Shep as a great story teller. I listened at night with headphones so my parents thought I was asleep. After Jean came Long John Nebel, as I recall, with guys who claimed to have been to Mars and other neat stuff. Neat, if you're 14 anyway,
Oh, man, thanks for posting! I used to listen to Jean on my transistor under the covers on school nights. Aside from making forts in the woods and reading in my room, Jean Shephard was the epicenter of my childhood. Wanda Hicky's Night of Golden Memories still informs my storytelling. :)
I wish OH I PRAY some how ome way we can get BACK to those days where Mommies were mommies and Dads were dads.. and GOD was always watching over you... and kids payed outside a milkman came in the morning and an ice cream truck came through everyday after school and all you needd was a dime for a fudgecicle .... sighs... I only had those days until 4 th grade ..then the world got so crazy and i felt it ...I LOVE GENES stories they are BEAUTIFUL if you are Generation Z you will listen to this and want it like my son...
I listen to Shep.in South Jersey from 1963 to 1973 what stories!
I never heard his stories before, just those used in Christmas Story. I loved every minute of it.
Jean Shepherd is a national treasure akin to mark twain.

His short stories were excellent. They were everywhere, too. I read one in TV Guide.

Thought I’d heard ever story back in the day - but not this one! Got me laughing out loud! Thanks!
Jean is the all time master of story telling
I'd put this one in the top 20 of his. Maybe, even.
