legion of Doom daily life would have been great. Harley is my least favorite character so far in the show. The others have been been better. I also do not get why they hold their punches at the “C” word.
That show is just one giant meme with DC characters in it.
