Thank you so much! I discovered you recently, and I am learning so much from your videos. This one makes me long for my childhood wanderings on the coast of Maine not far from this very spot. Such raw, pure beauty, who could not be inspired to paint such a place?🙂
Hi, user-cv8yw3qq5m! We are so happy that you enjoyed it! Thank you very much for watching and for writing to us! We loved hearing from you and good luck with your painting! All the best, Connie and David
It is just so beautifull - radiating aliveness, movements of light and dark and the rhytms of a spontaneity and the eternal flow of the embrace of Earth and Sky 💙🧡🩶
Thank you, lisengel2498 - We really appreciate the wonderful comments. We are so happy to share Winslow Homer's inspiration - it was so exciting to be on Prouts Neck Island and see his home and studio - and the rocks! Kind regards, David and Connie
Dear iMakeThat - Thank you agin for watching and writing to us! We are happy that you enjoyed the program. It is always inspiring to visit artists' studios and where they painted. Amazing! Kind regards, David and Connie
You are awesome David. I just love the way you capture the essence of an artist. Your giant brushes and your sweeping strokes. You wipe away paint which is just as important as the paint you lay down. You are very inspiring. Thank you for these videos. I always look forward to them.
Beautiful painting. You have a great grasp of Homer. Magnificent use of house painters' brushes. Great undwrstanding of water. And not to shabby on Homer's bio. Thank you.
Thank you, Christian - Thank you for watching - we appreciate it! We loved visiting HOmer's Prouts Neck - thrilling to see where he painted so many powerful paintings! Kind regards, David and Connie
This is one of the best plain-air demos I've ever seen, and I own some good CD's of great artists. It really opened my eyes to how a long wide brush could be used to describe linear elements like waves and rock in addition to describing appropriate perspective. The history lesson us also excellent for the non academic like me.
HI, Again bryancoombesart - Thank you for such generous and positive comments - it is very meaningful to us! We are really happy that you enjoyed it! Kind regards, David and Connie
It’s a good thing @DavidDunlopSimmonsArt is a nice honest man because he can literally paint in any style as an art forger! But his own work is fantastic too so no need!😮❤

This wonderful. I love contrast of light in paintings. It is the light that moves me. So often I see professional demonstrations on RUclips and sometimes the painting was better before some of the details were added. Homer is one of my favorites.
Hello again, Leah! Thank you so much. We loved visiting Prouts Neck - it was magical. We are thrilled that you enjoyed it and that you wrote to us. Kind regards, David and Connie
I was looking online for tips on learning about homers paintings, and how to understand the art form more for a school project, and i found you! I am very thankful for the easy to learn lesson. I now find it very pleasing, and less stressful to do- and i can’t wait to start my project. Thank you! Your art looks incredible
Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to write - I appreciate it! Good luck with your project - I hope that it brings you joy instead of stress! Kind regards, David and Connie
Happy to see this one. Saw on PBS a while back. You explain things so well. Some of it over my head, but that's fine. I get it. Looking forward to the next one, David (:
Вы великолепный рассказчик, Учитель, и бесспорный Талант... Хотя я почти не знаю английского языка, но понимаю Вас отлично... Спасибо Вам, здоровья, берегите себя, Маэстро.. 🙏
Hi David. You mentioned you prepared the watercolor paper so that it would resist the paint and you can manipulate it. What are you treating the paper with? I imagine an acrylic medium of some sort? Do you worry this prevents the watercolor from adhering properly? Great videos and thank you,
