This is why I love firebox. This man actually goes out and tests the heck out of the stuff he sells. He’s thoroughly tested the different wood setups, the different alcohol setups and even what types of fuel work best. He (or fans) invent new ways to use existing products (warming shelf for example). He has many videos showing his stuff in actual use, no one else in this market does these things.
Thanks Phil! I'm glad to know you appreciate my efforts. It's a lot of work but it's also a lot of fun for me 👍😎🙏
daughter: "Hey dad, whatcha watching?"
me: "A dude boiling water."
daughter: "Heh, no really, what are you watching so intently?"
me: "Sports."
daughter: "I knew it!"
Lol! That's perfect!
Hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahaha! Brilliant!
Steve
I've had my firebox for about two weeks now and have used it lots for bacon and eggs, pork chops, chicken, beef tenderloin, hot dogs, camp fires. If your thinking of a G3 all I can say is good luck because the G2 is perfect !!!
Al
Lol! Thanks so much! I'm glad you're having fun!
I HAVE RECEIVED MY FIREBOX AND AM LOVING IT. IT DOES ALL I HAVE SEEN IN YOUR VIDEOS. I FEEL IT IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOLS I HAVE EVER PURCHASED.
Thank you so much for your support and business, your feedback is appreciated. Have fun out there Roger!
I have tried all of these methods and have reached the same conclusion. The Swedish Fire Torch method is certainly longer lasting, although stick fires can be the hottest. Pellets can be little finicky. You just have to learn what works best (same as with any fire setup). Interesting video as usual Steve. (Oh, liked and shared on FB!)
Thanks so much Bill! For all the support over the years!
I found the wood pellets just don’t cook as hot because there’s no good coal bed. It’s a tiny little coal bed.
Hello Steve! Is the 16 your go to pot for family camps? I’m trying to figure out what to purchase for a group of 4 to 6 people
I've had several portable wood stoves, and these, by FAR, work the best. No warping, easy to load, easy to get going! Great job, Steve!
Thanks so much Stu!
The Firebox stove is a great way to make an efficient fire out of kindling sized sticks (the diameter of your finger). If you tried to get the same heating out of an open campfire with kindling you would need many times more wood to accomplish the same thing. Going to popular camping spots all of the larger pieces of wood have already been scavanged but tinder and kindling is often ignored because it does not make big ripping campfires. Also, the impact upon a camping site is minimal with a Firebox and the site restoration at the end of your visit is quick.
Very well said! 👍
i also use a solar tube cooker, no fire just sunshine = no smoke for the occasional stealth mission ; ]
Nice job! Keep the information coming.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the real time side by side comparison.
My pleasure Ken. Thanks for watching!
that was great! Just received my 5"G2 today. Beautiful stove, quality through out. You folks over there in Utah are genuine American heroes in my book.
Thanks Matt!
I'm in South Florida so make sure you ring the dinner bell Extremely Loud!
Brian Garner Lol! very very loud!
I really enjoy your attention to detail.
Thanks Cliff!
So much to learn about fire, thanks for all the tips.
Thanks Eric!
A very informative video, brother. Thanks for uploading! Hello from New Zealand!
Thanks! I hope to visit New Zealand some day!
I always like comparison tests. Great job keep them coming.
This is just genius. Pure and simple. You know, I’ve been looking for great bushcraft options for staying warm and keeping a safer/LNT type fire, and this is just absolutely the ticket. I can’t think of any cons. You have to wait for it to cool to pack it. Wow. That’s the only con. That’s nothing. Perfect product.
Thanks Tony! It's on sale right now 👍
www.fireboxstove.com/
@@fireboxstove how long is that sale going to last if you had to guess? I’m about to get a little extra money, and this is the first thing on my list to get. I have some buddies that are excited about it too. 👍🏻
This is great laboratory content Steve. Thank you for bringing us along!
Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
Steve, I "liked" your video and since I don't have a FB account, I went next door, rang the doorbell and told my neighbor all about the Fireboxstove. Also, my wife and I have agreed that if we EVER have another baby boy; we are going to name him.......STEVE!
