Problem with Gord is that you need someone to cover you while you used your ult during teamfight. Bceuase the enemy assassin will always come to kill you. And don't get me started when enemy has a Ling or Fanny
Definitely having an assassin come up to you is a pain
just don't pick gord when it's against fanny or ling. there's many other mages available to play. also counter pick is a common strategy on games like these.
Gord deals great damage against beefier enemies with magic defence cause of gord's true damage, but this season is an assassin's meta due to sky piercer
They can give him cc immunity when he's ulting just like hok's Angela

All of the recent skin voices/lines sounds so bad and cringe that it feels like the VA isn't even trying.
The only good one is Gusion voice actor cuz man every one of his skin has a beautiful and dramatic voices.

Gord was meta in ranked and even in big tournaments months ago since it was still tank meta, a meta where his skillset was needed since he can melt tanks. But now that it's assassin meta again, he unfortunately has fallen now and doesn't have much use since assassins can kill him easily.

I have a mostly meta build for gord, but it all depends on how you dodge, position, or reach the enemy even without a front line companion. In using this kind of gord, better spam your skill as much as possible for checking bush and poking some enemies.
ITEMS: (1st 3 items are your core items)
- Demon Boots (you don't mostly need impure rage if you have this)
- Ice Queen Wand (for an early CC for the enemies)
- Glowing Wand (for continues burn and reduce healing effects of the enemies)
Continuation of my build(1st 3 items) and Situational Items
- Wishing Lantern (counter for high HP enemies)
- Lightning Truncheon (for extra movement and extra magic dmg)
- Holy Crystal (for high magic power and to easily trigger the passive of wishing lantern)
- Winter Crown (to easily avoid some burst assassins hunting you)
- Genius Wand (for enemy magic defense reduction)
- Clock of Destiny (for consistent hp and mana regen (or mostly just hp regen))
- Blood Wings (for higher survivality or shield + movement speed if shield broke)

I mostly recommend using flicker for a faster repositioning in battles and to easily avoid gank and set from your enemies.

I also use the lollipops and focusing mark, but bargain hunter is kinda redundant, I'd rather use wilderness blessing. Gord is not item dependent like novaria / yve, and has no money problems.
@@amazingcola2479 true, that gord is not item dependent, but for me it is better to build the 1st 3 core items as early as possible for a better chance of winning in clash and building some extra counter items like winter crown for assassins that may hunt you.

Gord is a great tank killer,but he lacks mobility for and is basically just a sitting duck when his ult is no more. He needed someone on the front line to cover him or he'll get deleted on the map by any quick assassins. So here's my suggestion:
Passive - each time he casts a skill,he gains extra movement speed. His true damage passive still remains.
1st skill - instead of releasing a bouncing ball,he launches his board forward that'll stun everything on its way,similar to Yi-Sun-Shin's first skill when he's riding on a boat,except this one is wider and has lesser range. This'll put justice to Gord's surfboard.
2nd skill - still remains the same,but the damage tick is a bit faster so it can trigger the true damage immediately.
Ult skill - just make him immune to CC and gain damage reduction when using ult so he doesn't get stopped by Tanks and Assassins easily.
Do you even use gord,removing his boundcing ball mean he will lose ability to check bush form safe distance

I think the 1st skill is a no for me, since that bouncing ball is really unique to gord and as a gord user i love that.

Gord is basically OP if anything is covereed for you. Full build with Wishing Lantern, with a set and a fighter like Yu Zhong/Terizla made to cover you is a match made in heaven

Those heroes are usual counters to meta assassins as they are mainly dash heroes.

I always see a Gord everyday but I see an Yve once a month.
Gord is underrated since the game exists.
I'm a gord main since release of the game and never changed that because how strong he is if u skilled with him.
His skills may not be hard to use/combo but he has no dash and very bad mobility so i would definetly disagree saying gord is an easy mage as u need to be skilled with him to be usefull to the team if u pick him considering how many dash heroes exist and even heroes with crazy mobility.
The build used here is not good u always use ice queen wand as second item for the spell vamp to have more survivability and for the slow down as u make the enemie eat his ult longer which results in an more safe kill just as side info about the build.
I have zero problems against assassins as i know what i am doing.
First of all u always wanna use purify on gord not flicker.
If u get stuned u mostlikely are dead purify takes u out and grants a lil movementspeed aswell which is sometimes also great to hunt for enemies that survived with very low hp to finish them off.
Learn to play him safe about great positioning as flicker isnt any help to u unless ur positioning is bad otherwise it's not usefull for gord as his skillkit doesnt offer anything usefull in combo with flicker.
An Pro-tipp against assassins like gusion or an aldous that try to get into you simply wait for the great timing of his first skill place it on the ground where u standing just before u about to get hit it will bounce on place and stun the enemie on arrival directly 2nd skill and ult behind he is dead best situation would be to position urself into a tower when u see aldous ult on you for this combo.
Also Gord can easy annoy Natalia players due to 2nd skill he takes her out from stealth which also has a great range.
What i personally really like is when i act like running away and enemie thinks i am safe kill i place the first skill right before the enemie so he runs into it then directly 2nd skill and ult he or they are dead.
First skill is really great to safely check bushed for campers or try to steal turtle/lord from far.
2nd skill is great for survival as you can regain hp from far due to the range by placing it on enemies minions and wait behind tower to be safe till u have enough hp again to go out without having to recall.
Hope they never revamp gord he is just perfect as he is.

Close to 2K games in ranked with 60% win rate with gord for me i only play solo rank to be said and mates are mostly just bad af so i have to hard carry most of the time but its still fun tho.

