I want to tell you that, after binge watching all of your videos, this is one of the best quality philosophical content on youtube. I would like to encourage you to make videos more often. Even though you don't have massive viewership yet, with this kind of quality your channel is sure to blow up some day.
I'm making my way through the 1794/95 WL and have practically burned out at the end of the theoretical portion. My head exploded when I read the proposition "an independent activity is determined by reciprocally-related-acting-and-being-passively-affected" -- seriously?! I share your sentiment regarding the lack of accessible secondary literature, so thank you for this video, which at least has given me the courage to dive back in. Looking forward to the next video.
I found your channel today and I just wanted to say that you are really impressive! The way you reference multiple difficult philosophers while making all of them more intelligible is just awesome.
This is the best short summary of Fichte's project I have ever seen. Great work! You aren't joking about his being hard to understand. It took me two weeks to figure out how the pieces fit together when I was first learning about him.
Amazing video! What do you think is the role of memory in this theory of self consciousness? On an intuitive level it seems like any theory of self-consciousness would have to say something abouy memory.
your insights are always spot on and truly inspiring. I did notice the prounpuncation of Gichte's name is wuite off ( i've dtruggled a lot, science months avtually if i shall mention it), i'm not german but öive here over a decade therfore i thought adressing it might qualify as something constructive. Because Fichtes name is also a name for a particular tree type its quite easy to find great audio ressources... i don't wanna name them to not sound as an ad. Im sorry to mention such a tiny thing, but it clushes with the genius contenet. Sorry. Dont hate me! Keep up the fantastic work! 🎉
Thank you for your comment! And feedvack is always welcome!! I am glad to hear that ypu like the content, and if ypu do send the name of the source I will make sure to say it correctly in the next videos 🙂
Thanks for you comment!! I hope soon. I was making this video and because it was too long, it will be two separate videos. So now I already have most of the text done for the next 😄
Descartes cogito is one derived from observation of one's own thought and the necessary conclusion of an agent (the I) being the bearer, the one who thinks that thought. Fichte's I=I on the other hand is the transcendental a prior condition of any judgment, more specific the principle of identity (A=A). Fichte's point is before formal Logic there needs to be a transcendental Logic, a Principle which grounds it while in Descartes he really simply makes a judgment out of empirical observation (his own thoughts) and concludes there must be an agent of that thought, which considering his radical skeptical attitude is simply a mistake. Fichte did call radical/dogmatic sceptisim out in a footnote iirc stating it cant be a system of organazing thought since it itself is sceptical of all systems
@@petscop2604 I wanted to reply to the comment, but you did a wonderful job explaining! You seem to know a lot about Fichte, how come? And what did you think of the video? 😄😄
If A is 0 it is then nothing and if its nothing there can be no contradiction for there is nothing which can be contradicted. If you say that you do not care about existence there is no contradiction since if 0 is nothing, which it is, the formulation reads as "not nothing is not nothing" which is a completely valid judgment
If A is 0, then -0 (whatever it is, even if i is an impossibility) is not equal to 0 for the same subject. The whole point is that the content of A does not matter. Also, the comment of @Petscop2 is also a good way of looking at it.
I don't understand how can this be called a philosophy , it's just a waste of time , if a there can be thesis-antithesis-synthesis of a thing how can that be true? It got changed itself 3 times in a process

Fichte is a super underrated philosopher 😊 Btw you're the best philosophy channel on RUclips!

Love your videos. Never stop.
Great video, thank you.
Thank you so much for your effort to explain these ideas
Guess its time to reread Fichte... Great video!

RUclipsr, your work is great! Will you continue to update the script text on your website? I see that they haven't been updated for a long time.
Please do a series on Wittgenstein
What do think of the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once?
And it's philosophical themes.
ty ..
how does Ficthe's "I = I" differ from Decartes' "I think therefore I am"

"-A =/= A"
but what if A equals 0...
