You guys did a fantastic job with the engine the world of DAI looks absolutely gorgeous and the characters and environments make me as player feel so much more related to this in game world great job guys!
Most of the features that were mentioned were all found in the Hinterlands. I feel they put too much focus on the Hinterlands making other locations pale in comparison.
Ramen Noodles Indeed. There's an imbalance of things in DAI. I can only hope that they're 'generous' enough to patch in more stuff in other zones, and add DLC that both adds more interesting areas and maybe includes new ways to experience existing ones.
I agree, when I started the Hinterlands was amazing, it was huge, it had a lot of content, it was just perfect, but most other places just felt boring.
Josh Kappa On the contrary, Hinterlands got stale after a while, Emerald Graves, Farrow Mire, Western Approach, Crestwood and Exalted Plains had much better content.
Youssef Ali It did get stale, but better content like what? The only thing Hinterlands didn't have that some of those areas you mentioned had was a stronghold.
They dropped the ball a bit with Val Royeaux - a place we've been hearing about since the first game. Do we get to explore it in any way? No. We get a small marketplace and a couple of instanced missions. Just rubbish. I'm not saying the area needed to be as big as Kirkwall, but it's the capital of Orlais, an important location in the lore, you SHOULD get to see more of it than the bloody market with minimal things to do/NPC interactions, at least enough to give you a FEEL for the place.
ohthepeppers I'm willing to wait and see if they have plans for a Val Royeaux DLC. Yes, it sucks in the main game (a cool area that we barely see), and paying for DLC for areas we want in the main game sucks, but I'd be potentially willing to pay $15 for many hours of extensive Val Royeaux exploration and events (including Sandal!), or at least $10 for a good experience that I feel adds enough to the game.
Bioware did the exact same thing to the Citadel in Mass Effect after ME1 (though if I recall correctly ME3 included a bit more and there was DLC that I didn't buy, but it still wasn't as big in ME3 as ME1).
sev00177 I was fine with a more minimal Citadel in ME2 because I wanted to move past the place. ME3 did return back to the Citadel focus but in a different way. I'd say that ME3+DLC Citadel was bigger, or at least more involved than ME1 Citadel. And also more interesting. I don't consider it quite a Val Royeaux situation since ME3 Citadel was quite a lot of content even before the DLC, while Val Royeaux was just a couple short visits.
I REALLY wanted to Visit the white spire in val royeux aswell but we never got to, I also really was looking forward to meeting Rhys and evangeline from asunder since Cole is actually s party member I felt like it would've made sense for his personal character arch to have a resolution with those chactacers but it never happened such a missed opportunity along with many others missed with dragon age ,
The world is really beautifull designed and all looks unique to me. what i miss is a wheater System and dynamic day/night Change. but thats is "luxury";) but the different parts should be more essential to Story and with bigger quests! Btw, thanks for this game^.^
I a agree with the comments about story dlcs. Towards the end of the game it seems as though they ran out of quest for the environments. Why so much effort into the hinterlands and leave so much empty plot for the rest of the game. They skimped on companion interactions. Three quarters through the game I felt everyone just up and went home except for me. I hate it when companions repeat a response as an indiction that there is no more conversion to be had. A better system should be invented. I loved mass effect 3 where before a mission you got to chat about up coming missions you were going on on the shuttle. We could have had something like that when we set up camp. Talking only to scout Harding wasnt sati sing enough. About the dlcs the environments are there start inserting some real stories into them. The sooner the better. The opportunity to invent a really big beautiful city is at biowares fingertips I hope as a bioware fan they don't miss the incredible opportunities at their fingertips. We as fans and supporters will miss out.
I enjoy the game and the graphics are impressive. I'm glad Bioware listens to the fans and incorporated elements from both DA: O and DA2. Been a fan of this series since it first came out! Ready for the DLC to Inquisition now.
