  • Correct and adequate sprue placement improves the chances of a CAD design being successfully casting.
Adding a feeder sprue to shanks and ring band in your CAD software is simple and quick task to improve castability.
When creating the sprue component, generally the best location is at the base of the shank to allow the metal to flow from where the most material is, out to the smaller aspects of the model.
Also making the sprue wider at the junction of the sprue and model also allows for more successful metal flow.
These methods help to reduce the likelihood of investment relocation and the risk of porosity forming.
