The writers got this one right. An episode of them getting the cards in their hands. Another episode to summon. Then a back and forth episode where they beat the shit out of each other into a draw.
There's a subtle bit of detail that makes the final move amazingly insane. If you listen to the blue eyes' roar after diffusion's effect takes place, it sounds like its weakened.
I REMEMBERED TOO😂 I have all those great cards, 3 headed blue eyes, 5 body parts of mythical god, that yellow 10 stars dragon, all powerful cards 😂 Forgot to save them today, maybe ir cost thousands to sell for a collector😂

Yeah, the anime was weird with the cards. The god cards were kinda like the toons of their era. Nobody quite knew what to do with them so… random bullshit go.
The best part of this duel is that Yugi didn’t even need to activate diffusion wave motion to win. He could have just attacked one blue eyes, dealt 1900 points of damage to Kaiba who had 1800 life points, and won. But he activated that card to deal 5700 damage just for the flex
The funny thing is that if Kaiba wins this duel, Marik's entire plan is ruined. Since in that scenario he wouldn't be able to beat Yugi in a duel, and so he can't get his hands on the puzzle. (also, Kaiba vs Marik would have been such a fun duel to watch)
thats the best thing of this duel, they literally used lot of existing cards, just that they use it differently. almost no new cards invented. Marik vs Yugi final on the other hand was like "wtf i've never seen that" every fckin week lmaooo
Even thou kaiba officially pretends the egyptian past is meaningless, he once heard its call when he dueled ichizu. Ironically he does the same in this duel by counting on his blue eyes again, Because he trusts his instincts. That's why kaiba is just an entertaning character, besides his drip, poses, his ego & Triple-S Tier Trash Talk! He is Actually more believable than most shonen Protagonists.
I absolutely love this duel and this is by far the absolute best duel throughout the Battle City Arc and I absolutely love it when Yugi and Kaiba summons their Egyptian God Cards. Honestly I like it when Yugi summons Slifer during this duel because it’s a lot more epic. We also get to see two new fusion monsters during this duel XYZ Dragon Cannon and Dark Paladin. Yugi’s combo that he used to help him get Slifer The Sky Dragon out was absolutely brilliant and very very impressive.
Watched his battle with Marek on prime yesterday. Was like 6 or 7 episodes and like 2.5 hours with commercials. Didnt remember how long that was stretched when I was a child 20 years ago.
Watching Yu gi oh! when I was younger I thought it was faster paced but now looking back on it , it’s quite longer than I remember. Now I realise it’s just a game of reverse this reverse that 🤣
