Adrien Brody + "the -ist" = recipe for success
They should have known this simple trick when releasing "American Heist"!
(13% on Rotten Tomatoes)
The Cookist
Can't wait to see Adrien Brody in a race
@bastienK That is simply because they forgot to add 'The' to the front
Especially if it’s about a Holocaust survivor who excels in his creative field
the academy needs to add a "best font" category
😂.. I think that's *_roboto_*
Avatar not nominated
@gladitsnotme They used Papyrus AGAIN!
@raulgaletsbut in bold
Just have a five hour film of just fonts
"MONUMENTAL" from five different publications is an insane flex, shout out to whoever decided to use that as the pull quote
And an amazing pun
@davidna6465 A Monumental pun.
If the Daily Beast liked it, it must be really good. lol
More an example of film critics just needing to be punsters
I have high hopes for this movie, but the reviewers they cited wouldn’t know a good movie if it crawled up their pippi longstockings.
One of the best films I have watched over the last 5 years.
A24 & Adrien Brody, i'm sold.
From Pianist to Brutalist, Adrien Brody hasn't aged a day ❤
I first saw him in King of the Hill and just thought he did a great job. Always enjoyed his films
people will say this about any hollywood actor/actress under 10lbs of makeup 😆
Oh look, another internet commenter who isn't aware of the existence of make up, plastic surgery, and lighting.
Some folks have that slow aging gene.
He absolutely has but ok
Adrien Brody in this still look the same as he was on The Pianist
And if the word on the street is true, they may both win him oscars
Yeah he looks great still
He looks like Robert De Niro in the thumbnail.
He looked old then and he looks old now.
well a little older ;)
The most inventive trailer I've seen in recent history
Then have a look at trailers of Jean-Luc Godard's last films like Adieu Au Langage and Le livre d'image.
BOOORIIIIIING
By inventive you mean shit?
if its about holocaust . it'll gain its popularity
@monica-fx3yl Cry about it.
A24 is the one of the only studios keeping hollywood alive. The cinematography in this is giving me 70 film vibes.
Interestingly enough, it will be shown in 70MM at select theaters, starting in NYC & LA, December 20th.
A24 is the best known art film distributor, but there a lot of other studios/distributors i'd recommend. IFC Films , Kino Lorber, Bleecker Street, Janus films, Magnolia pictures
@davidpappachan3551NEON too.
They should’ve made more Stephen King TV instead of letting big studios cancels them. It’s all A24 fault
nope
Adrian Brody just won an Academy Award for this movie
Adrien Brody doing an accent is always great
That shot of the Statue of Liberty is worth the price of admission
ROFL why
That scene is excellent! Cinema in at his best.
No it's not.
Followed by the sound of laughter and genuine joy mixed in with this amazing score is insane 🤦🏽♂️
bit hyperbolic there
Looks like the type of movie that wins 4 Oscars but loses Best Picture to a buzzy tearjerker lol
Anora?
I hope it sweeps
@Gavin48 does Anora really fit "buzzy tearjerker"? It's going to be something more basic.
So, still bad?
@MrSnuffer93 It just doesn't look good from what I've seen but everyone else says otherwise so maybe it is
The pianist is one of my top 5 movies of all time.
I keep coming back here just to hear those horns again
Read the story. So pathetically boring and gae
That said, I keep expecting The Association’s “Never My Love”.
Never have I wanted to watch a film so quickly after watching a trailer. Cinema is back on the menu.
Now I'm totally picturing an uruk-hai munching on popcorn, blissfully unaware that he's blocking the screen for all the hobbits & men sat behind him.
legit. havent seen a movie ive wanted to see in theaters for YEARS
Amazing. a trailer that shows absolutely nothing and you can't wait to see it...typical liberal dumbass mindset...not one of these A24 productions has ever been successful but ur the type who hangs out at art galleries and says..."this is art" but has no idea what they are looking at because the artist has no idea what they created... you only live once and this is how you go through life...being fake and enjoying something worth nothing...
Looks like some propaganda garbage. As usual Hollywood with aligning itself with left and making sure to tell you an incredible immigration story. Right at the time where america has actually fallen off due to immigration. Never have there been less architects moving to America. While also never have more illegal convicts and criminals entered usa…
and the Oscar for absolutely everything goes to... The Brutalist
This has to be the most intriguing, non-generic one minute trailer I have ever seen in my life. Most trailers of the decade have had a very similar editing style, which don't usually fit the film's style. But this...feels different.
Yep almost as fresh & different like how PTA edited his own trailers for *The Master* back then lol! It really was unique! Didn't had the typical temp score shit like trailer music with badum drums and whatnot.
