When I was a kid we’d spend the weekend with our grandparents. I used to love when a new Taste of Home would be on the coffee table! 11 years-ish old and for years after that I enjoyed those magazines. And when I’d find something that looked good my Grandma would make it for me or sometimes we’d do it together!
What wonderful n thoughtful gifts. I love looking thru magazines n cookbooks. Wow, Kevin! Awesome job putting you Lego together….you have a talent ….love this and your metal arts etc. Looking forward to your review on your dad’s gift. Lol! Tami you had me loving w cutting the gnomes heads off 😂 Thanks for sharing with us. I totally enjoyed it. I still remember both your excitement with the Hamilton tickets….. Enjoy.
I received Hamilton tickets for my birthday and bought my Dad a lego set for Christmas for the first time as I thought he’d enjoy it! My Mom loves old recipe books and magazines like you. They are harder to find now though. A used bookstore here said that, since the pandemic where supplies were harder to find, coupled with rising food prices, more people are searching for those old books that used, primarily, ingredients that could more easily be found locally.
If ya go back and watch Tami and Kevin’s past Christmas videos I think they’re gifts for their kids and grandkids are really thoughtful! They make it easier for them to save $$ through the year, if that makes sense? ☺️
@@heather81280 definitely. She shops the way I do. When I find a good deal for something I know a loved one would appreciate I grab it and save it. And the things they buy like cleaners and paper products may seem weird to some but I think it is so caring and loving to take that financial burden off of someone and help with things you know they’ll need
I used to love the Taste of Home magazines. Great recipes from real people and great articles!! I have a bunch of them from the late 1990's - late 2000's somewhere in my storage unit. LOL!
Loved your Christmas gifts. My mom had a subscription to Southern Living for years. It has to be fun going through those old magazines and see what was popular and how much things have changed.
Love Taste of Home! My Mom and Grandma still enjoy it. It's funny you mentioned the kitchens --- we would always laugh at how hideous some of them were. 😂
Tami, we have tons in common! I collect cookbooks. My Momma used to give me all of her old magazines; I wish I'd kept them all. Southern Living and Taste of Home are great!
Too funny Kevin wanted legos! We started a Lego winter village this year (we’d never built with legos but now are hooked!!! 😂🙈). When I walked by the display today I wondered if Kevin enjoys legos!! Too funny! Eager to hear his thoughts and if he decides to get more, what sets he gets! The Elf Clubhouse is a favorite of ours (waffles flip on to the stove from the chimney and there’s a clock you can turn that knocks the elves out of bed!). If Kevin likes MOCs or Lego clones (or Lego sets without the word Lego on the brick for much less $$$), AliExpress has had a bunch recently. We are waiting for our most recent purchase, a Fisherman’s store, to be delivered. What thoughtful gifts you received and gave! So appreciate your taking the time to put these gift videos together
I hope you all had a magical Christmas and enjoyed every moment! I relate so much to Kevin with the lego though, I'm an only child and honestly it wouldn't be Christmas if I didn't get some kind of lego. This year I had a Harry potter lego advent calendar which and at the end, all the pieces make up a board game of the tri-wizard tournament it's super cool. But last year I got hagrids hut which I'm sure Kevin would love to build too - there's tons of stuff out there :)
For old magazines, I wonder if you could get / buy some from a local library. Many libraries used to have physical copies of magazines but have most likely switched to digital issues. Would be cool if you could get your hands on those old copies if they don’t need them anymore.
I’d love to see a “random number generator” picks my recipe series. Put the number of books into the system…let it select your book. Then the number of pages into the system and let it pick your page. Imagine what fun recipe it might select 😂. Hopefully it involves a jello mold! Those magazines are such a fun gift. I love cookbooks and food magazines.
I also collect old magazines but only the Christmas editions and as far back as 1934. My step mother has the Mary Margaret McBride cookbook. I've cooked tons of recipes from that book and I was never disappointed. I've asked her if I could have it but even though she doesn't use it, she has refused. My sister and I cleaned out lots of attics in the past and often found many old cookbooks. The Lego set looks like fun. My son moved away to Australia and left me with tons of his Lego collections.
Cool, I like the magizines and cook books. I have read Southern living since 1982. I live in the south. Neat Lego set, too. My sister Kristine enjoys building Lego sets . 🥰

That’s interesting that more people are searching for old recipes! I hope your dad enjoys his Lego set!
Love, love, love this. Thanks for sharing. I've missed these.
Glad you like them!
I’ve never built a Lego set but I’ve always wanted to. They have such amazing looking sets.
They do. Finding where to store them is an issue for a lot of people.
Love this! Such fun and thoughtful gifts from your kids and dad.
Thanks so much :)
The best part of these gifts is they are all really thoughtful. I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season

I appreciate that!
I thought, someone will see Ashley open Tide Pods in the vlog and think I’ve lost my mind! 🤣
Beautiful pics of you guys and your daughter. Those were some really nice and thoughtful gifts. Tfs.
Thanks so much 😃

Absolutely love that Lego set! I would not have the patience for that lol. Thank you for sharing. Loved the video :)
I really don’t think I could build one.

Yes! Some are terrible 😄

That Elf Clubhouse sounds awesome. I'm going to look at pictures!
Terrific gifts you guys got! I am with Kevin, I got a Lego Architecture set (Taj Mahal) & a Racer.... Nerds Unite!!!
They have gotten so creative with their sets.
Great gifts and thanks for sharing.

I know our library has book sales. They may sell them then. I’ll have to go when they have another one. Thank you for the idea!
It would be really cool to get old home Ed cookbooks from local schools
I honestly don’t remember having a book although I’m sure we would have.
I love looking at recipes that I don’t even have any interest in making
This was fun to watch !
Very nice and thoughtful gifts .
Yes it was! Thank you 😊

A jello mold 😂🤣🤣🤣
Loved the gifts guys! The castle was neat
Thank you 😊
I enjoyed watching the live stream on Twitch when he was working on the Lego set, great conversation!
We appreciate you being there, Scott!
I enjoyed seeing everything! My 12 year old cousin saw Hamilton as a gift as well. She's just as obsessed!
I would absolutely go again.
