I had completed all the trials from EX alpha and EX2 in early 2000`s. Still have the ps1, the game and the saves in memory card today. Love this franchise.
It's really good to see you do these trials AND EX Plus Alpha trials as well! It's always nice to see people giving this game some love. Smug, are you planning on doing the Maniac Trials as well? If you were to prepare and do them in a video, you'd be the first one to do so in RUclips/Twitch history. It'll be the same with EX3, save for one person that did it with no commentary (and it's spliced), it'd be amazing to see you tackle either of those challenges.
Even though the visuals are super dated, this game doesn't get enough credit for how good the animations are. The EX series had to crawl so Street Fighter 4, 5, and 6 could walk lol.

Gives me such a nostalgic rush I know I aint getting back. I always felt the fighters from 98-01 really amped up the presentation on newer hardware and really amped up the hype level in gameplay by this point in time. I really did feel like this was really pushing in the era catering more into rushdown big combo play vs footsie turtle play A good example for me being StreetFighter Alpha 2 neutral style into the more aggressive guard break StreetFighter Alpha 3 with Isms
So, Hayate is kinda weird. He was introduced in vanilla EX2, but was bizarrely removed from the arcade version of EX2 Plus. Plus is what introduced Meteor Combos, so Hayate's supers were copied over to Garuda as his Meteor. The PS1 port brought him back (with the new Orochi Fujin Meteor), which is why he's the final unlockable in the game. He's also the only EX2 character to not return in EX3. Also, the "different version of Skullo Dream" is actually the original Skullo Dream from EX1. It's an unlisted move, and its command is HK, HK, ←, HP, LK. Additionally, by holding ↓+LP+MK before the move connects (and throughout), you'll get an alternate attack sequence (you'll know you did it right if it ends with an Ultra Beam, which even has a unique KO animation).
33:10 that wasn't even all of it either. The entire combo kills, the final part needs you to charge up, down, up + P/K 49:20 you can get more hits by mashing like a shoryureppa

The thing is that SF EX isn't a Capcom made game but an Arika game, and those ideas from SF EX are not taken for the actual SF games. Just like Snk also had some nice interesting new ideas for SF moves in SVC, that are ignored by Capcom. The SF staff steal others ideas (actually since the 90s) but for some reason they don't steal good ideas that other companies invented for the SF chars. I never understood this logic but it really exists in the SF staff.
I remember tolding you guys (to Justin wong, punk, etc) that before we didnt have any posted video so we could see how to do a specific combo. RUclips didnt exist Imagine how painful it was...