Lol, Okay, I guess that will work. Thanks!
I do love the videos. You do all the leg work for us to use your gear efficiently.
Thanks so much Chuck!
I never would of thought one could cook the way you do, with a pot and a camp stove, but you do and its fantastic. thumbs up
Thanks so much Joe!
Thanks for posting the video. Nice to see the different wood setups side by side.
Thanks for watching David!
Steve I'm not sure I've seen a more versatile cooking system. These things are awesome! I've watched these and studied them online for a couple years or so now and have really enjoyed seeing all they can do! Love how you can turn the zebra pot on its side and bake! That would be so much fun for a family camping trip this next winter here in Florida. Liked and shared! Thanks for the great product!
Well, thanks Kevin!
The versatility of the stove really is demonstrated. Thanks.
Thanks John!
I really have to say, you've got something really amazing with the firebox!! Quality, durability, and longevity! Totally solid stove at a great price!! I'm getting the 5" stove with the leather sheath!!! Two thumbs up!!! 👍👍🇺🇸.
Thank you very much!
I love these stoves! Thank you Steve, for all of these wonderful videos, stoves, ideas and sharing your lovely family. Be well!
Posted, Liked and Shared!
Thanks!
Thank you! I like them a lot!
+FireboxStove I can understand why!
Just got my Firebox today. Tested it and i am pretty happy with it 👌
Thanks Micke!
That was a fascinating experiment! Very thorough and well done! Thanks for taking the time and effort to do that and share!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Driving the Alcan this weekend and I'm taking my 5' firebox along. Great comparison Steve.
Sounds fun! Thanks!
I've been getting to know my nano this summer. Absolutely love it! I can't wait to cook with it on my Algonquin Park trip in August. Thanks for such great products, Steve.
Sounds fun! Thanks!
I love the info and can hardly wait to order.....but I must admit the running to and fro between stoves made me chuckle!
Lol thanks for watching Mark and for your support!
Good test. I usually don't use time as much. I enjoy the process.
Lots of fun!!
Thanks John!
This is a great test, I've found that sticks bring the quickest boil as well. No one else out there tries this with 3 full quarts of water, awesome!
Thanks so much Scott!
my new nano arrived today Steve. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow. another great video. I keep tuning in just to see the evolution of the beard 😁
Awesome!, Thanks so much!
Another informative video about the best damn American made camping stove on the planet...keep up the great work Steve!!!!
Thanks a bunch!
I have watched a few of your videos just today, what a great innovative product, and your videos are very well done. I bought the Firebox last year and love it! Good job!
Thanks Brandon!
I just love the versatility of the Firebox stowves, big or small, they are fantastic, and I take mine on every outing.
Awesome! Thanks Quintin!
Really nice test. Helpful and informative. I brought a Bushcraft Titanium wood stove when I first started backpacking. That stove cost me like $200. Then I found out I couldn’t use it in a lot situation in California mountains. I believe I will do more overland camping. I just placed an order yesterday on 13 items from your website, which included the overlanding table. I couldn’t get myself to buy another stove since the concept are similar. Maybe one of these days I will win one 😂. I have white gas, canister, alcohol, and solid fuel stoves. I gas I will just use them all so that I can cook multiple dishes at the same time, like Steve does. By the way love your goats and dogs. Of course your children are super cute.
As a Canadian, I say this is the best backcountry setup I've seen. If I don't win, where can I buy this setup in Canada? Especially your modified Zebra Pot? Our 2016 resolution this year is to only buy high quality gear because you never regret it. Your Firebox Stove/Zebra Pot cooking/baking system is the best ! The bonus is your informative videos that never disappoint. A true fan!!!
Thanks so much Tina! I appreciate you!
You're my spirit animal! I love your cooking and family videos. Ialready own two of your fireboxes!
That is great, thank you for the support. I am glad they have been good for you and you enjoy the videos.
Liked and Shared! As always another awesome demo of just how great these work! Keep the awesome content coming. I love that your the only person who will show and create videos of your own product and show that time and time and time again there is a reason your product should be ( and frankly is IMO ) the best product on the market.