Still loving DA:I. The story is great, I love the companions as well and the world (areas) are beautiful. There are, however, some things I would like to see changed (possibly in upcoming DLC?) Firstly, I think the amount of weapons/armor to craft is minimal especially since there are some schematics (2-4 I believe) that are completely unobtainable unless you're using a cheat engine. Also, since the qunari for instance can't wear some armor sets (Warden, Templar, Orlesian, Free Army etc.) I would have liked some race-specific armor sets. Also, I was quite dissapointed with the small size of Val Royeux, after hearing about it in the first two games I was really looking forward to exploring it, I'm not saying it should have been "Hinterlands-sized" but a marketplace, a balcony and an alleyway is just minimal. Thirdly, I think there should have been some extra options in the character creation such as head width, more hair options (especially for qunari, I know they have horns but they could have added some more hair styles anyway) and it would have been cool to change the height/muscularity of my character but I'm not sure if that would even be possible, probably extremely hard.) Also, some of the side quests were very...fetchy. So in short, for future DLC I'd like: More weapons and armor schematics, expansion of Val Royeux, extra character creation thingys and well, can't really change the side quests. I know this looks like a monumental rant, but it isn't :) I love DA:I and I think they did a lot of things magnificently, just voicing my opinion :D
Holy shit, its been nearly 3 months and I still have significant technical issues on my PC version of the game, having to play in Windowed Fullscreen mode in order to deal with FPS hitching, though now with the FPS hit in the process. I don't really understand the release of these videos so late - looks like more of a Nov-Dec sort of thing. At this point, I only care for patches to fix the game and potentially the first Single Player DLC. Maybe there's a few.. dozen.. players who care about the content of this video at this point.
How much did running in windowed mode improve your fps hitching cause I am having this problem now since patch 2 and its pissing me the f*ck off. Plus patch 4 introduced a fucking memory leak into the game. GG Bioware, GG.
Supadrumma441 Sometimes I'll be very lucky and the game will start without hitching, but most of the time it will. The windowed full screen mode mostly removed hitching, but it reduced the FPS overall. In general, I get the impression that the PC version, at least for my hardware (which is literally RIGHT on the Recommended Specs!), is badly optimized, and I'm disappointed. And I'm only playing on High.
what the fuck are these videos supposed to be good for? the game came out 3 months ago and you`re basically done with it after 50 hours. World looks pretty, but barely any quests, completely unsatisfying gear-upgrading system and half-assed multiplayer. arent videos like this usually uploaded before the game comes out for promotion purposes?
50 hours seems like a pretty long time, the only games I've spent more than 50 hours on are multiplayer games. EDIT: I just checked and turns out I spent more than 50 hours on Watch_Dogs, Civilization V, and Euro Truck Simulator 2. Still seems like a pretty good deal, I only spent around 30 hours on Mass Effect 2 and that's one of my favorite games.
Tucker Furlong I dont expect the same amount of quests like skyrim but the game feels extremely linear. of course you can go to any region (you unlocked) any time you want, but what for? I never found myself going back anywhere, because there most likely werent any quests, all the enemies have become very weak and dont give any exp and all the items are crap anyway. As soon as I killed the last boss, I never played on that character again, because I just didnt know what I do.
This video is to make other devs envious of their game of the year awards and possibly branding the frostbite 3 engine as a versatile competitor in the industry. Not for gamers
Atompinguin The only reason you go to areas is to get power to spend on the main missions, or to grind XP if you're underleveled. Once you "finish" the main story in an area I don't think you're supposed to want to go back there. This is often how RPGs work, you level up and past content becomes super easy. You can't expect every game to have unlimited play time, especially if, like most Bioware games, it's very story and character focused.
This is truly one of the (if not the) best games I've ever played. Bioware, I loved you before, and loved you even more now. You have a good thing going! Don't veer off the course like (in my opinion) you did with Mass Effect 3.
I'd go so far and tell the coupling of story and non-story areas a big fat lie. These two things are totally detached from each other and the player better needs to find a good balance, a mix between story and non-story stuff, on his own or he will get bored of the latter eventually. That's where these countless "offline mmo" accusations come from imho. I took to reddit, particularly a thread that was listing the level recommendations for the different areas and then thought about how to best mix story-maps with the other maps. I found a good balance. But by itself the game does not offer a concept to tie this together. The whole Inquisition business seems totally random and at the end you will sit on a couple of hundred power points, meant to do something during development, I'm sure, but in the end they gave up on it obviously. It still makes for a nice trailer though...like an early concept trailer, just you bring this now. Genious. :D
I'm glad i got 970 GTX to replace my ancient 7850 now! Game looks absolutely amazing. I just wish we could have tac cam that was promised. And whats up with 8 slot UI on pc...?
There's a whole bunch of content I really love the looks and the variety of the world's except when it came to the desserts it's all sand all rocks but some feel really empty
It was mentally exhausting trying to do everything in that area just due to the size of it. I couldn't do it in one sitting. It was also the only area that I felt a mount was a necessity.
None of the games you spend 200+ hours on the same character are very story based. I'll take a 40 hour amazing story arc with side quests thrown in vs a 200+ game that has little story to it but has a ton of things to do. Quality over Quantity is always the way to go imo
That was supposed to be Crestwood. Search for "Dragon Age: Inquisition - Live Demo Gameplay". On that video you can see a quest where you could save Crestwood village from templars or save your Keep, all of that was completely cut out from the game.