Reason why Gord rarely picked
1. Easily got countered by very diving Jungler such as Fanny, Ling and Lancelot and those three are Meta for Assassin Jungler, Joy can also have capability to dive immediately into back liner
2. Assassin Meta is rising, that means those Hero will be picked even more
The reason why Gord having hard time with those 4 Heroes is because they're to agile that even Pro Player Gord having hard time to aim Skill 1 against Pro Player of those Heroes if Gord ally can't cover him
He's still quite popular though. He's not forgotten. Just today two of my matches had Gord in them.
Gord actually good on melting tank's hp bar that Radiant armor doesn't have any effects on his skills, Even he can melting tanks,He also an assassin food bc he lacks of mobility, like what is the use of his skateboard thingy

I always think that Gord’s ultimate felt not that rewarding. Landing all of your skills, bursting enemies with your ult, but somehow most of the time they always get the chance to run away. His passive sure hurts, but it takes time for every single ticks of true damage to trigger. I just think that his laser should be a little longer or simply has a little bit more magic damage so he doesn’t really need to rely on his passive to kill the enemies
This assassin meta which mean High Mobility and burst, If this is still Tank jungle Meta Gord will be meta to but since its assassin It will behard to hut and easy to be killed
Currently, since her CC immunity buff, Odette outclasses Gord. Her ult is omnidirectional and has a built-in dash and shield. Her passive is also better at poking.
Gord's only advantage now is that he doesn't have to pause to use his skills 1 and 2.
Instead of his joystick to control his ult. Why not change that to his ult button and people will always say, "he's too immobile on his ult form" so it would be nice to place it at the joystick
The thing is that gord is only really useful with and against tanks, most of those were nerfed to the ground or constantly nerfed, hylos is perma banned and the assassind also give him a headache, I had a match with him against 3 tanks, lost it because we got a mono role that had to go roam and picked saber, while our ruby was 4ss, but got MVP, and by a long shot lol, sadly there's not much more situations were you can pick him

nowadays solo rank people will never try to pick tank,they always use selena or franco or any support because they dont want to tank.

Tbh, sometimes, I do play Gord... The thing that I like with Gord is his 2nd skill... To me, that thing is just so good, especially early game(even at level 1)... You can just place it at minion wave, and you're basically guaranteed to get all the minion...
His main problem for me is his first skill. It’s honestly way too hard to predict where it will land, which is why I like what they’re gonna do to him in the advanced server.
What they gonna do?
Fr his first skill is one of the best in game in my opinion. A stun that has a nice range due to its bounce effect and the landing is easily to predict as it just lands where u want to have it just hold the skill and release it in the direction u want it.
U can easy trick ur enemies by acting to run away dann place the first skill correctly before them and after u stuned them just 2nd skill and ult after they all dead.
Trust me his first skill is fking nice not to mention u can safely check in bushes for enemies without going in by risk.

Gord became META in the Tank Meta because it's guaranteed that atleast 2 of your teammates will be the frontline and that his kit also counters tanks. Right now, assassins are able to dodge his skills and flank him.

If theres no high regen heroes, you can add concentrated energy to replace glowing wand if you want more damage
They should make him like angela in HOK, more damage in ulti because he lacks of mobility, he deals so low damage even tho his passive deals true damage but most people just gonna move when he casts his skill so there's no need to wait for his passive to activate

The problem is bad posture odette can flicker out of problem or incoming skill and still hit the enemies gord can flicker away and needs to make his ult in a accurate position so he can kill/hit his opponent they actually need to revamp my guy idc what you all say.
As a gord main(I always used him to reach Mythical), nowadays I'm not really comfortable with staying still, using my ult even longer than one second. If he ever were to revamped, i wish they would make his ult like xavier and layla. Just big blast at once and I can start moving again
I think one of the reasons Gord fell of is the fall of the Tank Jg. Unlike Tank Jg where Gord can Kite, due to his low mobility he's very prone to assassins
As someone that spammed gord for multiple season, and revelled it's usage in last MPL season, im not using him. The assassin meta is real. It can work if someone can do proper cover for you (rare in SQ)

With mages like Zhask, Luo Yi, and Zhuxin used in many games you wouldn't be able to pick him.
Add that most exp now are damage exp with assasin jungler just makes it counter intuitive to pick him.
He is still very good against Fighter Jungler so i don't think any changes is necessary.
nah cause last season i kept winning with gord, either with my friends or soloq, and we're all in mythic 50 stars and above by then... but then this season i finally got 200 shards for legend and got gord and i kept losing even when i was climbing from epic wtaf... and my wr went down by a good 6% and now i dont even use him cause im scared of losing more wr, i just use aurora as my comfort pick... im back in mythic 30 stars but i still cant use him TT

I stopped using Gord for now because Chang'e atk speed build will melt you, also sky piercer assassins are popular right now so Gord is a bad pick against those with high mobilities. Nana on the other hand, still great lmao

He is the ultimate poke/burst mage but he is to easy to kill and needs to a more fool proof combo/ult
The only thing i hate about gord is that his Ult has an Unfairly Long CD compared to other mages.
I rarely use his ult. I only use it if it's a sure kill. 1st and 2nd skill is enough to meltdown enemies plus he can clear minion wave easily. He can also walk now while throwing skills. When playing gord just play safe his skill sets have wide range.

But Xavier could trap them and run so that's why he's still good

as a gord main the reason why most people don't play gord is because of he's easy to kill. Me personally how i deal with that is to build winter crown + immortality/blood wings. For any body wondering, my build is:

Gord is a good pick whenever assassins like Ling, Fanny or Benedetta are banned on draft pick.

It is simple. When assassin meta is rising then gord meta are sinking.
he needs a mov spd buff and dmg buff and lower cd since his specialty is spamming first and second skill which also activates his true dmg allowing him to be more efficient mage.
