    Thank you. We need more videos like this. I just wish that Lowes and Home Depot had more to offer when it comes to metal studs. There is a lot of great ideas on construction on RUclips but our local stores have very little to offer.

      That's okay, there is most likely a drywall supply house close by that you can get it. Just google drywall supplier for your area and see what pops up. They will have everything drywall, metal stud of all sizes, gauge, any height, drywall, insulation, drywall compound and everything taping. They will also have ceiling grid, tools and equipment all related the trade. Let me know if you need help finding a place👍

    total newb trying to gain info and skills before finishing our last two floors this was informative. For outside walls will I need to have cross blocks I see many videos with no cross blocks and some with 16inch spacing from top to bottom seems overkill now that I finished the first floor of my Mothers unit. 2x3 studs with FCB walls on a concrete column and frame. For second floor with loft and trying to figure if those cross block are really necessary.

    • @ConstructionKronies

      Carrying channel is all you need. Always a good idea for all steel stud walls. 16" o.c. is standard spacing in America. I hope that answers your question!

    • @ConstructionKronies
      @ConstructionKronies  Год назад

      Sort of, it's called carrying channel, acts as a wall stiffener and holds the insulation up in the wall. We put it in every 4' at the knockouts when the wall is insulated or you can put 1 run through the middle of short walls if it's only needed to stiffen (keep the studs square)

    Hi, how do you attach and seal vapor barrier on metal stud

    • @ConstructionKronies
      @ConstructionKronies  5 месяцев назад

      Yes good question. What I do is use framing screws. I take the tabs from some drywall, screw the wafers through them and cut them so there's like a washer just little squares of the drywall tabs. Also I use 4"x4" pieces of drywall to initially hang the poly at the top with 1-1/4" drywall screws get it hung with those screw it off, caulk it and then rake those pieces of drywall off. Tape it up all done.

    • @ConstructionKronies

      Yes hello! I use what ever gauge is specified in the construction documents (drawings or specifications) 25gauge is standard light gauge, 20 gauge us heavier and is also common for interior partitions. All exterior walls are 16 or 18 gauge.

    Sorry if this is a dumb question. Why do you run your drywall behind the wall, rather than putting a nailer in the corner and running your track all the way into the corner?.... I have done loads of wood framing and thats what we've always done. But never metal stud framing.

    • @ConstructionKronies
      @ConstructionKronies  3 месяца назад +2

      Not dumb at all! In these situations it's always nice to have the option of running your sheet through or cutting into halfway behind the stud to maximize drywall coverage or then opposite save a cut. In this specific spot you are also closing the garage side off completely and starting the new wall in the inside of the house. Wood is solid so it would close it off better but even with wood we wood still want drywall behind the corner stud to close off the garage side or I'm other situations it could be another unit or hallway to a building.... hard corners can always be used in interior walls but floaters are a benefit to using steel stud. Hope that helps!

    QUESTION.
    Can, metal studs be welded?. Can metal studs be bolted to wood (truses, floor boards etc) example running off ceiling for a garage extension? 🤔🤔

    • @ConstructionKronies
      @ConstructionKronies  Год назад +1

      Sure why not. We screw them right to wood all the time just using 1-1/4" drywall screws.

    Hi Chris, great videos. I watched many of them as I gear up to tackle a project in my house: wood stove alcove. Quick question. My ceilings are just over 9 feet. I bought 10 foot steel studs. I need to cut them to length but discovered that the place I need to cut them is near or through a knockout. Is that permitted? How do I handle this situation? Thanks

    • @ConstructionKronies
      @ConstructionKronies  Год назад

      Yes it is perfectly normal to have a cut at a Knockout, if you want to avoid that cut some off the bottom then cut your length, I do this sometimes to keep the strength. Either way just keep the knockouts at the same elevations to run wires or channel.

    • @ConstructionKronies

      Best way is to go through a local drywall supply house like Foundation Building Material or Brock White. I don't recommend going to a box store like Home Depot for them because the have extremely limited stock.

      No worries bro man thanks for the question the pin is a dot that shoots only 1 direction, no line just a dot. We used them all the time before line lasers now lines are so good we use them and multiple at a time for everything This is apart of the layout on the ground so we can first hang them in the right spot
