The drop kick was just living out a dream we all had playing football in our yards growing up.

Peter King talked about what happened after Julio Jones had 300 receiving yards for the Falcons against the Panthers in 2016. Such a performance would have earned him a spot on a podium before the media often occupied by quarterbacks and coaches. Jones declined to be on the podium, which King said showed Jones’ typical humility.

I lived in Atlanta for a time when Julio was balling out and I can attest he was hardly humble 😂

Another great story that was forgotten to time that shows how a true teammate acts. Bravo to Doug Flutie many years later.

That's an oddity: Both starting QB's finishing under the magic 39.6 passer rating (minimum 10 attempts)

It sucks that I pay for no ads, and I still have to sit through them. I get it. Content creators have to make their living. At least you put yours up front, which makes it easier to skip through....

You could have a field day with that Bears Colts game. There were dumb decisions by both coaches and a very clueless comment by the announcer

This was easily one of the worst games I've seen a quarterback play. The irony is that Flutie had tons of talent - arm, speed, elusiveness, Hall of Fame leadership skills, and the coolest head in the game. The only thing he lacked was size, and being born in 1962 instead of 1972. The NFL was a pocket-passing league when he first arrived, and even in his second stint many coaches were still wedded to that style, which obviously didn't play to Flutie's strengths. I was a Flutie fanboy, and it frustrated me that Kordell Stewart was granted three years of unassailed mediocrity in Pittsburgh while Flutie kept winning games and then being benched for a vastly, measurably, obviously inferior player. You could practically hear the communal groan in Buffalo every time Rob Johnson was reinstated as the starter.
Flutie in the CFL was ridiculous, like a grown man playing with a bunch of kids or a pro QB playing in college - he was just so obviously the best player on the field. He wouldn't have been that dominant had he spent his prime in the NFL, even in a run-and-shoot offense. But he'd have been one of the best QBs in league.

Do you have the game from the late 80s/early 90s where a Patriots receiver pretended to be hurt, then flew by the Jets' defense for an easy TD. It was the most hilarious thing I ever saw in a football game. I think it was one of the NFL games on TNT.

I can't blame Flutie for refusing NBC's interview request considering how poorly he played. His teams might have been undefeated at the Meadowlands when he started up to that point, but this win was definitely not in part because of him.