You can make all the beautiful worlds you want, but in the end it doesn't matter because they are all so empty and full of filler quests. Redcliffe village looks nothing like a proper medieval village. No children playing, no dogs running around, no LIFE. Just a bunch of people standing around like statues. Val Royeaux was probably the most disappointing place of them all. Instead of giving us a big city to explore (after all the wilderness in the other worlds), you gave us a mini boring market. The shards were probably the most annoying thing you could ever come up with and the astrariums' "dungeons" were such a joke with incredibly useless loot. I could go on really, but I won't because this game is full of disappointments.
Yeah they created some beautiful enviroments.. just to fill them with completely trivial, characterless, horrible fucking, impactless, mmo-ish, collect-this-much-of-this, hey-here-is-a-piece-of-paper-now-i-have-a-new-empty-quest quests. Massivly dropped the ball on what they could've done with those enviroments.
SharpWalkers Its a shame, because looking around these maps, its clear that they outright DESERVE better than what they got for gameplay. DAI was a half measure for quest design. My completionism will have me completing the 'full game' once, maybe a 2nd fast playthrough (non completionist) for alternate RP, then I'm back to playing Mass Effect games for the zillionth time.
I love Dragon Age, but what are these videos for? I mean the game came out 3 months ago, shouldn't this video have come out at a similar time. Again I love Dragon Age, but I just don't see the point of this vid
Niclas Lööf I'm not complaining, I'm just asking a question because I'm curious about the purpose of this video right now. Usually there is a window that you do things in when it comes to games. Announcing a game a year or so ahead of release, adverts for it months before release, gameplay videos a week or so before release (if you got early access), maybe a month or so before if you were invited to the studio or something, discussions and such weeks/months after it's out, but not a video 3 months after. It's unusual so I'm wondering what the reasoning is, that's all.
I paid good money for this game so I made sure I finished it at least once, but then I tried to go back & play it again with a different character but found myself not interested in playing anymore. Don't get me wrong I did enjoy the story the first time around because I'm a huge dragon age fan but it could have been better. Please use my money to build a better DA :)
Deam, why they keep silent about DLC? We need more missions. What with the Wardens? What with Morrigan? What with Civil War in Orlay and Briala's Eluvians? WHAT with Solas?! By the Dread Wolf, who cares how they made landscapes. Seriously.
I LOVE the game, but I hope y'all plan on doing something about the hair options in the character creator. The ones available now are imho the absolute worst I've seen in 30yrs. It's honestly my biggest gripe with DA:I.
can you PLEASE improve the xbox 360 version of the game in terms of texture popping and pixelated backgrounds, clothes, folliage, etc and let install the game disc as well to improve those huge loadings, that version its just a real mess.
Lets whine in the comments like someone actually cares. Like geez, i have 2 playthroughs with 200 hours in the first and 100 in the second and i had fun both times. And people complaining its 50 hours cause they burned through the main story ASAP should try out The Order 1887. Most games these days dont even last you 50 hours let alone 25. Most single player experiences last you 6-10 hours on average. MAYBE a little more if youre a completionist like me but judging from these comments everyone seems to just rush through and expect everything to have the action of call of duty, the cinematics from the order, the length of skyrim, and the replay ability of a mmo. Like jesus fuck. Dont buy the damn game then. Even the best games that come out never are good enough for people. I want to see all of you make game companies and all comes out with games better than this, that would be one miraculous day.
The regions are much more bigger indeed, but they become "empty" after I "finish" it. There is nothing left and no point for me to revisit it again except farming treasure chest or ingredient. Decisions you made show very little or even none impact to the region and story.
BradTheAmerican Sadly. There's a lot of wasted potential in these maps. I would have preferred 2-3 less regions as long as the ones that remained had more developed, interesting, cause-and-effect, etc elements to them. Open world elements are fun, but not when 1/2 the time you feel like you're just collecting the most inconsequential shit. That's a step back for the genre.
***** Not really. You can see the demos and see that the side quests are vastly superior to Inquisition's. The Witcher devs themselves said that Inquisition has too much filler quests. You can find the statement on the Internet if you dont believe me. Also, almost every reviewer Ive seen have said that the side quests ate really deep and interesting, not collect this 10 shards or kill 5 bunnies. They are also not mostly generic ones. Its like done in a different way, which I had hoped Inquisition would have done.
