The fact is that it was only close in terms of outright numbers. Our political system is representative. Had this national vote been held regionaly as a national election is, then almost 70% of regions would have been in favour of leaving. It would have been an absolute landslide.
Yup, same here in the US. Clinton supporters were furious Trump won with 3 million votes less. Yet if she had won in that manner, they would have lectured people on the Electoral Vote, and how it was designed to prevent populism.
First of all most people are stupid so giving people the change to decide on such a dangerous and important decision is actually a problem on its self and then only 52% wanted to get out and we know quite a bit of those people regret that now. People also just voted a protest vote which ...... that is how referendums work and its not good. People don't really think that well about what consequences this can have.
I know! How deluded can you possibly get?! Bet she wouldn’t be saying that if the shoe had been on the other foot. Bet it would all have been perfectly legit if it had gone her way. 🤣
Only 52% voted to get out which is only 2 % more which I do understand if its about such a big thing, it should actually be at least 60%. Also that being said, most people are stupid so .....
No one would be saying what that first lady said if the vote had been to remain. Oh, you can't call it a referendum because we only won by 4%. Its so pathetic.
Well its because most people in the country are stupid and they were allowed to vote foe something they didn't even understand what the consequences would have been. Most people now regret it anyway. THis shows how badly people were informed. This is why referendums should not be allowed if you decide its enough when its 52% to get out. It should have been more then that around 65% if you necessarily want a referendum. This is one of the worst mistakes.

The economic situation is not good at all, people aren't happier and immigration is still just as much happening. You have nothing to say. If UK wants to trade they still have to follow the rules.

To the lady who said “it was so close you cant call it a referendum because the difference was only 1.3 million” I would bet everything I have if the difference was 1.3 million in favour of remaining she would be more than happy to accept the results and accept it as a legitimate referendum and would be screaming from the roof tops that it is undemocratic etc if leave voters were using the same logic she employed.
They didn't like the result so they were going to say it was too close one point three million more voted leave u should respect democracy if the remainder had won by that amount they say the result had to be respected and the leave campaigns were be bad loset

White working class Londoners by-and-large voted leave. Middle-class Londoners voted remain, as did most of London's immigrant population. 30-40 years ago London may possibly have been in favour of leave, but the rapid change in demographics over the past few decades has changed London almost out of recognition.
I disagree. A vast majority of young people, of all backgrounds, backed remain. 30 years ago, which was also when I first visited London as a youngster, a majority of the young back then too would have chosen remain if given the choice. As always, it's the older people that ruin the views and futures of the young.
How have their futures been ruined by the UK leaving the EU? If you are talking about freedom of movement then you are wrong. You can still visit Europe, yes it may mean filling out a few more forms of paper and waiting a little longer but the EU as a destination is not closed off. Also you have to quite entitled to believe you have the right to waltz into someone’s country without any background checks. It means much much much more if you EARN the right to go there. Something we should be teaching our youngsters. The end of freedom of movement is a blessing.
I would also add that people who have lived with and without the EU (older people) voted to leave. That adds additional evidence that the right decision was taken.
Well 52% of the people decided the whole fate of the nation. Yes its actually not enough. Thats why I am against referendum for such a important decision where people do not have an understanding what the consequences might be. Which we see now people regret their decisions because things didn't get better and only became worse.

Looking back this video in 2021, it occurs to me that many people were confused not having any understandings about what would probably happen after Brexit. There have been four years of negotiations for a proper deal which can largely fulfills the expectations of both sides. Unfortunately, people seemed to be so "ecstatic" to leaving EU because they finally regained "freedom". The another question is for David Cameron. What was the point of being reckless having a referendum in 2016? The repercussion of having this is that people have tragically suffered from the contradiction as far as politics is concerned.
I'd be interested to see if people, whether they voted Remain or Leave, have had a rethink and possibly even a change of heart.