And the music in this soo good though btw!!
A24 puts out some of the best trailers and movies and this definitely is up there. Love Adrien Brody, definitely looking forward to this one.
@albhem_eh Really felt that PTA influence in this as well.
this trailer is terrible lol. it give you 0 information. all style, no substance
@doctorposting yeah next time you ask them to make sure to give away whole movie in 3 mins trailer then like how MCU or other boring ass crap blockbuster trailer you're used to seeing where u need spoonfeeding of info cause ur unable to use any of that troll brain cells of urs to get the idea of a film aesthetic or tone from a teaser/trailer.
So this is basically the good version of “Megalopolis”
Well done Adrien Brody...another Oscar!!
Saw this at TIFF. Unbelievable film with magnificent scope and fantastic performances. They rarely make movies like this anymore and it demands to be seen on the biggest screen possible.
is it actually as good as there will be blood, the godfather, and barry lyndon?
i saw your mom at TIFF
@maxwellschott6660wtiff
It's 3 hours and 35 minutes, I better buckle up for this movie. Especially for Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, and Guy Pearce
@maxwellschott6660me two!!!! SHE PEGGED ME
Guy Pearce is so underrated
0:45 hey guys I hear this movie is monumental
😅 ikr
Says who?
@colinh4860five different major publications apparently 💪🏻
The best teaser ever!!! Wow ❤❤❤
over 4 publications
The sparks and cigarette scene!!! Damn!!
Adrien Brody is like Daniel Day Lewis.
He makes a great film, wins an award, gets out of the spotlight, live a normally and repeats the cycle.
Absurd take. Adrien Brody has done 9 films in the last 4 years, you just haven’t noticed because they were pretty much all terrible until this one
He also starred in numerous TV show. Most notably an episode of Succession. Lookup Josh Aaronson.
Can't remember DDL making a Predator movie
@temujin1337 Are you kidding? DDL was the foliage in AVP!
Until he goes on SNL.......
Adrien Brody is coming for another Oscar
I’m glad I’m not the only one that noticed just how phenomenal that font style was. I’ve literally never seen this before and have watched tons of trailers. Bravo whoever edited this, seriously
This score is fantastic, there needs to be an oscar category for trailers now lmao
Awesome to see Guy Pearce in a movie like this. He's one of the more underrated actors out there...
I agree 100%. He's been awesome in so many movies, yet they keep on passing on him. Memento, LA Confidential, The Proposition, Lawless.
@robertoherrera5957 Yes, but acting is its own reward. Guy has had brilliant success. I'm worried about the asparagus picker, the dishwasher, and the butcher.
I will always love him as Leonard Shelby from San Francisco.
Are yall not even gonna mention The Time Machine from the H.G. Wells book? I loved him in that movie
Yes I loved him in Neighbours 😊
Guy Pearce never lets me down
They need an academy award for best film trailer honestly.
oh look, a trailer that isn't generic paint-by-numbers! Thanks for this.
Round of applause for A24’s trailers. They’re friggin awesome and do the job of giving you just enough to want to watch the film without revealing too much. 👏👏👏
Read the story. So pathetically boring and gae
I hate nowadays trailers, always mini versions of the movie. This one is so good.
Now this is how you do a trailer.
i keep coming back to this the score sounds so fucking sick
Didnt think i needed a movie based on an architectural style i enjoyed but i dig it.
Formatting of the trailer alone really set a tone I'm excited to see realized.
Nothing to enjoy about Brutalist architecture
@thenewnationpodcast well not in isolation. Or in the context of fascistic governments needing cookie cutter buildings. But architects can do some fun things while playing within the limits of concrete, especially shape and light. And I like the way these spaces look when in use, especially if the geometry is just a little off. Almost like people found an alien ruin and decided to set up shop in it. The idea that we're only borrowing the places we occupy.
Personal taste and infinitely better than all the identical steel and glass sky scrapers in every city on Earth.
@SloMoMonday nah, it has no redemptive qualities 😅
@SloMoMonday but it looks shit
@thenewnationpodcast You just don't even know what Brutalism actually is
I would never doubt Adrien Brody. And A24.
now that's a trailer.
It's nice to see a trailer edited by people who love movies enough to put in more than the barest minimum of effort.
The graphic design is pure art.
Was fortunate to see a 70mm print of this at Beyond Fest, and was completely knocked out by it. A truly remarkable film.
What is it about?
@liminlspace a renowned Hungarian-Jewish architect who comes to America post-WWII to pursue the American Dream.
