Saw Lee live in a small theatre in Birmingham back in 1993 - we howled with laughter from the opening line: "Anybody ever had an imaginary friend at school? I did - they were real people - I just imagined they were my friends".
I saw one of them grab amusement machines being delivered to the arcade and they where just getting it off the back of the lorry when they dropped it ! 😂
This is heartbreaking in so many ways. Lost years realised after the loss of a life, but he’s a man of his word - and a good man at that. So humble and full of humility, the best comedian there is.
I always play lee evans to my patients at work who suffer with dementia and brain injuries and hand on heart.. Lee gives them so much laughter, they will literally watch from start to finish and just be laughing continuously. Lee if you're reading this, I just want you to know, you're a god send and we're so blessed to have you in our lives. You touch the hearts of so many people. God bless!
First laid eyes on this legend as a thirteen year old an still remember wiping the tears of laughter away then finally got to watch him live on the XL tour and monsters tour an after all these years I can honestly say what a top down to earth geezer he really is god bless you lee
Lee Evans has made me laugh more than ANY other comedian has EVER, and I NEVER EVER thought he would EVER get me emotional with his words, but when he was talking about his manager (R.I.P) and he said his manager would always say to him "Don't worry, I'll look after you", that proper got me man and I know that hurt Bless you Lee, you're a proper diamond geezer mate...👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Always been a massive fan of Lee Evans such a legend. Such a very humble and down to earth guy. I had the honour of going to see him at the o2 and still remains the best comedian in my book. I was crying with laughter from start to finish. After the show ended he came back on stage to shake hands with people in the crowd. He stayed for a very long time. Shame he is stopping but hats off to him. He deserves a break. True top guy.... Best wishes to you Lee
Proud to say I was there at Lee's last show in Cardiff 30th November 2014, was an emotional evening and after all the times I've seen him I finally got to shake his hand.
Just think how we are lucky enough to have lived during this man's time. He is my absolute inspiration in life. Thank Lee..... thank you for just being you ❤️
100% love this guy, and he told the truth.. you meet him in the street he is just a joy to chat too. Polite, funny and always gives himself generously to those that recognise him. I was lucky to live near Lee for many years in his hometown. I had the pleaseure of meeting him out shopping, and it is a memory I will cherish for ever. Had me in stitches.... I wish Lee a happy retirement.
That went from a beautifully manic , clever and funny man to the real personna. Every thing about Lee is amazing, what an amazing and inspirational man, Legend
I’ve followed Lee for all of his time in the spotlight, even at a time before the spotlight and he hasn’t changed a bit. The only thing he has changed is the swearing and that is due to comedy being more effective with modern audiences when there’s swearing and the times have changed. From his early days doing stand up to his movie role in the Jackie Chan film The Medallion he is a comedy legend in the exact same vein of Sir Norman Wisdom. As with Sir Norman, when (and I hope for for many, many years to come) I hear of Lee’s passing I will drink a toast, shed a tear and remember one of the greatest comedians of our time.
I went to a comedy night at The Venue, in New Cross London in about 1989/1990. It was hosted by the wonder that is Arthur Smith ("...My name's Goodnight, Arthur Smith.."). Anyway there was only about 15-20 of us there. I remember an act called "Two Girls Wot Sing" and some fella in a uniform with a fake moustache pretending to be brass band with his mouth. Then there was this insane little guy in a suit all sweat and funny faces, pumping himself up then blowing himself out like a balloon being let go. He also did a skit to Bohemian Rhapsody I think. We were in tears laughing. I only realised years later it was Lee Evans.
Such a lovely down to earth man with comedy that will be relatable for years and years and years, honestly the best comedian out there, its a bitter sweet thing i was sad to see he wasn’t doing anymore but happy hes taking time out to enjoy with family and have a good earned rest, much love lee ❤️❤️❤️
Took my sons to see Lee when they were 11 and 14, told them not to tell their mum. They are 29 and 26 now and still remember crying with laughter. What a legend, enjoy your retirement mate.
I wish Id have had the privilege of being in his live audience at least once. I got his book signed from someone who went (I couldn't make it). Great to see these videos still.
I too started cleaning toilets just like lee! 14 years ago? ended up managing 26 very big retail stores 👏❤ prooves that you can achieve anything from the start....
I've seen many comedians in a few different languages that I speak. And for me Lee Evans is the best of them all hands down, and a humble guy which is very well received. Thank you for all the laughter you gave us, and enjoy your well deserved time wit your love ones!😃
I saw Lee Evans live in Brighton back in 1998 or was it 97 Can't quite remember but what I do remember was that my belly ached after with all the laughter. Top bloke and the best comedian I have ever herd and seen. Cheers Lee
Watched Lee live in his final tour. He is, and always will be the funniest guy alive. So glad I got to experience it before he retired. Thank you Lee 😊
The best in my life time he reminds me so much of Norman wisdom a comedy hero of mine thanks for the memories lee god bless it’s time for others to make you smile 🏴🙏🏻
Stupid thing is musicians will do there “last tour” and then 5 years later will do another “last tour” because they ran out of money. Where as Lee Evan said I’m done ( which is a massive shame to the comedy community and we completely understand why he retired) but I have so much respect for him wanting to be a family man. It’s to easy to get caught up in doing tours and being away from family for months or even years at a time (some people think yea he is supporting his family with his job) but he is also missing the milestones his kids hit and one day you suddenly realise how much time you lost. Lee Evens will forever be my number one comedian and I hope himself and his family are enjoying there time together.
Got all his DVDs and saw him live in Cambridge too! A cross between Norman Wisdom and Frank Spencer. I wish he'd do Mock the Week, 8 Out of Ten cats does countdown or Would I Lie to You one day.
Far better than royalty in my book. Wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth, worked hard all his life, helped the needy without the media spotlight, and made us laugh.
This is such an incredible interview, watching the real Lee Evans open up in this way. You’re spot on too, it’s so important not to lose focus on family/friends but sadly it’s also far too easy to let work dominate your existence in this day and age. I would dearly love to see some new material from Lee one day, but if I don’t then that’s fine too, you’ve provided enough laughs to last a lifetime. I grew up watching Lee (I am 49 now) and your version of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody has stayed with me since the early 90’s! Thanks for all the laughs 😄👌🏼
I’d love him to do one more show, I’d pay good money to see him live just one more time, I never had the chance as I’m still relatively young! Maybe one day!
as much as i really enjoyed growing up with his shows, and finally seeing his final tour in person, i have to disagree he truly deserves to spend time with his wife, and its best to just leave him be
@@giraffe3718 it’s easy for you to say, you went to the final tour I never got to experience that and believe me there are plenty of the younger generation that would love to see him also!

Always comes across as lovely person,I know this is a while back but I remember at the time thinking what a loss to live comedy. Can’t think of any other comedian who masters the stage as much. Fair play to him for stepping back and enjoying life for himself and his family, good luck to him

Agreed with you ! He is a good-humble man not money oriented!!
Sometimes in everyone’s life you need a time for self.
Just the best
I love him! He's my hero since I was 13 (I'm now 38) I wish he would tour again ❤️

I wish i could meet lee in real life and say " thank you and to your family" the man restores my faith in humanity every time i watch him.
I did meet him at a book signing, I said exactly that and he said “and thank you all for being my friends” - so there you go :)
