This is so amazing to see PMS & HARVESTING this big now. I remember being on the ground floor when Todd first started w/3 trucks, 1 cutter & 1 packing tractor.
Damn....😲
1st time me and my cousin were hired by a farmer who we had been hanging around his shop. The time to cut silage , he had a milk herd that mostly his was taking care of. He ran a fix it shop and bought a used dozer for packing and he asked a kid me if I could run it. Was honest I probably can but really be new for me. Build it high as you can don't get it wide and pack it all day. He would buy a dozer with some problems and the silage would clean it while getting the job done. Cousin ran a tractor pulling a wagon. 2 other farmers would help and we would help them. Dad didn't ask much about the job but was glad we had got a job.
That sounds like an adventure! 🤩
@@amazingfarming1462 yeah pretty young didn't have drivers license rode our bikes to hangout or went with great uncle who we would help with some of his adventures. Being hired for a job because he thought we could do it. He said to ask our dads and mine was like ok. Don't know if he had talked to him about the job but dad acted like it was fine.

Does anyone else remember when farmers used to grow vegetables? Growing up we could go by fields with anything from pickles to peppers, now corn for silage and soy beans. It's a rare sight to see a field of corn that is harvested for the for the ears of corn and not just chopped up. Bon Appetit!!!
try texas
Так то да, правильно говоришь
We're do you live? I'm Michigan we raise field corn, soy beans, black bean, white beans, Lima beans, etc etc on the dry beans. Seen a farmer this year planting green beans we had to stop and watch the harvest because this isn't something we do on our farm. We also plant sugar beets, potatoes. And some areas grow lots of carrots. Your vegetables can't be grown in any old soil so that is why we don't do vegetables. Dry beans, corn and sugar beets are very common for our type of ground. Lots of farmers grow sweet corn and sell at road side stands but that isn't how they make a living it's only pocket money .
I have never seen a fresh grown pickle. What does the plant look like?
Been in farming one way or another from the 70
Where does the frozen ears of corn come from, and can corn if it is all be chopped up for feed. And here (Texas) we have fresh corn in the stores most of the warm months.
That farm is raising their silage for their livestock, as not having to buy it. They are at their TX panhandle location, that is a dairy farm. (milk factory)
Where I live we have one farmer with a large farm who plants corn every 2 weeks throughout the season and he has corn for sale sweet corn from July to October

AMERICAN FARMERS…Still the backbone of America!
holy MOLY that silage pile is MONSTEROUS!! ile be honest credit where credit is due to this dedicated hardworking team of farmers to work their butts off to harvest and tend to this silage pile
Я просто восхищаюсь работой
WOW I wish I was part of that, I grew up working on a farm in Michigan when I was young and now Im almost retired and live in Montana and I really miss it.
Wow that. Crazy how old are you man?
1200 ton per hour! 😃 That's awesome
I appreciate the time you take to research and present accurate information. It’s why I trust your channel
Beautiful and good work
It is unbelievable that in just a few minutes, the machine has harvested such a large area. The performance is amazing.
Ce que vous avez le savoir faire. Je suis fière de vous
Oh yeah nice again
Look at the bigest and amazing ..greeting from thailand...
Masha Allah Nice working
With these stacks it's almost unthinkable how we used to chop with a three row head and tandem axle silage box.
Oh yeah! We chop with contractors Krone Big X with 10 row head, but it's too big for our small farm, but it is his smalles chopper :D
I saw the Amish last week they had 4 horses hooked up to a 1 row cutter that loaded the complete stalk onto a wagon which they took to the barn and chopped it. They worked all day on about 3 acres we do that in about 15 minutes
ive seen piles half this size with a three row corn head tip box dumping into silage trucks. long days with 3 rows only lol
I dairy farm with my parents we have 120 milk cows and raise our own heifers. We run a 4455jd on a 900 NH 3 row head. We put up 8 or 9, 9×200 bags every year plus a few bags of haylage and rye. Dad chops, and I do all the hauling. It wouldn't work for us to pile it because it would take more people. It usually takes us 10 or 12 days to get corn all chopped.
When I was young silage for the most part was stored in silos. There were some farms that had pit silos but the larger farms had Harvestore silos they controlled the fermentation best. I remember how that smelled.
😮that's really awesome looking

While this is impressive to see, it's sad to think about the huge amount of small mom and pop farms that were put out of business by these large corporate farms.
I work in an industry similar to this, but with ranches instead of farms. And more often than not, unfortunately, it's usually the farmer/rancher that gives up the farm willingly. Health reasons, kids aren't interested in taking it over or they don't have kids at all, taxes, environmental factors, there's a pile of reasons large companies take over small family farms. And it's generally mutual.
True
But at least the bigger farms buy the small farms for more than there worth
@@Liam-h5o no they don't, they take advantage of the small farm owners, and acquire their farms for pennies on the dollar, or they wouldn't be buying them.
@@tomchrisfield7348 sometimes they pay more than they are worth

Crazy, here where I live everything is small sized 😳
oh yes, here where I live everything is medium sized but pretty nice machines. We also got a small farm
My corn silage is going into a pile 8 miles away. The Moore county Texas pile is so huge they seem next door. These are just mole hills!
Unbelievable 🤪

Bro about to become rich if he do that in fs22
I want to learn to do this packing
We used to spread the silage on the stacks by hand using pitch forks, while I was still at school I could earn more in a day on a stack (or picking up hay bales) than an apprentice earned in a week, I'm in my late 60's now
I want to see your dairy farm
Maybe I can show in the future, our biggest tractor is a John Deere 6220, we run our farm with lot of passion :)
Enough to feed cows for at least 2years
I see too many tractors driving in circles and trucks sitting still. If a tractor isn't on the silage pile it's not working. If a truck is stopped it's wasted.