@emmanuelsalazar9424 Thankyou 🥰
lucccckkkyyy
@emmanuelsalazar9424sounds pretentious
Fun Fact : A24 acquired this movie shortly after the Venice Film Festival premiere for $10 million in a competitive situation. When A24 spent all that money to buy this movie's rights, you know it's going to be damn good
10 mill is nothing, they got a bargain, probably because they were willing to release it theaters, even on 70mm. Apple Paid 20 for Flora and Sun, Amazon 12mill for The Big Sick, both are much smaller movies.
It’s 3+ hours with an intermission. Most studios probably don’t think it’s going to make a profit. But there’s getting to be too much buzz around it that I think it’s going to do okay.
This is a common occurrence with most movies at festivals. Nothing special about this fun fact.
@t19040 you're not replying to a real person, these are bots who scavenge pieces of information on wikipedia or elsewhere to generate discussion & drive up the engagement. nobody talks like this
when a movie is acquired for $10 mil, that money goes directly into director's pockets right?
I always remembered Brady Corbet as the kid from Mysterious Skin, had no idea he was a director let alone one with this kind of ambition. Looks like the kind of sprawling epic we don’t see very much of anymore
I know, it's crazy. For me, he was and only ever has been the kid stuck in a hostage situation in Ontario Airport, CA in season 5 of 24.
@JacobRavenglass He was the kid from Thunderbirds to me lol.
Oh! One of the 2 insane kids from Funny Games. Cool!
his range is insane to believe
he was in Funny Games remake with Michael Pitt.
A year since this teaser came out, I still get chills every time I watched it
I haven't even watched the trailer, but seeing Adrien Brody in the thumbnail, I've already made up my mind: I'm definitely checking this out.
Adrien Brody + anything = masterpiece
So happy to see Adrien Brody back!!! He deserved more lead roles after The Pianist!!!!
I praise the Celluloid Gods for ensuring there is still someone left in Movieland who knows how to make a Trailer.
Waiting for Brody`s second Oscar so much. I think he`s deserve it. Absolutely mesmerizing transformation talent
I saw this at TIFF you know a movie is so good that even with it's Running Time I still want to see it again.
Adrien Brody smoking a cigarette = a good film
Haven't seen this yet but Brady Corbet will finally get the recognition he deserves
I loved this at Venice. I couldn't believe what I was watching. So great. Especially the cinematography and the score. All the actors were brilliant, Brody and Pierce incredible, but I loved Felicity Jones the most. She has such memorable scenes.
I cried at the ending. Absurd
I wonder which Brutalist are we talking about here? Someone who moved state side post war and found success there.
Or is it a frictional character in the movement?
Le Corbusier?
@suisinghoraceho2403 The story is completely invented
@PoiU23 So frictional but plausible experience then.
Intriguing! I still remember his amazing performance in the Pianist.
Amazing how he still looks like he did in the pianist
The Oscars should consider adding a Best Teaser category.
This trailer would be in the Razzies not the Oscars
No, they should not 😅 Not a bad teaser though!
Why tf
And poster art also
Gotta be the most beautiful and out-of-the-box trailer.
The best teaser ever!!! Wow ❤❤❤
The best teaser ever!!! Wow ❤❤❤
The way he maneuvers out of the boat at the beginning and walks into the light, while all the sound effects around him mimick the kind of claustrophobia and distress he would have experienced as a survivor of the Holocaust, is the kind of brilliance I am astonished is taking place in a *trailer* let alone in the film itself. This is going to be an all-timer.
Read the story. So pathetically boring and gae
Update: I saw it, and I was right. Easily best film of 2024 and one of the best of the decade so far.
Best scene of the film !
The typography is insane.
This looks like what Coppola's Megalopolis should have been
graphic designer COOKED
So pleased for Brady Corbet !
I smell Potential Oscar again for “Brody” probably.
0:38. Bro, this shot and this whole trailer man. Already deserves an Award. No more trailers👍🏾
the a24 aesthetics make any trailer good
This looks like what Francis Ford Coppola thought Megalopolis was going to be 💀💀💀
I’m watching this purely for Guy Pearce, one of the most under-appreciated actors of all-time.
He is absolutely *phenomenal* in this movie... you will be blown away.
@avary8080 good to hear. I’m usually not the biggest fan of movies that are just purely drama and prefer if there is at least another genre element in them to enjoy it, plus this is 3 hours long. It’d have to be a really special drama like The Hunt, but from what I’m hearing this looks to be one of the movies of the year.
