What a shame it's taken the BBC this long to celebrate this wonderful show, they obviously have no idea how much we loved the GOODIES ,RIP TIM and thanks for the wonderful memories chaps ,can't wait to watch them all again 🙉🙈🙊
I was brought up in Ealing, a few hundred yards for the film studios. Every time I watch the Goodies running around somewhere - I recognise it. Literally part of my childhood - for two reasons ! Many many thanks :-)
There weren't many of us in the states that knew of the Goodies, but for the few of us who did, it was the high-point of any week. Their episodes typically aired Saturday nights at 1am ( technically Sunday morning ) on PBS of all things. The following Monday I would try describing it to my classmates whose parents had the audacity to put their children to bed at a reasonable hour. I could never get more than a few words out before the whole scene played in my head. Next thing I knew I was in the fetal position laughing. Years later I'd learn about the tragic results of the Ecky Thump episode and realize how close I'd come to dying. I can't imagine any year of my life ( in the last 4 decades ) where the 1975 Goodies theme didn't play in my head at one point or another. Especially when some horrible workplace accident happens, forklift driving off a dock, someone falling off a ladder, etc.
PBS seemed to offer some great things late at night from what I can remember (I am originally from the US). It's where I first saw Monty Python as well!
Brilliant as always. My favourite TV show - period. Growing up in Australia they defined my childhood. Just wish they’d release all the episodes on iTunes.
Just watched the Little & Large interview as well...life is cruel and nasty...it's also beautiful, giving and fun...and that's what both Tim & Eddie lived for...so glad you have put these interviews up as they ARE so important - showing innocent clever fun.
They were so brilliant in that show , always have been in anything they’ve done. Such brilliantly talented and funny blokes. Lovely to see them together here. The Goodies is part of my treasured childhood memories, I felt quite sophisticated as a child watching this and it set the dial for my sense of humour.
It was a magical evening at the Redgrave Theatre and a lovely Slapstick weekend all together. So sad to know that this is the last time we would get to see Tim and all the Goodies together (unless you were at the Sorry I'll Read That Again Again at the Old Vic the next night). Thank you for putting this video up, I had no idea that it was being filmed, it's so lovely to see this again
Thank you so much for posting this up. I loved seeing The Goodies all together, still bouncing lines off each other, still making each other laugh. It makes my heart ache to know that this rotten virus has robbed us of lovely Tim & of the rest of the planned Goodies 50th anniversary shows & specials. Vale Tim. xo :'(
Best programme ever, i remember at school everyone would say, dont forgot the goodies is on tonight. Thank you all so much, amd there all still hilarious ❤
I went to the filming of The Goodies at the Olympics, at the BBC TV Centre, and it was fantastic. I have a relative who worked on the show. Apparently The Goodies had to get a special fire licence to have more than 10 table tennis balls on set at once. And I think that the Super Spike song came out of it. And the show was a part of my childhood. I loved The Goodies. :-)
I was there and got to ask a question at 43:28 about how the fight scenes were done . The goodies. They wore t'hat of the grand masters and ee they were grand! May Tims memory ever be honored.
I found out about Tim Brooke-Taylor's passing yesterday evening and am just gutted. I spent the rest of the night watching interviews he gave, episodes of The Goodies I have on VHS that I recorded at the time, episodes of Cambridge Circus and At Last, The 1948 Show and anything else I could find him in. I live in the U.S. and The Goodies aired on our Public Broadcast Stations (PBS) starting in the mid-seventies. I was in high school then. It was way before the internet and the only way I could learn about the behind the scenes, who was who and such was during the PBS Pledge breaks. In the 1990's, a chain of book stores called Borders opened and they sold books, newspapers and magazines from England. Eventually, the internet arrived. I remember watching (and enjoying) Bananaman. First time I saw it I recognized the voices of The Goodies right away. I had nieces and nephews seven years and younger. My "excuse" to watch it. My prayers go out to Brooke-Taylor's family, and friends.
Wonderful - thank you for posting this, especially for those like myself unable to attend. I thought the January ISIRTA show would be the last new footage I'd ever see of The Goodies all together, so this is a real treat. Tim Brooke-Taylor was of course brilliant right to the end and still keenly missed.
When I was around 8 or 9 in the 70's my uncle who was only 8 yrs older than me gave me a hand me down tape recorder and a few blank tapes that he had recorded on. On one side was ACDC Dirty Deeds album. On the other side was a recording off the tv of The Goodies. It was the episode where they turned into clowns off getting rid of a large can of tomatoe soup. I would laugh so much just listening to this show a few yrs b4 ever seeing it.
I’m so happy I found this‼️ Thanks ever so much for posting this event! It means SO much in this time, and it helps keep Timbo alive in our hearts. We were lucky in Canada because the CBC showed and reran all the BBC and the ITV series continuously at 5pm every weekday for a few years! The wit (Brighton to Birkenhead freeway!⭐️) mixed with cheeky naughtiness (how many times was Bill almost naked?😜) and irreverence (Tim is more regal than her majesty!👑). Every time I see a teapot I think of him. Nobody wore the Union Jack better. 🇬🇧😂. Good night Timbo wherever you are‼️❤️
Slapstick Festival: Moreover now I’m doing a ISIHAC marathon. I don’t make selfies usually except last summer in London I had to take one of myself with the Mornington Crescent roundel. Good luck, take care and I hope your festival comes back as soon as possible and for many more years. 🌟☮️❤️

