+Cole Jordan It really is. The new cloverfield is awesome too. I hope they carry on this tradition with good sci fi films with a strong character element.
Martin Canizo I think they are saving the action for the actual movie instead of showing us in the trailer. 10 Clover Field Lane will have a lot of action, trust me.
This is honestly one of my favorite parts of the movie. Seeing the military throwing everything they’ve got at the monster, and it barely having any effect just shows how powerful it is. This monster in the lore is said to just be an infant. I can’t imagine what the adult is like.
It's one of my favorite scenes of all-time, if not my absolute favorite. And Cloverfield is possibly my favorite movie ever. Everything was perfect. I love apocalyptic-type movies, and I particularly love those moments of "understanding" - when humanity realizes the gravity of what is happening. News stories, panic in the streets, and the enlistment of the military to try to fight back. I just love how it all comes together. And this movie did it as well as any movie I've ever seen.
The fact that the monster isn’t malevolent, and is only attacking out of fear and confusion since it’s said to still be an infant just makes the story a whole lot deeper.
Well, let's go way back with this... In the 60's, the Italian film Cannibal Holocaust came out and it CREATED the found footage style of film It was brought back up again in the 90's with The Blair Witch Project, but the genre didn't take off until Cloverfield came along...technically Paranormal Activity came out the previous year, so it was released first, but only to a very limited number of theaters until it was re-released to a bigger audience I must have worded it wrong :^P
Best scene when the military comes out of nowhere and starts firing at that thing. Personly, you gotta have some balls to run towards that thing. I also didnt notice them retreating. Oh well. They tried.
They're the 69th Infantry, the Wolfhounds! The same men who were the first military unit to respond to 9/11, since they're the local Guard unit for Manhattan (at the time). And those were actually them, they used volunteers from the battalion as extras for the scene.
It's really amazing when you think about it. If an alien invasion or a demon army ever stepped foot on America soil ...there would be brave men and women ready to fight. Whatever horror you can imagine, soldiers are ready to die fighting.
It's a tiny but realistic detail, saying both "Get out of our damn way!" and "get yourself to safety!" like a soldier would (hopefully) also do in real life
Now.. This has to be the most spectacular and scary movie ive ever seen. The monster crushing everything, Marines and tanks firing are well done. Found footage style is absolutely the best one for this movie.
Those aren't Marines, that's Army. Also the thing that first fires at the creature isn't a tank, it's a Paladin. Motorized artillery. In the back covering their advance is an M1 Abrams and I'm actually not sure what the vehicle firing the rockets is.
@@PBurns-ng3gw Ah I see. Also I just noticed but if you slow it down when they're running, you'll see the creature stepped on the soldiers that were advancing. I'm not sure what happened to the Paladin but I'd like to imagine it turned on one of those streets for some reason, idek why they selected the Paladin to advance but let the M1 sit back and provide cover fire. They should've switched them. After the advancement failed the M1 and MLRS would probably have pulled out which explains why the creature gained as much ground as it did. This was the National Guard unit in Manhattan, I doubt they had any other ground support. After the unit couldn't subdue it and air support couldn't either, I'm sure that's why they just decided to nuke it.

This film was so fucking awesome in the cinema compared to the DVD. The cinema was dark and the surround sound made the film a lot more tense lol! Fun film! :D
Chronicle is pretty awesome for sure. I have to put Cloverfield on top probably because of how damn immersive it was. The found-footage style was done well, but it also was the marketing campaign and the meta in-universe lore they created. Before there was any public trailer for this movie, you could only know about in from mouth-to-mouth, and it was done in a way as it ''really'' had happened.
Indeed I would love to play as the military trying to evac and save people while also battling the parasites and Clover That would be awesome! Can totally see myself getting goosebumps if they had to go into the tunnels were the parasites were at
+KerbalCommander117 The baby was separated from its mother, and was in a strange place. It thought the statute of liberty was edible but when it found out it wasn't, the baby chucked it because he was a hungry and mad it wasn't food. He then proceeds to wander around calling for its mother. And in this scene he is in full panic mode. He's just walking around then quite literally BAM, he is being attacked and is desperately screaming for his mother. He took a shoulder launched missile to his thigh, and I'd being surrounded by soldiers and tanks (people say it's dumb for the soldiers to run towards the monster but they were trying to cut of its escape and other units were on the way to surround him). He is screaming for his mother and trying to run away. He is a baby, he doesn't know he is causing death and terror, he's never seen these humans and his 1st interaction with them is being hunted. Put yourself in his situation, you got separated from mom, lost, and being hunted.

Best 2 minutes of military fighting aliens in movies. They threw everything at the alien yet does little damage. The behaviour of the soldiers is on point, the attention to details, sound design, cgi. Everything is great
If you pause at 0:14, you can see that the streets they came from was at an angle. Depending on which end the group also came in, and with all the commotion in the city still, it is plausible that they didn't notice the platoon trailing behind them.

