Alison I could listen to you speak all day lovely project thanks for the share
Wow, thank you
I learned how to do a granny rectangle blanket from someone else, but it's always good to get new ideas from Alison as she explains in both UK and US terms
I love grannys 😊. Always have. I made a brown & beige rectangle granny blanket for a nephew and his wife to see for themselves how warm they are, bc of how many I made their baby girl. I couldn't get over how fast rectangles work up. ❤ Thanks Allison 😁
That is awesome!
I've learned a new expression: "That's me..." 😊
Love this! I’m a huge fan of crochet rectangles. It’s the only way I can make blankets with straight edges😂
Coincidentally I’m moving to Scotland soon! I’m currently making throws for our new house using rectangle patterns. Love that they have a Scottish name ❤
They are now langwarms!
Thanks Alison x
Where about are you moving to?
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel Burntisland in Fife. Our youngest daughter lives in Edinburgh and we want to be nearer to her. Beyond excited 😄
Wonderful instructions, thank you. Your accent is lovely - Outlander crochet ;-))
Oh Allison I was going to say that this blanket is beautiful and also I was going to take a break from crocheting but now I think iam going to do this
Excellent endless possibilities I can see a fine table runner and a blanket or two coming up many thanks 🙏
Thank for the tutorial.
The blanket joins my to-do crochet list, but I could watch this channel just for the accent. 😁
Brilliant. I was given bags of bits. Lots of bags of bits, and I'm talking bits, anything from a metre to three or four metres in length.
this is all brand new yarn cut for unfinished crafting projects and I with my yarny heart could not bear to throw it away. With the first lot I tied together enough, using a simple over hand knot and leaving the ends showing and paired it with a contrasting yarn and made a chunky wrap. I just started at one end and kept going till I ran out of prepared yarn then did a border. This would be ideal as it's different and I can make this as a long wrap or lap blanket and add buttons or not, the yarn can be used up and the projects can be given to help people keep warm come the winter. Strangely enough it looks fine with all those ends showing. Thank you.
When I do this about twice a year, I tie. Dark then Light. Every few rows, I put a couple rows of a solid such as black or brown. Gives the eye something to look at, then give the others light and dark. Love this one and hearing her too.
Saturday, I gifted a Langwarm, inspired by you to a couple who married here in the US. Hannah is from my church and Jon is from Scotland! I made it in Red Green White as a Christmas piece for them and presented in a sturdy decorative box from Joann Fabrics. Thank you for helping me bring his Homeland to the wedding! My pattern for rectangle is slightly different but adapted it with your guidance. Thank You.
I love this pattern ❤
I am making a blanket for charity. This pattern is easy and looks lovely. I like the colors you used. Thank you.😊
Beautiful colors!
They are!
Wow how beautiful thank you ❤
I have to nake a baby blanket. Im going to try this. Thank you
I've been looking for a rectangle shape in a video! Thanks bunches Alison!!
You are so welcome!
This is so timely! Just Saturday I was deciding how to use my ENORMOUS yarn stash for good. Making fiddle balls and sensory cuffs doesn't do much to destash! Now I'm going to make crate blankets for my local SPCA...and you have reminded me about this perfect pattern! Works up so quickly! Thanks you!
You are so welcome!
Love grannies! And I love learning new ways to make them ❤. Thanks again Allison 😁 for adding to my list of stuff to make 😅😊.
You are so welcome!
Love this so many ideas from place mat size to huge throws. I have 10 balls of coffee shade in chunky yarn I'm going to make a sofa throw for winter thank you.
Rugs! Floor mats and hall runners! Sometimes you want something with squared-off corners instead of ovals and rounds. I've been thinking about what I was going to do to make a hall runner lately. This is it! Thank you, Alison.
M8nd add no slip matting to the back so it dosnt slide from under you.
I agree with you about the Carnival yarn! I am currently making a blanket for our livingroom in one of the autumnal colours and it is such a beautiful yarn to work with. My blanket is just a squishy extra warm one using front post and back post trebles, but the colours in the yarn makes it look,so much more impressive than it actually is. Whenever Hobbi has it on sale I buy other colours now as I love it so much and I have yet to receive a colour that is not beautiful.