He might get an Oscar for this. Truly one of our best working actors. 😎
Agreed. Incredibly versatile and underrated actor...
Guy Pearce...does he still look like he just came off a 48 hour meth binge?
A truly MONUMENTAL achievement.
Excellent trailer. Whoever edited it needs an immediate raise.
However, they didn't add that Brady Corbet won the Best Director award at Venice for this. A significant achievement, he is the youngest to win the award in the history of the festival.
There needs to be an Oscar category for best trailer!
I wouldn't call it a trailer, but a teaser. It didn't make me interested in the film.
@ArtIlanothe golden trailer awards
@Beeti1 Yeah I still don't have any idea what it's about, imho an "excellent trailer" should at least give you that much, smh.
@russell2449 Maybe it's just because I'm a designer, so I have context, but it seems like this will be a biopic of Reyner Banham, the man who invented brutalism architecture (hence the film name).
I absolutely love this teaser. What a picture..
i come back to this everyday. need a 2nd trailer asappp
This is my Megalopolis.
True
They could make 20 The Brutalists (reported $6M budget) for the price of 1 Megalopolis (reported $120M budget). 🙃
Haha I came to comment something like "is this the awake version of whatever wacked out architect dream Megalopolis was?"
Most gay comment I've read today
Or what Megaflopolis should've been like. $120 million down the drain for something that doesn't even measure up to the Room.
This looks EPIC. Cannot wait to experience it on the big screen.
Cinema. Pure and simple. Thank God.
I'm a simple man...
*I see Adrian Brody, I see A24*
*I Click*
Is it finally time for Brody to make his big comeback? The man is easily one of the top 3 actors of this generation.
He's definitely getting an Oscar for this as much as I'm rooting for Timmy Chalamet I think this is going to Brody and well deserved
Yo, this is the best and unique trailer cut I've seen.
Guy Pearce? Count me in!
Adrien Brody in a time piece? Sign me up💪🏾🔥
The upside down Statue of Liberty is such a sick fucking shot.
Most Underrated Actors
#1: Guy Pearce
This looks incredible, definitely one for the big screen!
Looks boring as shit
It will be so nice to see Brody and Jones return to the Oscars after so long 😮
This is not a trailer, this is a work of ART.
Why? are you saying this out of ideology? Brutalist is a fasciist pr communist art style embraced by open that can't see beauty or don't believe it exists. The type is basic swiss design..w e've seen int millions of times before. We see a lot of clips...okay... are you faking it?
Is there some sort of ideological reason you love it?
people raving about it is weird.
Everyone all the way down are raving for generic brutalist art?
Huh?
Is this mass brainwashing of some sort?
literally
💩
I mean if I had some information about the movie like if I knew a single bit of what the movie was about I would agree but this literally gives you nothing.... What a couple random clips from a movie and they don't say anything the don't describe anything!!!!! That is exactly what you want huh?
If someone told me that this was the movie Coppola shot using his own money and initiative, I'd believe him
0:04 RollerCoaster Tycoon guest puking
Looooool!!!
I feel like this is what "Megalopolis" wanted to be, and failed.
Probably my most anticipated film to see for the rest of the year
Perfect trailer, styly font intro, then just enough information to leave you wanting more, A24 you've hooked me
This feels like a unofficial sequel to "The Pianist"
I watched this trailer 12 times in a row
Another best actor academy award nomination coming for sure! ❤❤
Great trailer, phenomenal. Doesn’t feel like I’ve just watched 3/4 of the story and heard every important line. And my wife just told me the movie will have an intermission! Amazing. Please bring them back
15 mins of intermission
A one minute trailer for a 3 1/2 movie is diabolical
Lmaoooo
this is one of the most nonsensical comments I've ever read. and I've seen some nonsense
Do you need more to want to see the movie?
At the same time, it gives you a glorious glympse of what it promises!
I’m sure the movie is longer than three and a half minutes
epic trailers need multiple rewatches
I just came from the AMC …he’s brilliant . Long movie, but excellent 👏👏👏
The trailer format is BRUTALLY AWESOME! astonishingly creative
'astonishingly creative'
Hipsters are insufferable
@Ebmjoker21 Idk, I find people that complain about other people's word choice even more insufferable
0:50 They had Fortnite dances back then?…
A24 saw what Neon was doing with their trailers and were like "hold my beer"
WOW, what a cast!
Really miss seeing Brady Corbet in front of the camera, but looks like he doing just find behind it. Excited for this!
I’ll watch anything with Adrian Brody featuring any word with the suffix “IST”.
The Academy needs to add the category: Best Trailer.
