Similar story with me. I went to college for 2 years, dropped out cuz I hated it and was left with a fat debt. I've been debt free for a few years now but back then, my student loans were my highest monthly expense and prevented me from moving out of my parent's house until I payed it off. It's something that will take time. Just gotta take it month by month, making sure you're making your payments. It'll take a long time but eventually you won't have it hanging over your head anymore.
Seeing Americans having debt for college is mindblowing for a person who live in a country where college is expensive, but most people still able to get a degree with little debt.

word of advice: community college for the ones unable to go to college, you get a better path with lesser cost, assuming you're able to go to the ones that are free or cost almost nothing. so relatable. because I myself didn't get to collage because i didn't have money. several University offer me scholarship,but after reading the content carefully,they only cover 1/4 of the tutorial fee. so I decide drop collage and work any job that come to me to get money for buying food now, I'm working as security officer,I can't say it have the greatest payment. even I often went red at the end month,and it's pretty tiring (coz my boss often makes me do random work), I'm pretty grateful can pay my house rent and sometimes treat myself with food that I like.
there are full scholarships, but you need to attain certain high grade constantly without fail. theres a catch and pressure to it, if that situation would just make you fall into depression it might even better to not do it

Also, all states have public state schools that offer reduced tuition towards people in that state. Said schools also may offer decent merit-based scholarships. In addition all colleges are federally required to offer specific kinds of financial aid for people below certain income levels. The problem is that you have to apply for this stuff, and it’s not widely known.

Even if it works out, the salary isn't necessarily bigger, the job or carrier not fulfilling, there is no progression, or it's just simply unfulfilling. Surely, I would say it's better than crippling debt. But it's still a lot of time, effort wasted, and that hits people emotionally, which disadvantages them even further.

My first journey to college was something like that, I just found something I thought I would like, struggled for 4 years and dropped out. I'm in again, but for something I truly enjoy. Now I think grades and classes are not the focus of it, it is the people you meet and the projects you do with them around your interests. If you ever try again, I recommend this mindset.
College isn't quite a scam, but it ain't always the best investment either... She saved herself a lot of time and money by not going to college and she should be proud that she didn't need to waste those resources to get to where she is now. For anyone looking where to go after high school, consider a trade school. They are less expensive AND less time consuming. If you still want to go to college like your peers, go to a community college for your first two years and then transfer to a university. Probably won't save you time but it will save you money.
I was in the exact situation. I did 2 year in city college bc it's what I could afford when all my classmates went to college. Had to even stop that for family reasons. That was a very hard to see at that time. I fell back on self taught computer skills, got a job in tech and I'm now a Sr SDET, have no college debt and own a home when all my colleagues have small apartments and tons of debt in their 30s. Found my happy place as I genuinely love what I do. Point being I get her and to anyone in a similar situation, there's always different ways in life and there can be good things past the bad circumstances.

Started working. Did overworks. Got some money. Did another trading skill. Didn't work out either. I got more money in my previous job. I started working, using my handiness and labor, going towards better paying jobs, doing things mainly with machine operations and production. It's nice. I learned things. Now I'm planning to learn another skill. I can already make wonderful cakes, code, make websites, and forklift certified. Finds things that make you happy, and places, things, with which you can work. Things you can do. Don't underestimate yourself. If you put in your CV that you are capable, ready to learn and work, handy or able, you already got it. The real world is more about excels, and less about rocket science. Working for yourself is harder, but it is just steps away. Doing it gives you experience, routine, knowledge and that helps in pretty much everything.

Not being able to attend college even if you wanted to because it's expensive sucks. From where I'm from a lot of Universities are actually free or the tuition is cheap (except if you want to go to a fancy one). Our town even gives scholarship to everyone as long as you prove that you're from there but since a lot of the schools have cheap or free tuition anyways that scholarship just basically becomes our pocket money.
The quota for scholarship is limited and only few got them. There is student loan, but I heard it was nightmare to pay it back. It is common story that some people cant go to college like her.

Not being able to attend college even if you wanted to because it's expensive sucks. From where I'm from a lot of Universities are actually free or the tuition is cheap (except if you want to go to a fancy one). Our town even gives scholarship to everyone as long as you prove that you're from there but since a lot of the schools have cheap or free tuition anyways that scholarship just basically becomes our pocket money.

Financial aid still requires decent grades...so if Finana can't balance that, it'll still be a wasted investment.
The quota for scholarship is limited and only few got them. There is student loan, but I heard it was nightmare to pay it back. It is common story that some people cant go to college like her.
@@sejama6625 or nessarily depends on the grant but at least in the us you have to be at least half time and some of the better ones of grade requirements.
Even if she wanted aid, her parents probably made enough income that they can support her and then she would probably be rejected for that aid but just speculating

Mate, 70% of shit I had to go through in college is practically worthless. Only my majors are the ones that managed to help and I swear my majors are more chill than my fking minors. My study load woudve decreased by a fkton if it weren't for it.
