Martin Lemieux same haha. I didn’t know until I watched someone from China has it on his accord. And he didn’t have that many views on his video so I decided to make a video on it and on how to install it. Will keep modifying for sure brotha!
Just installed mine today, and I have to admit, it's pretty cool. Definitely worth $26.17. A couple of observations, though: 1) If you're impatient, it's actually faster to open the trunk with your hands than to let the struts do it. But with the struts installed, you have to let them do the work, you can't make it go faster using your hand. 2) The trunk is a lot harder to close now, although in a way, that's good, because it will keep people from slamming my trunk lid closed!
bnewall1 I usually open my trunk from far away and yes let it open by itself don’t try to open it while it’s opening. The second thing it will be hard at first so you need a good amount of power to close it but after a while it actually gets easier. Mine isn’t as bad as before. It’s easy to close now. You have to tighten the bolts everyone once in a while but yes it’s definitely worth it. :)
Nicely produced video and thank you. Helped me with installing mine. I didn't read through the comments, however you did not need to add the additional spacer. The additional nut already on the portion which connects near the back seat is adjustable. Simply by going midway down the screw, it will lower the strut mounting hole (giving you the clearance needed) so the strut won't rub. I refurbish pinball machines and the leveling feet at the bottom of the legs, are exactly the same way. Anyway, thank you so much, well made and useful video. Yes I have subscribed and look for other mods you may do. I was going to make a video related to the "heated mirrors" I added to my 2018 Accord, but it's a lot of work to actually DO a video while DOING the mod.
I also wanted to mention a couple of installation-related items, but was waiting until I was by a computer instead of on my tablet, since I can type faster. :) My kit came with square nuts for the rear bolts to attach to, vs. the round nuts that I saw in your video and someone else's. Also, the nuts were attached to the metal "stick" using flimsy plastic tape, not sturdier electrical/vinyl tape. I have fairly big hands and long fingers. On the driver's side, I found that I didn't even need to use the metal piece. I could just reach my index and middle fingers inside the opening (carefully, since the edges are sharp) and guide the nut in place with my fingers. That was pretty easy. On the passenger side, however, there is no opening directly above where the nut goes, so I had to use the metal piece and go in through a hole about a foot away from the target. There is, apparently, a piece of metal inside that creates a bit of a recess, and as luck would have it, the nut came off of the metal piece and fell in that recess. I could just barely feel it with my finger by reaching up inside the hole and over the piece of metal that sticks up from inside (thus creating the recess), but I couldn't move it. Finally, it occurred to me to put some electrical tape on my fingertip and wiggle my finger up inside, over, and down into the recess, and then the nut stuck to the tape and I was able to get it out. I then attached it to the metal "stick" much more securely using the electrical tape, and was able to finish the installation.

@@Iegend17 it will not rust inside the trunk but if you are going to do something just paint it red like the car so it blends in with the rest of your metals dont put tape!!!!!! That's going to look HORRIBLE

Since I go to work and school I bought factory rims from Honda the next day AFTER Confirming that I would be paid by my insurance company. The total cost for the tires/rims was about $3600!! I had to pay a 500 deductible but in the end insurance ended up sending me a check of 3100. (Thank God) Now I invested in a shock alarm and security cameras lol. Not trying to go through that experience again. Btw the guys were never caught. Sucks man

