  • This is a talk given by Scott Cameron at Type High Design as part of the Lettepress in the Time of Covid event held at the St Bride Library online via Zoom on 12 July 2021.
Scott Cameron started making new letterpress wood type during the UK’s first lockdown. After dedicating the past 12 months to perfecting the process, he has started fulfilling orders of full founts, ornaments and custom orders. His first commission was for Erik Spiekermann for the typeface he designed, Hamilton Artz, originally created for pantograph operators at Hamilton Wood Type Museum.
Scott was first introduced to letterpress and wood type as a student at his university workshops. When they closed during lockdown, he invested in an antique Farley press and started to research how to make new wood type. He wanted to make his own custom designs to submit as university projects. Collaborating with talented typeface designers, he has been able to bring modern typefaces to the letterpress market. During the process of making new wood type, I developed a passion for perfecting the craft - watch your back, DeLittle!
