I don't care how long ago this show went off the air, I will continue to say this:
The fact that John C. McGinley was never nominated for an Emmy for his work as Dr. Cox is one of the greatest blunders in awards show history.

@@littlekingtrashmouth9219 That guy's name is Hugh Laurie, and he is brilliant actor, same as John C. You don't have to trash one actor to praise another, seriously. Yes, their characters were similar but not the same, so nobody ripped off anybody. Here some differences between them - House was a limp, Cox wasn't; House was a Vicoddin addict, Cox was alcoholic but later dropped that; House never had these long rants, he didn't speak so fast as Cox, they had different backgrounds; and finally House never learnt how to be happy unlike Cox who actually became a better more mature person in the end. Cox had a family, House had only Wilson. Just because they are grumpy angry/depressed sarcastic men doesn't mean they are the same. Both actors and characters are awesome. And I know that Scrubs themselves had a whole episode around House/Cox comparisons, but it was more to mock such shallow notion (and such shallow people who stick to it) than admit it.

mluiga I agree. While Cox had been more tender towards JD in certain scenes/episodes, he had never - NEVER - once said all he thought about him, or truly showed he cared TO SOMEONE ELSE. Even when he defended him, it was in a way which suggested he either owed him in some way or it'd also benefit himself. It was actually pure brilliance that the writers left it this way until the ending, when he finally, truly bared all when he really didn't have to.

But we all knew deep down Cox saw J.D as an important person in his life. Even when he tells him he is leaving you can tell Cox acting like his happy he is getting rid of him. This show will never get old to me.
I used to watch this show every night. I would put it on as I was going to sleep, or when I couldn't sleep. JD and the gang would help me to not feel so alone. I didn't have a lot of friends. Wasn't very popular. Got bullied a whole lot, and this show was like home to me.
Scrubs will always be a big part of who I am and how I made it through the Hell I went through in high school.

Even though he wasn’t complimenting JD through the series overtly, he spent more time with him than any other doctor, and despite, (or maybe because of) all the razzing JD found his real potential. And despite claiming how annoying JD was, it was always obvious he believed in him.
Plus, JD slept with his wife, and Perry never killed him.

You have to understand that the character Dr. Cox grew up with abusive parents. He was never shown love by his parents and hence didn't know how to express it himself.
The fact that he would acknowledge Dorian and accept him as a friend (in his mind) is the highest compliment he could ever give anyone.