I ordered a kit for a 2017 Accord and found that the supplied 22mm rubberized clamps are too large for the trunk hinge. I ordered some 20mm, hopefully I will get better results.
Legend17 the 20mm rubberized clamps worked, I also added a secondary 20mm clamp on each side to prevent the clamp with the shock from slipping. The truck is a lot stiffer to close. The shocks that I received with my kit were 15 3/4 long with a 7 in rod, 8 3/4 compressed length. It seems it would be better if the compressed length was 6 3/4 with a 9in rod, that way it wouldn’t stiffen the trunk. Perhaps I’ll look for different shock in the future for a cleaner install. I have a bit of OCD.
IX XIII hahaha I know what u mean. So at first it will be like that tune in the future the strut will be nice and soft and it will make closing the trunk easier. If you want you can remove one now and close and open the trunk using only one of them. It will be much better if its really hard close the trunk. Give it a try and let me know
Aesthetically we have the same set up I have the dark grey and yours is red (only difference) just got the remote start installed the last week for only 200 (programming and key fob)
All you have to do is buy a Driver 1 key fob from an ex/exL (the price went up to about $120-130 average + $80 for programming so total $200 after taxes depending on state, I’m in California) just go to parts department and ask specifically for a driver 1 otherwise I don’t think it will work. The way it works is you unlock the car then lock it then hold the automatic start for three seconds the hazard lights will blink twice and car will start. All you have to do is press brake and hit power like you normally do. It’s a great addition for weather conditions, before going to work to warm up the car and if you have young children like I do

How did you get the passenger side connected? There is a hole about a foot away but cant guide that tool through there. Right now only have the driver's side on but semi works.
Nyon Gyon they are garbage. Worse car I owned in the snow. Mustang rear wheel drive was almost as good as me. People swear by the tires on the accord and they say they are the best. My cheap tires I have now on the car that I got from eBay for 150$ for two they are better when accelerating in dry weather. Much better than the Michelin’s no joke

How much slower do you have to close the trunk to allow for the pistons to compress? Or can you just give the lid a push and the trunk will close normally?
mrzeld it’s a bit heavier to close. It’s getting better though. The first couple times I closed it it was kinda hard to close but it’s much better now. I love it so much. I would really recommend it. And it looks cool asf hahah.

Not some universal springs. Go watch videos about it. It sucks ass. Trust me it’s not easy to install. You have to find the right spot to put them and of course not all cars are the same. It might work for your car but not mine.

Chris Blum I did one of the but it was super slow. I would say it took about extra a 1-2 seconds. With two of them it’s not as flimsy. And for the hood I can’t find any yet. Once I find em I will buy em for sure
Two big things you missed... (I just installed this) 1. You don't need the spacer in the rear part of the trunk as the grip nut should not be spun all the way down on the bolt face. That's why it's there... 2. You failed to show that the other side of the trunk doesn't have a hole and needs to be drilled out to get the bolt on. That's important for non-mechanical types... Other than that, this is a good video as the kit has no installation instructions.

Awesome mod but i suggest you put "foam tape/felt tape" around that bracket on the trunk lid so it doesn't damage the paint in future

How did you get the passenger side connected? There is a hole about a foot away but cant guide that tool through there. Right now only have the driver's side on but semi works.

I heard that car tyres are not upto the mark this generation accord (2018-2020) they don't support vehicle in even in little bit of snow.
Nyon Gyon they are garbage. Worse car I owned in the snow. Mustang rear wheel drive was almost as good as me. People swear by the tires on the accord and they say they are the best. My cheap tires I have now on the car that I got from eBay for 150$ for two they are better when accelerating in dry weather. Much better than the Michelin’s no joke

mrzeld it’s a bit heavier to close. It’s getting better though. The first couple times I closed it it was kinda hard to close but it’s much better now. I love it so much. I would really recommend it. And it looks cool asf hahah.

Chris Varghese have you watched videos about it ? Lol. Dude this thing sucks and the way how it makes the trunk opens. I am glad I spent more money to buy something better and meant for my accord. Not some universal springs. Go watch videos about it. It sucks ass. Trust me it’s not easy to install. You have to find the right spot to put them and of course not all cars are the same. It might work for your car but not mine.

Chris Blum I did one of the but it was super slow. I would say it took about extra a 1-2 seconds. With two of them it’s not as flimsy. And for the hood I can’t find any yet. Once I find em I will buy em for sure

Two big things you missed... (I just installed this)
1. You don't need the spacer in the rear part of the trunk as the grip nut should not be spun all the way down on the bolt face. That's why it's there...
2. You failed to show that the other side of the trunk doesn't have a hole and needs to be drilled out to get the bolt on. That's important for non-mechanical types...
Other than that, this is a good video as the kit has no installation instructions.