MUAHAHAHA FINALLY I'm not the only DIE HARD Dragon age fan that feels that way This game took the major focus off of story and focused it on the side shit tedium.
***** I did read a review from a swedish gaming site, they got to test to play the game for 3 hours. They said there is much more detail compared to skyrim/ DAI. And the side quests where alot more interesting than i DAI, where u need to go collect 10 stones/ kill 10 goats etc..
It's a shame you (bio ware) were concerned more about graphics than game play the game it's very good I really love it but fails compared to dragon ages origin the final battle sucks and it's extremely easy I really hope for a new difficulty setting for this game cause its too easy on nightmare
Hmmm...did this take 6 months to upload? Games been out for awile now this vid lags way behind...the point of subbing a Ytube channel it to get fresh breaking news not stale old shit...sub cancelled.
This game became a more triple A title and got a lot more funding. It's not fan servicey that much and briefly refers to past games. It's like ME3 at times. ME1-2 and DA:O-2 were not extremely funded an advertise like Inquisition and 3
We would be grateful if you decided to add a huge story DLC.
Why are these comments all so negative? Thanks for making a great game Bioware. I look forward to the next one.
You guys did a fantastic job with the engine the world of DAI looks absolutely gorgeous and the characters and environments make me as player feel so much more related to this in game world great job guys!

Malcolm Swoboda I liked the other zones a lot. Especially places like the Emerald Graves and the Farrow Mire.

Why does dragon age have to be so awesome

Now just imagine how much even better this game would have looked had this game been released only on next gen consoles.
How did the power of Frostbite 3 bring the world of Thedas to life?
Frostbite engine gave the game a persistent crashing problem that occurred during cutscenes.
Frostbite sucks since bad company 2.
it made me my qunari fem char look UUUGLY oh wait thats the devs that lacked the creativity and were too lazy to make that race better looking
The world is really beautifull designed and all looks unique to me. what i miss is a wheater System and dynamic day/night Change. but thats is "luxury";) but the different parts should be more essential to Story and with bigger quests!
Btw, thanks for this game^.^
Wow that was a stupid sentence Dragon Age. Because the simple answer is: "crashing" :S
I a agree with the comments about story dlcs. Towards the end of the game it seems as though they ran out of quest for the environments. Why all the videos about making the game. After the game's release
I'd go so far and tell the coupling of story and non-story areas a big fat lie. These two things are totally detached from each other and the player better needs to find a good balance, a mix between story and non-story stuff, on his own or he will get bored of the latter eventually.

Agreed.

I'm not complaining, I'm just asking a question because I'm curious about the purpose of this video right now. It's unusual so I'm wondering what the reasoning is, that's all.
let me guess : post sale marketing videos?? something went wrong Eaware?
Goddamn it. These videos keep making me think there's a new dlc or update.
why did they make this video the games been out for a min now if they post anything post some news on some DLC
The game is beautiful good job :)
You made huge maps and didn't put anything in them. It's like Skyrim with more filler and grinding.
Bigger =/= Better
MUAHAHAHA FINALLY I'm not the only DIE HARD Dragon age fan that feels that way
This game took the major focus off of story and focused it on the side shit tedium.
***** I did read a review from a swedish gaming site, they got to test to play the game for 3 hours. They said there is much more detail compared to skyrim/ DAI. And the side quests where alot more interesting than i DAI, where u need to go collect 10 stones/ kill 10 goats etc..
*****
Its not even open world.
she reminds me of Merril
ughhhh I need dlccccccc...ive been holding off playing too much on my main inquisitor so I don't beat it and can play the dlc
im so attached to companions in this game.. i hate my real life.
How ab create some new single player dlc ffs
It's a shame you (bio ware) were concerned more about graphics than game play the game it's very good I really love it but fails compared to dragon ages origin the final battle sucks and it's extremely easy I really hope for a new difficulty setting for this game cause its too easy on nightmare
Hmmm...did this take 6 months to upload? Games been out for awile now this vid lags way behind...the point of subbing a Ytube channel it to get fresh breaking news not stale old shit...sub cancelled.
Who. Fucking. Cares. The game is released.
Honestly I think Bioware can do much, much more, but well theres EA,and this company ruin anything that meant to be good.
This game became a more triple A title and got a lot more funding. It's not fan servicey that much and briefly refers to past games. It's like ME3 at times. ME1-2 and DA:O-2 were not extremely funded an advertise like Inquisition and 3
Nice enviroments but no intresting fleshed out quests and dungeons are put in them.
Unfortunately game feels much like mediocre mmorpg instead of hardcore rpg.