It's only 1 hour and 20, but for some reason it felt like an eternity bc it was so intense. Amazing. And it still is. JJ abrams is the god of sci-fi
In a way, this film not only brought giant monster movies back to American audiences but also set a template for future movies like Pacific Rim, Kong: Skull Island and Legendary's Godzilla. - Focus more on a human story (to varying success) - Sparsely show your monster for added suspense - Low angle, street level camera shots to accentuate the scale - Authentic animal behavior for creature Seriously this movie fuckin' BRILLIANT!
I found out this movie a few days ago, as a Pacific Rim and Attack on Titan fan, and I loved it… It's 06.45 a.m and I still haven't slept, reviewing comments about this movie.
This in a real life scenario would be phase 1 of the attack. Phase one: the military would respond immediately to the attack, by tanks, missles, jets and soldiers prepared to take the beast down. Phase 2: the monster doesnt die from the initial attempts... the citizens of the city will evacuate in a state of panic and fear. Meanwhile the military and the beast continue to destroy each other. Phase 3: the monster gives birth to hundreds of tiny creatures that carry a deadly toxin to humans. The monsters offsprings infect many people, and a pandemic begins. The president declares all out war, and a state of emergency for those in the perimeter of the city. Phase 4: the monster destroys the city, and the military nukes the beast, which kills the beast. Decimating the city and killing the monster. This is exactly what would happen in a real life scenario of a alien life form threat to earth.
Those military has a ball steel, even the M109 were used as a front line tank to shoot down the monster while M1 Abrams and M270 supporting at the back.

This film was so fucking awesome in the cinema compared to the DVD. The cinema was dark and the surround sound made the film a lot more tense lol! Fun film! :D
That is exactly why cinema is better than torrents on your computer.
***** He does make a good point though, sometimes you've just got to go and enjoy the full cinematic experience rather than relying on downloads :)
***** People prefer watching the movie for free on their computer or iPad which is a bullshit experience compared to a cinema

As loud as it is in the theater it's worth the experience
The greatest found footage movie ever made. Hands down.
There will never be another like it!
I think chronicle is a bit up there
Chronicle is pretty awesome for sure.
16 years later still gives the chills
This movie gave me a lot of anxiety
Mad Max fury road
There needs to be a video game of this
Yeah I wish someone can make one
Hopefully we get to see the baby if you didn’t know the flim was all of the baby’s vision
Indeed
I would love to play as the military trying to evac and save people while also battling the parasites and Clover
That would be awesome!
Can totally see myself getting goosebumps if they had to go into the tunnels were the parasites were at
I would want to play as cloverfield
@@snakeeyes0159 I could see it initially released like this, but DLC later allows you to flip the script and control Clovie

After learning that the monster was a baby, I find this scene to be really sad.
Why tho?
+goldenhedgehog9 holy crap. I didn't think about it like that. Man, I came here for Cloverfield not Cloverfeels. :'(
KerbalCommander117 well you got the feels!
+APuckettCinema Well even before that it was eating absolutely anything it could and trampling on anyone. Of course shooting at it make it worse.

Great. Now someone should remake this from their perspective. I like this movie a lot on repeat viewings. But from the military's persoective would've made it a lot more better youre right

Nope, you're wrong. They still have one last resort, and it all starts with splitting an atom.

Yea they did they used the nuke near the end of the movie
The Bunker buster bomb or a MOAB(Mother Of All Bombs) can be effective
Its even in the movie godzilla (japanese version)
When the americans with I think 2 B2 spirit bombers
Dropped a Bunker buster bomb and had little effect but its still useless anyway
*Korex Studios :Not everything*
0:50 Imagine if a Jaeger from Pacific Rim dropped outta nowhere and starts fighting the monster with the military shooting at it too?
best part about it is that there was a cloverfield easter egg in pacific rim uprising. there was a screen with a list of kaiju, and on the screen to the bottom left somewhere said ''CLOVER'' with an image of the monsters head next to it
Best 2 minutes of military fighting aliens in movies. They threw everything at the alien yet does little damage. The behaviour of the soldiers is on point, the attention to details, sound design, cgi. Everything is great
i got excited as soon as the military apeared

If you pause at 0:14, you can see that the streets they came from was at an angle. Depending on which end the group also came in, and with all the commotion in the city still, it is plausible that they didn't notice the platoon trailing behind them.
True. I see it.

ColonelChaos0 and the bomber! for the 3 seconds it lasted anyway.

A better monster vs military scene than Godzilla 2014 I think.
Brolly5 I have an idea, replace the monster with a giant lizard and name him Godzilla. X)
+NonHaloPro117 that was actually the inspiration. a kaiju film that focused on u.s. themes and issues like the original Godzillas did for Japan.
Hands down yes there was only one scene where the military repelled against Godzilla
+Brolly5 godzilla 2014 vs military was awesome hands down...this is awesome to

In a way, this film not only brought giant monster movies back to American audiences but also set a template for future movies like Pacific Rim, Kong: Skull Island and Legendary's Godzilla.
- Focus more on a human story (to varying success)
- Sparsely show your monster for added suspense
- Low angle, street level camera shots to accentuate the scale
- Authentic animal behavior for creature
Seriously this movie fuckin' BRILLIANT!
Well that's what kind of happened in the movie
Then the alien gets a sickness it isn’t immune to because it has never been on earth and dies
I hope

You say it's not needed, but he has said that there is a possibility for a sequel.
Shrek The Ogre "He said he doesn't want to make a sequel where it's not needed" I hope he changed his mind but there hasn't been any updates on it other than “Part of me just wants to let it go, though we’ve had a couple of discussions about cool ways to do it. " -Abrams
