    I learned how to do a granny rectangle blanket from someone else, but it's always good to get new ideas from Alison as she explains in both UK and US terms

    I love grannys 😊. Always have. I made a brown & beige rectangle granny blanket for a nephew and his wife to see for themselves how warm they are, bc of how many I made their baby girl. I couldn't get over how fast rectangles work up. ❤ Thanks Allison 😁

    Love this! I’m a huge fan of crochet rectangles. It’s the only way I can make blankets with straight edges😂
    Coincidentally I’m moving to Scotland soon! I’m currently making throws for our new house using rectangle patterns. Love that they have a Scottish name ❤
    They are now langwarms!
    Thanks Alison x

    Brilliant. I was given bags of bits. Lots of bags of bits, and I'm talking bits, anything from a metre to three or four metres in length.
    this is all brand new yarn cut for unfinished crafting projects and I with my yarny heart could not bear to throw it away. With the first lot I tied together enough, using a simple over hand knot and leaving the ends showing and paired it with a contrasting yarn and made a chunky wrap. I just started at one end and kept going till I ran out of prepared yarn then did a border. This would be ideal as it's different and I can make this as a long wrap or lap blanket and add buttons or not, the yarn can be used up and the projects can be given to help people keep warm come the winter. Strangely enough it looks fine with all those ends showing. Thank you.

      When I do this about twice a year, I tie. Dark then Light. Every few rows, I put a couple rows of a solid such as black or brown. Gives the eye something to look at, then give the others light and dark. Love this one and hearing her too.

      Saturday, I gifted a Langwarm, inspired by you to a couple who married here in the US. Hannah is from my church and Jon is from Scotland! I made it in Red Green White as a Christmas piece for them and presented in a sturdy decorative box from Joann Fabrics. Thank you for helping me bring his Homeland to the wedding! My pattern for rectangle is slightly different but adapted it with your guidance. Thank You.

    I agree with you about the Carnival yarn! I am currently making a blanket for our livingroom in one of the autumnal colours and it is such a beautiful yarn to work with. My blanket is just a squishy extra warm one using front post and back post trebles, but the colours in the yarn makes it look,so much more impressive than it actually is. Whenever Hobbi has it on sale I buy other colours now as I love it so much and I have yet to receive a colour that is not beautiful.
    I love the ideas you have suggested with the granny squares! Thank you for another beautiful pattern.

  • @debdeb54
    @debdeb54 Год назад

    I love your method. I especially like that the first 2 rounds are offset instead of the clusters directly opposite each other. It makes for a neater finish. What I found confusing was when you were on the second round, all the extra clusters on the end. I couldn't get it to work. I altered it a bit, and I was able to get it nicely squared. It's going to bother me until I understand it. Could you explain more what you are doing on the corners. Thanks in advance!

    • @dawnschultz2602
      @dawnschultz2602 Год назад +1

      @debdeb54. On the second round she is putting 4 clusters in the same stitch with 2 chains between each cluster. She’s doing that in both stitches ( 2 times in a row) to form both corners.) On subsequent rows there will be clusters between as the crocheted piece gets bigger.

    • @debdeb54
      @debdeb54 Год назад +1

      I will try it again and see if I can get it to work. Thank you for taking the time to explain it to me.

    I feel silly since everyone seems to understand, but would you please clarify if my starting chain should be the 1/2 of the top down measurement or the left to right measurement? I’m looking to make apx 30 (top down) by 40 (left to right). Thank you!

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
      @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel  Год назад +1

      I did half top down as it widens and lengthens as you work around it. This will create enough to go over the sides of the bed
