  • A film on puberty, menstruation, and health discovery. These are the conversations we’ve always needed.
The journey often starts with the first period, but the way in which we come to know ourselves and our bodies begins with every conversation we’ve had--or haven’t had--before then.
Through the eyes of everyday families and celebrity mothers like Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tabitha Brown, 'Me Period' explores the beauty and complexity of how we navigate sensitive conversations about our bodies and our periods. It also raises our consciousness
about how one's upbringing, personal trauma, and relationships with our
own mothers and caregivers may impact our approaches to these
    conversations.
Go to MePeriod.info for more information on the film and to download resources. Hear from expert voices offering the tools you need to lead “the talk” without passing on shame, trauma, or myths to the next generation.

When my cycle came on, I called for my daddy too. He went to the store and told me I didn’t have to go to school. Daddies are amazing!

The fact that I came across this while on my period is crazy! 😮 Very necessary conversation though!

NO woman can forget when she got her first period. My experience was horrendous!!! I wanted my daughter's experience to SOOOO MUCh BETTER than mine. I did not leave it up to the schools and social media to "educate" my daughter (and my son----men need to "period-educated" too). We continue to have open and honest conversations and information-sharing which helps my daughter AND me. I love that they are doing this film. Keep It Going, Sistas!!! We need you!!!

Yes sons need to know as well because when I was telling my boys about their bodies, I told them about a period for girls as well. Why? So if a girl starts her period at school, they won't be alarmed, and so they can have compassion.

I remember when I started. I made sure to inform my daughters so they wouldn’t be freaked out when it happened.

6th grade. I had really horrible cycles too where I had to be rushed to emergency so many times, starting in the 8th grade. I eventually found out as an adult I had fibroids. PRAISE GOD, he Healed me. Through changing my eating habits, walking in forgiveness and going through my healing journey, they aren't bad anymore! Won't He do it!!!!

I think (and hope not at the same time) that this is a film resource that has to be purchased. Kind of like when Bible study authors make videos, the church has to pay to facilitate the Bible study. But I really hope this is available for streaming somewhere!

I don't know why RUclips is just recommending this channel....but i needed it years ago! Nothing like hearing about these things from someone who looks like me ! All journeys are valid...but hearing it from sista's and auntie's hits different ❣️

This is awesome. I teach child development and in my class we spend about a week on the menstrual cycle understanding it and how it works. I would ❤️ ❤ to show this to my students (male and female). They always have great questions.

I remember getting mine at about 13. My brothers yelled Maaaaa! Lord, they got on my nerves. My aunt was like you are a woman now. I was so scared when I heard her say that. I spent most of my childhood in Brooklyn, EasT NY until age 13. I grew up way too fast. It's like many of us children in that environment has to be adults before we were children.

I'm excited about this. We as women need to be properly educated about the things that are going on with our bodies. We are never too old to learn something new.
Sidenote: 2 days ago I was thinking about when I started my period and how I waited until the evening time when my mother came home from work to verbalize the fact that I'd started it. One of my older sisters was in disbelief that I didn't tell her when I had been with her for hours before my mother came home.
