Oh man this song means a lot to me. The year was 2004 and Tyrese Gibson performed the song in Swakopmund, Namibia. I saw him perform it live at the beach, one just gets that proud african feeling when the song plays. Respect. Proud African. Chapter126
I think we as Africans never showed much appreciation for this truck, why not inviting tyres each year to Africa to celebrate African freedom day and make it big each time? Anybody in support?
Dedicating this song to all the youth in Nigeria, including those who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom and a better live..... 20/10/2020 we love you our falling heroes
The song was dedication of 126 year old woman who died poor in Namibia, while he was filming the movie, He bought a cow towards her burial, got nothing to do with a movie
Want to dedicate this to Nigerian Youth this year 2022 who daily are being derided, crushed, marginalized, suppressed, raped and killed by same group of leaders who took over the affairs of the country in their 30s and have held tenaciously to power for decades. Freedom, Freedom Freedom
At the time, we lost our oldest living citizen in Namibia @ the age of 126 while Tyrese was shooting a movie in Namibia. He honoured her with this lovely song..... Thank you Tyrese 5:05
Just came to listen to this song for the 1000th time and it still touches me so much. Truly amazing. I won't leave anymore comments or at least I will try not to but people just have to know how amazing this song is ♥
Psalm 126: When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dreamed... Great song! Back in the day, I listened to this song on repeat during a 10 hour trip.
Been trying to fimd this song for a long time and now that I finally got it...it's playing non-stop. South Africa got this freedom because we fought tooth and nail for it. Dope track Mr Gibson#amandla#
This is one of the beautiful songs ever made. Much respect to Black Ty. He's one of the best singers out there and really hasn't gotten his flowers yet.
I say Black Ty as a compliment and with so much love and respect to anyone that has a problem with it. Tyrese was known as Black or Chocolate Ty in his earlier career. Very fitting because he is so gorgeous. And talented. I wish him even more success. ♥
Anyone here ever experienced the frustration of hearing a song many years ago, not hearing it for many years, forgetting what it was called or not knowing its name, and then hearing it 18 years later? Yup, this is the song for me.

So sad that no one knows the message behind this song: This song was written about an elderly women that lived in Namibia; during the Apartheid era. Tyrese met this phenomenal woman and she told him about her struggles, and when she passed away at 126 years old, he wrote this song. It is believed that he contributed towards her funeral too.

(hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...)
Yeah, I wanna dedicate this song
To Africa and 126, let's go
(oooooooooooooooh...)
I come to you humble and grateful
For my freedom
Not only freedom physically but freedom of the mind
And freedom of my Spirit
In Jesus name, Amen
[Verse 1:]
Don't leave me out cause I'm black
Don't leave me out cause I'm white
Leave me cause I'm treating you wrong
When I'm supposed to treat you right (ooh)
Don't leave me out in the cold
Treat me like I'm 12 years old
Reason that I'm from Africa
And I can stand wherever I want (ooh)
I can see it so clearly
Soon as I stare in your eyes
Yeah you're making more money than me
That don't mean I'm not qualified
I wake up every morning (I wake up)
With a smile on my face (smilin')
Thanking the Lord for giving me
Another opportunity to feed my family, ooh aah
First I try to come up
And you hold me down
First you let me in
Then you kick me out
Can somebody tell me
What is a man to do?
Everyday I pray to the man above
Can he stop the hate and show me some love
Turn to Chapter 126, all she wanted for us was
[Chorus:]
Freedom, Freedom, Freedom, ooh
Freedom, don't want to
Freedom, oooh Freedom, oooh Freedom, oooh
(oooooooooooooh...)
Mentally and Spiritually
HUMMMMMMMMMM...
[Tyrese Spoken voice:]
We thank Mandela and everyone whose
Contributed to the freedom of Africa
Without you where would we be?
Come on
[Verse 2:]
Soon as you try to say no (no)
I'm coming right back to say yes (yes)
You're giving me fuel to my fire
Another reason to pump my fist, ooh
You make so much money off us (off us)
In return you don't show us no love (no love)
In movies, documentaries still
Hungry kids all in the streets, ooh
I wake up every morning
With a smile on my face (smilin')
Thanking the Lord for givin' me another opportunity
To feed my family, first I
First I try to come up
Then you hold me down
First you let me in, then you kick me out
Can somebody tell me, what is a man to do?
Everyday I pray to the man above
Can he stop the hate and show me some love
Turn to page and chapter 126
Cause all she ever wanted was
[Chorus:]
Freedom, Freedom, Freedom, ooh
Freedom, don't want to
Freedom (freedom), Freedom, ooh
Freedom, ooh
Mentally and Spiritually
HUMMM (freedom)
Hold your hands up high (freedom)
All the way to the sky (freedom)
If you wanna be free (I want freedom)
Sing along with me (freedom)
South Africa, Namibia, (freedom)
Kenya, Ethiopia, (freedom)
Ghana, Zambia (I want freedom)
I feel your pain, feel your pain (freedom)
Pyramids of Egypt (freedom)
Show some love, that's the way to live (freedom)