PS. The beard is looking quite great these days Steve! Keep the awesome content coming!
Thanks so much Lucas!
Outstanding job and very informative.
I'm totally SOLD on you're cool system!
Thank you so much.
Thanks James 🙏
thanks for the great comparison, good to know once and for all what works best.
Thanks for watching!
Hallo Steve,
Sehr aufschlussreich erklärt. Mir gefällt es dass du solche Versuche in ein Video packst.
Grüße Michael
Thanks Michael so glad you found it useful!
Nice Study. It seems that different methods work well for different cooking requirements. I like the Swedish fire torches for grilling my steaks once the flame dies down. The adding wood by top or side feed might boil water faster. I want to try the wood pellets, but it seems to defeat the not needing to bring fuel along with you feature, which is my main reason for stick burning stoves.
this would be an awesome Father's Day present for me!
Lol, Yes!
I just bought my first Firebox stove + accessories. I'll be trying it out for the first time this weekend.
BTW, the stove isn't just practical, it's rugged, too.
Liked & shared!
Thanks!
It's well deserved.
Asking an off-topic question, I'd like to know what motivated you to make the Firebox?
I haven't seen a video about your inspiration, but I'd like learn.
Steve, this video is great. Keep up the good work!
I use a Gen 1 Firebox and most often find myself using a combination of the large wood + top feed of smaller stuff to control heat as needed. I am curious to grind out a side feed port but the top feed technique has never failed me yet.
Sven saw makes short work of the endless fuel supply here in PA.
Thanks Dicer! Some people have cut side feed ports into their G1's with good success, but like you say, the top feed works great too!
thanks for sharing the different fuel loads. It appears that the side load and the fire torch method are the safest way of maintaing an even fire and hearty coals
Yes! Thanks so much!
I have the Gen 1 and make up excuses to use it all the time because... (controlled) fire is fun! Took it camping up in Maine Memorial Day weekend and it worked flawlessly when cooking -- using fire torches, sticks, charcoal and an alcohol stove. You videos inspire me to try different techniques and meals. Thanks!
"Fire is fun!" Me too! I'm glad to hear you're using the firebox several different ways all on the same trip and I'm very glad to hear that you're having fun!
I love the design of both the original and the nano stove. Great product!
Thank you!
I just received my firebox Nano and I cannot wait to go out and play with it.
Very cool! I hope you have a great time out in the wood with your Nano!
The Folding Firebox stove is, in my opinion, the best all around stove available. Quality and performance are the hallmarks of this exceptional design. Video liked and shared, Steve.
Thanks so much Tim! I really appreciate your support over the years!
Great to see 5 firebox heating methods on one video.
Thanks for watching!
Wood pellets seem very susceptible to gaining moisture from damp air. Once a bit damp, they burn with noticeably less heat being produced. That makes them "finicky." It's also a bit tougher to get air flowing thru a dense pile of pellets.
Best wood stove On the market. Your videos are very informative and provide a wealth of information.
Thank you Robert!
Steve, you have such great products. I hope to see plenty more as the years go by.
Me too Kary! Thanks!
Great video definitely doing some cooking with the swedish fire set up thanks
Nice video comparison of different methods.... Thanks Much, Bob
My work is my play so it's really my pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Awesome lil Video . I told The Wife " look Hun, Steve doesn't do videos like this" was good to see a Firebox used in a Tough Situation so to say. I still Have My Titanium Nano!! My Favorite stove and last, but I lost My Billy Can when We lost everything.....would love to Have another one. We are getting a 95 land cruiser in 4 Days and I been waiting so long to finally be able to do some of what You do 👍. God Bless ❤️🇺🇲
Thank you for the kind words and support, we truly appreciate it. God Bless you and your family as well, have fun out there!
I am still deciding between this and the bushbox. USA vs Germany! Firebox nano has so many configurations for the trangia burner! Liked!
Thanks Henry! Keep watching video's to decide!
Great vid Steve, I've used wood pellets in the past many times and it works great.
Yeah, me too. I wish I hadn't messed it up on this test!
