There are different ways to get gold but it is meant to slow you down, thats why they have offers like 6$ for 4M gold. But just beside that one, you can get gold for gems once per day. There arent much more secrets, sometimes there's gold in the city market but youre gonna have to be patient for either good caracters or gold either way

The "Non Premium" fighters are called "Super" or "Food"

No you dont get faction buff but it helps fighting the reverse faction for the bonus damage
