Today I'm doing a HALLOWEEN SPECIAL by reacting to Voiceplay (with Geoff Castelucci) with the song "This Is Halloween" from the movie "The Nightmare before Christmas".
Can you guess how many pumpkin faces I put into the video?

They've actually done 4 songs from Nightmare Before Christmas- they also performed Kidnap the Sandy Claws, featuring Rachel Potter. But if you want to hear a showstopper of an arrangement, I'd encourage you to check out one of their more recent pieces, Hoist the Colours, a song which was featured in the third Pirates of the Caribbean film. That performance has slayed many reactors!

Laine is the beatboxer and the blue guy is Earl. They've done lots of these costume videos and lots of videos where they're just themselves. I really love their version of "If I were a rich man/girl". It's absolutely amazing!
Oh and Geoff Castelucci has some Halloween songs too, like the headless horseman.

In the movie, this song is sung by the citizens of Halloween Town, hence all the different character voices that VoicePlay used.
As the video progresses, they are each turning into a character: Eli (bald with glasses) turns into the Mayor and Earl (overalls) turns into a zombie-like creature called Behemoth. Geoff, a vampire; Layne (vocal percussionist), a devil; and J. None (yellow plaid shirt), a werewolf. 🎃
The kid at the end, if you look carefully, his eyes glow ever so slightly after he takes the mask off. I've interpreted that to mean he is not *quite* what he seems to be. (The kid is Layne's nephew, by the by).

@@YBPlaysMusic Geoff was asked what kind of character he like to play & he said the villain. He also does a lot of Voice readings from Edgar Allan Poe, ( a horror righter ) . Geoff features them on his own channel. Did you notice at the beginning when they all took the candy from the little boy Layne the beat boxer fell down ? That's because Eli pushed him.down. They always sneak something funny in their videos that are hard to catch sometimes. Most of the time they do it to Layne. They are so much fun to watch. Geoff has a new solo video coming out this Out & we all think it might be a Halloween video.
Yes, liked your lighting! If you go back to the beginning, they're all dressed in simple animal halloween costumes. Once they land in Jack's world, they're wearing different clothes. They started filming this at 7:00 in the morning, and didn't wrap until past 11:00 that night - and they had 3 makeup artists working on them. It simply took forever...
Check Hoist the Colors - it may be their best. It's really harmonically unbelievable - and the costumes are great. It's from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Interesting though, that this video is not being watched at all compared to the Oogie Boogie's song. Less than 50 views in over an hour. Really strange :p
@@YBPlaysMusic Personally, I'm baffled that VoicePlay doesn't have a bigger audience across the board. Their creativity and musical quality are just incredible -- listen to "Tennessee Whiskey," "Eleanor Rigby" and "We're Good" and you'll see what I mean. Almost everyone who listens to them for the first time seems stunned at the quality, and most become fans: yet VP remains one of the best kept secrets. Maybe there is some mysterious "critical mass" that has to happen before they really take off, I don't know...
Voiceplay is very theatrical!! Watch their “Phantom of the Opera” or “Death of the Bachelor” or “My Shot” from Hamilton, just to name a very few!!!! Then there is “Moana Medley,” “Frozen 2 Medley” and “The Little Mermaid Medley!” Their theatrics with A Capella can’t be beat!!

They are all playing characters from the movie. Eli becomes the Mayor. Layne is the little Devil character. JNone is the wolfman. Geoff is a vampire. Earl--the one who turns blue--plays a character as well, but not sure if he's a zombie or what. In the opening scene, he's the one pulling the straw horse that Jack rides in on. Also, at the end, it's difficult to see, but there is an Oogie Boogie Green glint to his eyes for a moment.

Я не уверен, что понял смысл правильно, но в начале клипа к Voiceplay приходит Джек и просит конфеты. У тех конфет нет, так что ребенок-Джек с помощью конфет похищает их и превращает в монстров, а сам становится после этого человеком. А так, парни опять постарались над образами и вышло нереально круто. Спасибо за реакцию!
My partial interpretation as someone who has not seen the movie, so I may me taking the idea from another movie I haven't seen (Trick r' Treat maybe?), is that the guys broke one of the rules of All Hallows Eve by leaving their lights on and answering the door when they were out of candy. They got what they deserved.

Earl with the blue skin is apparently Behemoth. I don't know the film but others have said thiat this is Behemoth in the film. And yes Eli can hold a note. He sang with rock bands in his younger days. They also do Kidnap The Sandy Claws in a similar theatrical style, from the movie.

I absolutely love your reactions. Please do a reaction video of Voice Plays version of The Dragonborn Comes Skyrim. It is from the video game The Dragonborn Comes. It will blow your mind. Please do a reaction video of Voice Plays Halo also from the video game Halo. They are the absolute best of all.
They don't always dress up or follow the scripts from movies. They like to put their own spin on things. This year's Halloween offering is from The Princess and the Frog. J None, who played the werewolf, returned while on leave (he recently left the group to join the Navy) to film "I've Got Friends On The Other Side". It is a pretty close rendition of the scene from the movie.
If you like Geoff's voice, you should check out his channel. He does a Halloween song each year. This year is Monster Mash. He portrays Dr. Frankenstein (who narrates), Dracula, Wolfman as nd the Frankenstein Monster who provide harmony and dance moves. He has also been releasing some scary narration lately. Last year was The Raven. This year he did Poe's TellTale Heart among others.
