Man toca and gran tourismo were such awesome racing simulator sadly toca didn’t last long from the PS1 era and not made it to the ps2, such a blast from the past but happy they brought in grid and dirt to continue on!! Awesome video affro show!!!
Actually Toca did make it to the PS2 xD It was called Toca Race Driver 1, 2 & 3 xD I do agree these games were great & I'm glad you enjoyed my lookback at this particular game :)
@@TheAffroShowGameplay and it continues till this day being GRID. They just remove the word "TOCA" Since it no longer includes that British competition.
This does indeed look severely underrated. Codemasters must have put in the extra hours to make it so good. Obviously, you said all the reasons why for me though. I will add that this game deserves a sexy handbrake turn of an award 🚗🙌🏆
I heard one of reasons we don't get good car damage in racing games even now is a lot of car manufacturers don't allow to show their cars in damaged state. Kinda like Ferrari was cut from NFS Hot Pursuit and later's police chases. Brand rap.
@@TheAffroShowGameplay yeah the makers don't like to see their cars get damaged or be featured in police chases. It's hard to get them to agree to either but sometimes it happens. That's why we don't really see licensed cars in games like Carmageddon, Destruction Derby or Flatout.
Yes, in Europe, especially here in the UK, this game was very popular & got the Platinum status so it is really good :) It's a shame it wasn't more popular in the US but, it is still worthwhile!
How did you find this Jared and Labonte thing, that is a curiosity indeed. What a move to slap on some Nascar drivers in a Touring Car game. This was regarded as one of the best races on the PSX and i can see why, the damage model is impressive and having 13 opponents is nice too. But in the end GT 1 and 2 were just pure perfection. Its kinda like the hottest girl from the school vs a porn star.
I have got another curiosity : The release of MK2 (JPN) after MK3. A PS1 port of a game thats worse then on the Sega 32X. (But still a good game obviously).
I just stumbled apon it when I was looking to emulate Toca World Touring Cars xD It was a weird choice from Codemasters to do that :p I love Gran Turismo more myself but, this game is most of what I love in a realistic/flat out fun game! Both are my favorites for very different reasons :)
Bro, no one wants a porn star. Neither of these games will give you the gaming equivalent of an STD and PTSD. How about the hottest girl in school and the coolest girl from school who happens to be hot as well? Lol
Jarrett & Labonte's is higher (30fps vs 25fps) but, both games stutter so you will rarely see full proformance:) I prefer Jarrett & Labonte just purely for it's in game soundtrack but otherwise there's no reason to get it if you already have WTC :)
@@TheAffroShowGameplay Thanks for the quick reply. I'll stick with WTC. I don't like the way they "Americanized" this game and Colin McRae 2.0. I think the US version of the first Colin McRae is worth it though for the 60fps cheat mode.
After watching this review a couple of days ago Ive decided to play this game. And you're right sir this is a very good game! I just want to ask if this game and "Toca 2 Touring Cars" are the same game. I mean just different game name. If these are the same game are there any difference? Thankyou very sir much sir.
They are similar but this game is far better & more refined than the second game so this is the best of the three games on PlayStation by a far distance:)
I still find it funny that the Colin Mcrae rally game was both made by Codemasters AND released in the same year, yet when you compare the two game's graphics you can see Colin Mcrae look like absolute dog snot to the point that the REALWORLD sponsors are an illegible blob on the cars. Then you have J&L Racing that has fake sponsors and look great from the cars to the environment, I play it on Duckstation so I can see how well everything looks with 1080p and geometry correction enabled (fixes the distinct wobble textures and models you see on a real PS1)
I have a video which I do use Duckstation for this game & I agree, the game looks incredible but this was on a PSP 2000 so real hardware will look slightly sharper than this :) Colin McRae Rally 2 looks close to this but yeah, this game does look better which is impressive for the year 2000 :)
Just gotta say. The NA name was shit. No wonder why nobody played it in the US. What was codemaster thinking? The fame of the franchise was bigger than the name of those two Nascar drivers. And the game had a ton of content other than just "stock car racing".
It was very interesting to wonder why they tried this stunt for the American market but, ironically this is my favourite version of the game just because it has a soundtrack in game xD Still regardless of the nane, this is one of my favourite childhood games ever!
@@TheAffroShowGameplay The stunt is even worse than you think. Nobody in the US knew who either of those jokers were either. They just happened to be the sons of two old retired NASCAR drivers who actually WERE famous.
I hope you folks enjoy this underrated gem!
Let me know what you think of the PSP video output for PS1 games!

Toca race driver 3 on ps2/xbox is arguably the greatest racing game ever made
@@TheAffroShowGameplay and it continues till this day being GRID. They just remove the word "TOCA" Since it no longer includes that British competition.
Oh I know, the first GRID game says "Race Driver" but it's not the same, still a lot of fun mind you :)

is there a way to reset all stats in ps1 PAL version?
