Best cover of this song on you tube man. But that’s not Hill Country blues it’s Cotton Patch Blues. Even though it’s from the same area it’s completely different.
William Johnson Hill country sound would be: RL Burnside , Robert Belfour, Charles Caldwell, Belton Sutherland, Fred McDowell. I’m friends with Robert Kimbrough Sr and he doesn’t like to hear people refer to his dads music as Hill Country because it is really very different style of playing and even Jr himself when being interviewed referred to his style of playing as cotton patch blues. One of the most unique things about his style is a lot of his songs are Major pentatonic such as ( Meet Me In The City ) very few blues artist do that and his Minor Blues has more of a soul feel to it. Simply put the man was a genius and his head stone sums it up. JUNIOR KIMBROUGH IS THE BEGINNING AND THE END OF ALL MUSIC
It is an Epiphone Wildkat. Reasonably priced, and a pretty cool semi hollow body with P-90 pickups. It does produce quite a bit of feedback if you use distortion though.
I dig the backstory of the music in the beginning!
Thanks!
Cotton Bluez It’s Sometimes Called!
Yes, someone else told me it's called cotton patch blues, not hill country blues.
Very nice man. I love this style of blues.
That history behind the music intro was very cool
Thanks!
I clicked this because I have the same wildkat. Seriously underrated guitar. And then stayed for some Junior!
Well hell. Mine doesn't have gold like yours. Darn that's cooler lol
Thanks. I love that guitar
Bluesman headed to north Mississippi because of heavy rain and flooding in the lower delta.

Interesting. I've always heard it referred to as hill country along with RL Burnside. So what would hill country blues be, like Fred McDowell?

Nope, standard tuning.
And what kinda guitar is that?

What amp are you running? Any pedals?
It's just a cheap newer model peavey amp. No pedals, but I've got some reverb on.
William Johnson tube or solid state peavey? Wattage?
It's a peavey viper, 100 watt amp. Solid state. It's my cheap portable amp. It has a decent sound for less than $200
