- The original "Rifleman of PBA legend Adriano "Jun" Papa Jr., he is one of the deadliest shooters of all-time. He passed away 27th of October 2005 at the age of 60.
Papa played in the PBA from 1975 to 1980 averaging 17.5 points over 200 games for Mariwasa, Filmanbank and Great Taste. He made the 1977 Mythical Five.
As an amateur, the 5'11" Papa was a regular on the national team and played in the 1968 Mexico and 1972 Munich Olympics. He is a product of the National University.

When I was 11yrs old in Caloocan City 1972, I played basketball in the streets with my friends pretending I was Jun Papa. He had a unique side-jump-shot that I copied. Papa, Bogs Adornado and Atoy Co were my favorite players . This was before PBA. Its was called MICAA then. I moved to the U.S. and lost touch with the players. RIP Jun Papa.
Thank you for this. I’ve never see so many pictures of my grandfather back in his playing days. Most of his memorabilia were lost in a fire when I was still a baby. I played basketball with him most Saturday mornings growing up. If you have any more photos or videos of him, I would love to see them. Hoping to hear from you soon and thanks again.

Adriano Jun Papa is my first ever favorite player from Crispa, I become Crispanatic because of him, glad to see this video👍
No one equalled Jun Papa's outside shots, he holds that distinction and monicker " the Rifleman" RIP idol.
Thank you for remembering my cousin kuya Jun - the "Ace Rifleman". He was my mentor in playing basketball.

I remember Papa's Mariwasa teammate Cisco Oliver eto yung pag tumira sa free throw line iisang kamay lang ginagamit nya astig din tong import na to. Sikat din to sa TV commercial ng Alaska milk. And I agree ... Papa would have been the 3-point GOAT had the 3 pt. line been introduced during his heyday.

di ko inabot si sir adriano papa sr. pero si adriano papa jr anak nya nakasama ko sa phcr NCAA and he was the best teammate i ever had in my playing days sa NCAA and UAAP...not only the best teammate but also my classmate and good friend after phcr i transfered to adamson and after that i moved back to the states and eventually never saw adi again..rip to his dad and hopefully one day me and adi jr. will see each other again..kundi dahil sayo tol di ako nalashoot over johndel cardel ng JRC with only 15sec left on the clock assist mo tol..lol miss u idol hahaha

wala pang 3 pt. line noon pala pero doon na siya tumitira. kaya pala sabi ng mga nakapanood sa kanya noon, putragis kahit napakalayo tumitira at pumapasok pa- yun na pala yung 3 pt shot line na.
Siya lang po ang hinangaan ko pag-ang pauusapan ay long distance shooting, ilang beses kona pinanood dati sa Rizal Mamorial Coliceum 1970's nuon, kasama ko tatay ko at kapatid ko, at alam nila na siya lang paborito ko. Ngayon kolang nalaman na 2005 pa siya namatay. Hanggang ngayon ay naibibida kopa siya pag usapang basketball at ipinapasok ko yung classic. napakagaling talaga ni JUN PAPA 10

I'm one of Jun Papa fanatic...i remember mas magaling sya noon.sa MICAA kesa when he was already in PBA.. Parang support lang si Danny Florencio sa kanya coz Si Jun Papa talaga main scorer ng Cruspa noon.

Bata pa ko elementary ako ng napapanood ko na si Jun Papa. Mas magaling sya kung kay Allan Caidic lang kya lang wala ng 3 points shot noon pero pagtumira si papa mas malayo pa sa 3point line silang dalawa ni jimmy mariano noong araw. Napaka shooter ni papa sa set shot yun ang style nya. Sya no.1 kong choice then jimmy mariano dahil pagtumira sila halos malapit na sa outside line paa nila.

Kung mayroon na 3 point line nuong araw, he was the king of 3 point shot easily. Bogs, Atoy and Freddy has a looping shot but Jun has flat or matulis kaya parang rifle shot.

Si caidic pala ay suppose to be hindi rifle man ang tawag kundi mortar man kasi looping ang pagtira niya. Si Papa daahil flat o halos flat ang trajectory ng bola niya ay pang-rifle talaga.

At 6"4 tulad rin ni Jun papa a few steps paglampas PA Lang NG midcourt tumitira na Yan. Gamay nya ganun kalayo. 3. Bogs adornado - walang malas na araw. Walang off night. Consistent. Hinde bumababa NG 20 pts pagnaglaro kahit na anong klaseng depensa ang itapat sa kanya. 4. Samboy lim- penetrating o outside shooting maaasahan. 5.