LOL...no problem, we've all been there. What I've done recently is mix the wood pellets with hamster wood bedding. The shavings of the hamster bedding keep the flame on the wood pellets. That might be a good test for you!!
Nice video, it is nice too see how the different methods work!
duma bernard thank you for watching I'm glad you found it helpful!
such a versatile little stove I really like it and a good test on the different kinds of wood for fuel.
Thanks again James!
I love these setup, that's fantasic. Love being outside und cooking good food.
That's the spirit! Thanks!
Have the original 5inch firebox and love it. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Your video's are always very entertaining. It is very clear that you really care about your business and family! I would also say too that you stove looks to be very convenient to use!
I'm glad my priorities show through! Thanks!
great video and really good comparison of different ways of burning fuel
Thanks Malcom!
Interesting concept, thank you for this video demonstrating different fuel and methods. Good luck all! Happy trails
Thanks Shawn! I'm glad you found it useful!
You're welcome brother! Happy Father's day air really should be thanking my dad for discovering your channel. He loves light weight camping, and if you have time stop by his channel, and give him a like or subscribe. I'll try and link his channel for ya, nothing crazy just adventures he goes on.
I enjoyed this comparison. The side feed and top feed method work the best for a controlled and consistent fire. Good use of fuel too. Both methods will allow me time to cook a few meal items. However, the Swedish fire method is a much more long lasting fire for cooking. It will allow me time to toast a few marshmallows for s'mores! Thanks, Steve.
Hi Jan :) You make me happy!
I got a Firebox G2 5" (stainless steel) finally. It's made in USA, very much well-thought, sturdy, charming, versatile and wind proof. I love it !
Usually I can carry only one stove with my motorcycle. I am sure this is the one for me especially for a long trip, because it's
so versatile and wind proof. I will bring it to my next long camp touring.
I liked how Swedish fire torch is good for grilling, so I will challenge split lumber Swedish torch with Firebox, although I have a concern whether my Japanese nata axe will make it.
Greetings from Japan.
Well thank you very much! I'm so glad you like it and I hope you get lots of chances to enjoy it 👍😎
@@fireboxstove Hello, I used Firebox G2 in two camp sites already.
I used it to keep warm, cook and make coffee with Bialetti Moka Express 3cup. I enjoyed camping night time with the Firebox in front of me so much !!
I tried top feed, side feed and Swedish fire torch at night, and Trangia alcohol burner in the morning.
I like its versatility, flexibility, adjustable intake air volume functionality with ash pan, stress-free and no-warping very much. It suits my camping use. Truely great gear !!!!
Great demonstration of great products. I start with top feed twigs and when that's going, I side feed. Still want to try the Swedish torch method. I love this stuff! 👍
Thanks hog driver 88, once you learn how the fire responds to different methods you can to match your method to what you're trying to accomplish. An example would be the swedish torch would be awesome for a long boil. Makes it a lot of fun 👍👌😎
Nice comparison Steve. Slope load for pellets exposes more surface area and encourages flames to climb on the angled load.
Thanks, that's what I was thinking too.
Heya Steve,
Awesome example of how to keep a fire going efficiently with five different methods.
I personally like tending a fire so I perfer the side feed method. Perfer the Swedish method for long burns, great for baking and long cooking times.
My kids will enjoy your stoves for years to come.

Thanks so much for your feedback Steve!
I enjoyed your experiment of fuels proving you can use many fuels, really gave me food for thought when I get my stove to use. I have every intention to buying one when I can.
Thanks again Jules appreciate you watching and commenting on my videos!
can't wait till I order my firebox. thanks for the great video!
Thanks Guy!
Love your stove designs and your videos. Thanks Steve
always enjoy the testing of the stoves, cat litter pellets make great full for wood stoves. but my favorite thanks to you is the Swedish fire
Nice! Me too!
Saw this on Expedition Jonny's channel being used. I'm going to shake him down for his old one to make Promotional video's as we cook every night over a big dangerous fire on the off grid property. This stove looks amazing! Compact, small travel size, light weight, durable, easy to set up and use plus there's attachments for those that use Bottled LP. My wife wants me to build a brick fire stove for outside. Who's got time for that? 😁 Are these being sold on Bespoke?