I love the ideas you have suggested with the granny squares! Thank you for another beautiful pattern.
I LOVE Carnival yarn! I discovered it last winter. Have made several scarves and hats for gifts and people are blown away by the colors. When Hobbii had it on sale recently I bought several more colors. Can't wait to use them.
Thank you, I have always wanted to learn how to do that. I saved the video so I can watch it again❤🎉
So pretty. Love the colors. Perfect fall blanklet.❤
Thank you! 😊
I love the rectangle granny blankets but this is cool! Ty Alison for such a lovely pattern! ❤
Love listening to you accent x Thank you for the clear instructions of your beautiful projects Lis x
Thanks so much 😊
I've got new yarn coming so I'll be making one of these beauties!!! Thanks Allison
Alison this is a beautiful granny stitch blanket pattern. I’m so excited to give this a try! I love the color way’s you’ve chosen. Much love from Houston, Texas USA Anne ♥️
Alison. You must have read my mind. I've just bought some variegated yarn to do a granny rectangular blanket but didn't know how to start my double bed size. Now I know. Thank you so much for your channel
Wonderful!
This is very beautiful
Oh it's years since I did one. Now I'm going to do another. Thanks Alison.
Please do!
Lovely colours AND nice shape, never have Made one like this kind and I think I'd prefer it than the square shape. I'm going to make one for my grandaughter Helena coming soon in few weeks. Thank you, Alison!!😘🌹🧶🌹🧶
Many thanks!

Hi Alison, I'm new to your channel & have subscribed because I love your and you explain things so clearly. I have done Square grannies but never rectangles. Thinking I will make a scarf for the coming winter. Greetings from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. 😊
Oh my daughter in law is from Manatoba
Very nice, but maybe more of a close up ❤
Love it ❤
Love this pattern. I was thinking it would make a cute toilet tank cover.😊
I started on it yesterday. I love you tutorial. I have a question if you don't mind. I'd love to know if you could do a tutorial for a mandala style throw?
Very nice ❤
Thanks 🤗
Wow I love the pattern and colours, absolutely gorgeous 😍 can I ask about the Langwarm name and does it have a meaning please? Tia x
It means Long and Warm ( langwarm Scots slang )
Oh I love that it's Scottish slang ❤ it's so pretty, thank you for letting me know x
Hi,great video.Just a question.Do u turn yer work after each round? Why do u not just continue to go around?I am new to this so sorry if it is a dumb question.Thanx.
Love the blanket, do you have an idea how much yarn you would need? Thank you love your work, and your a great teacher💕
I'm sorry, amount of yarn for a regular throw. Thanks again
Depends on the size iv got 12x100g balls I was making it for single bed but think I will use it as Autumn is drawing in and it will be fab for a sofa thrown chilly evenings watching tv
How many stitches would I start with to make a baby blanket using the langwarm pattern
Sweet Allison. Please you need to get the camera closer to your work so people like me, who are challenged, can see better what you are doing.
I love your method. I especially like that the first 2 rounds are offset instead of the clusters directly opposite each other. It makes for a neater finish. What I found confusing was when you were on the second round, all the extra clusters on the end. I couldn't get it to work. I altered it a bit, and I was able to get it nicely squared. It's going to bother me until I understand it. Could you explain more what you are doing on the corners. Thanks in advance!
@debdeb54. On the second round she is putting 4 clusters in the same stitch with 2 chains between each cluster. She’s doing that in both stitches ( 2 times in a row) to form both corners.) On subsequent rows there will be clusters between as the crocheted piece gets bigger.
I will try it again and see if I can get it to work. Thank you for taking the time to explain it to me.
Also dear , you have a dark background with dark yarn. It makes it very hard to see .
What size yarn?
I feel silly since everyone seems to understand, but would you please clarify if my starting chain should be the 1/2 of the top down measurement or the left to right measurement? I’m looking to make apx 30 (top down) by 40 (left to right). Thank you!
I did half top down as it widens and lengthens as you work around it. This will create enough to go over the sides of the bed
😅I put them on the top of my couch’s so they don’t mark my walls.
Where's the link for the yarn??🤷♀️
You get the yarn from Hobbii yarns online