My family knew Graeme Garden’s parents and they used to say that he spent hours and hours in writing and honing the script for ‘The Goodies’. A lot of long hard work but look at the result!
I had a selfie two weeks before Tim Passed away Luckly I didnt catch Covic but its a shock he said to me Im still alive which I thought was strange at the time but what a wonderful comic actor sad loss.
I would really like to see again the Goodies tooothpaste tube episode alluded to by BO - has anybody please got a copy? It's Charity Bounce (1972) with Jonathan Cecil.
Shame tim was gone after this due to corvid glad he spent this wonderful time with like minded folks of sense of humour genre the goodies seem such good friends still they are treasured we still watch the goodies now and are available on dvd full set etc now from bbc .rip Tim brook taylor
To honour Tim's memory, fans are donating to a favourite charity of his, that helps children and adults with special needs to have exercise and fun outdoors. The details are here: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/olga-ruocco-daley4?fbclid=IwAR1aMxEa_ucdlKvurJhBsV-pwBOFcYg6sF1UAsOIdHEE2au_FaF0pXSejFM It would be lovely if people could manage to give something in the next few days - this Friday would have been Tim's 80th birthday. Thank you.
Private Eye published a little cartoon that week - no caption, just a flagpole with Tim's beloved Union Jack waistcoat fluttering at half-mast. Said it all.
Do you ever wonder what motivates the 4 Thumbs-Downers. Too few Goodies. there ought to have been a girl, Tim Brooke-Taylor ought to be taller, why didn't Bill shave the beard off or at least dye it green, where are the Danish/Israeli/Latvian subtitles? Does the train of thought go: "I don't like the Goodies, therefore I shall watch the Goodies and then give them a thumbs down because I'm too daft to NOT press the "Play" key?"

I used to roar with laughter watching these three talented jokers, classic British comedy :) . Thanks for everything, lads :) .
Irreplaceable in our hearts!
Much love to Tim Brooke Taylor. I was lucky enough to meet him at the convention they had for the Goodies back in 2000 in Melbourne.

That was quite wonderful to watch, clapped them in with tears.... always sad when we lose someone dear to our hearts.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Always enjoy the Slapstick festival chats, and always disappointed not to see any of the clips they are talking about!

We miss him, too! He was such a great friend and supporter of the festival.
We were in luck here in Australia...the goodies were pretty much on constant repeat on the ABC throughout the whole of the nineteen eighties.

Just watching this again. Re the Barratt Homes publicity event mentioned at 26:00 , I wonder if any footage or photos survive?
The Goodies were brilliant. I used to watch them all the time, and went once to a filming in studio.
One of my favourite episodes was Saturday Night Grease :)

Were the "clips" really only a few seconds long or have they been edited down for this version?
The clips had to be edited down so that we could release the event to RUclips - they were shown in full at the actual event.