Thanks! Yes it's a lot of fun! If you hurry you can get a good deal on it via Kickstarter here's a link
www.kickstarter.com/projects/foldingfirebox/firebox-folding-chefs-knife?ref=3aoh9p&token=acaeb444
I really am so impressed. Like smaller efficient combination of all your eqippment.if i was younger i would buy it all.
Thanks janet! I appreciate your endorsement!
Just cook my first T-bone on my new 5x5. Awesome flavor and easy to use! Love it!
Awesome! I'm glad you're having good success right from the first!
Nice video. Liked and shared. Thanks for the toys. Got all four!
Awesome! Thanks so much!
I love these tests :) I'm looking forward to my new purchase and many outings of fun with the g2 Firebox and the Nano - should be arriving MONDAY. So stoked - thanks again, Steve!!!
Very cool! Thank you!
A Swede here.. ;) Might be ordering your stove.. Seems like a nifty thing. I already have a Triangia kitchen and a gas stove but this one seems cool and easy to find fuel for since if i walk 5 meters outside my door i have a whole forest with sticks and trees ;)
That whole forest of trees will definitely come in handy with this stove! I am glad you like what you see, you will not be disappointed with your stove. Thank you for commenting and watching!
Interesting test. Will have to try the wood pellet method soon.
Thanks! I plan on doing some more testing with pellets soon!
Great comparison! I personally love using the Swedish fire torch method.
Me too! Thanks!
Wow Steve... very informative the fuel selection. I've been thinking about purchasing some of your products. Lately I've been living off grid and really luv your RUclips input.. good stuff 👍.
That's awesome, I bet it's nice. Thank you for your comment and support Sean, we appreciate you.
That new G2 has gotten me off the fence for a firebox vs. that other one whose name we won't mention! Great product, I'd love to win one.
Lol, no contest! ;)
Great side by side comparisons!
Thanks Fred!
Never tried swedish torch method , can't wait thanks.
Thanks! One day I just thought, why not do a swedish fire torch in the stove. Tried it and never looked back, works great!
Love these stoves. Camping season coming up. Time to win one.👍
Always enjoy watching your videos. This was the first one that didn't make me hungry.
Lol, Yeah, I'm going to be doing more of these test videos between the cooking shows.
Two years too late again! Seriously tho, I came along to have a look before deciding what I wanna buy and why I wanna buy it. Thanks for sharing.
I'm so glad you like it! Thank you!
Certainly shows the versatility of your design. I think the Canadian Candle (thats what we call it here :) is my favourite setup.
Thanks Mark!
one of the best, if not THE best stove on the market!
Thank you!
Awesome info video. Need one on the small Firebox version.
Thanks Heather!
Happy New Year. I just ordered and paid for one. I have been checking all of the different small wood combo stoves. This Firebox setup is just what I need. I will be doing some motorcycle trips this upcoming year and this will be used and I am sure will provide me with a needed way to cook on the trips.
Thanks so much Jim! I hope you have a great time! Please check in after your first trip with the Firebox.
I love this stove. Won't go outback without it.
Thanks! I'm so glad you like it!
I'm going to try the fire torch method for the first time when I take my son camping this summer.
You'll love it! Thanks!
My wife and I enjoy your vids, keep them coming. You caught our attention with your camping video where you made chocolate chip cookies. We're probably late on your contest, maybe nextime.
Thanks J-Dog!
Love my stoves man. Can’t get enough of em. Hell Ild like a 8” version to double duty for a lil bigger camp fire
I picked up the German “Wika FlexFire 6 Premium” kit for that. LOVE IT!
Look into the Winnerwell fire pits. They come in several sizes, fold flat and are a heavy gauge SS. I got the large one for use at home or car camping and I got the raised stand that is designed for their fire pits. I also got their SS backpacking stove. Both are well worth a look. I’m happy with my Firebox and the Winnerwell also. I think many of us have a bunch of various stoves, including our home made hobo stoves and IKEA stoves.
Very cool. I've been planning on buying a little firebox stove, it's great to see a real review.
Thanks David!
