From Terence Wise in UK…….I share your view but do not be deceived it all goes back to Thatcher and every government. The figures show that the 1970s were the most equal in the entire history of the UK. In fact the figures also show that in the last six months of the Callaghan government the economy was recovering but not soon enough to save it. The death of John Smith allowed Blair to change Labour to a Thatcherite party and use war as she did.The only half decent prime minister since has been John Major but he was hobbled by the divisions in his own party. We have endured a forty year decline and I have lived through it as an adult and unless we come to terms with the BRICS instead of following the US,we are screwed. Best wishes.

From my Googling, it appears that the EU tariff on American cars is 10 percent, not 100 percent. I lived for a while in Germany. Even if there were no tariff, I can't picture Germans flocking to buy American cars. Made in the USA is synonymous with lower quality.

It was the goal since day one: Europe is totally expendable for the USA... unless it manages to shake off US financial control and gets unified India-style. In that case, Europe would become the new US rival and a natural ally of China and/or India (not so much Russia though). The USA and Russia will work like hammer and anvil to prevent such scenario, even if each one on their own, it's just natural, keeping Europe disunited and and subservient. Thus Europe will become deindustrialized, impoverished and growingly balcanized.

NATO only benefits the first world. Just look at the distribution of advanced chips and sanctions on Russia. However, the second and third world will benefit massively from NATO being less corporative among each other, and the United States as well as France will have less influence in the political matters of the global South. It's a loss for the traditional West, but it's a huge victory for everyone else. Also, the freedom from dollars will mean that sanctions aren't a real threat, so countries like Cuba and Venezuela can progress.

Manufacturing costs and operating costs are lower in China. Also, labor quality is higher in China. If Nike and Apple move back to the USA, they'll have to pay higher electricity costs, higher transportation costs, higher employee benefits, higher legal costs, etc. Also, it will take them a long time to build up supply chains. @@superkd7030 - That's true... or rather "trueish", because the only way to buy Arab (and most other) oil is to pay it in USD. Saudi Arabia issued an exception for China but only for them, anyone else has to pay in USD, not even euros are accepted (Iran does accept euros however). That's largely what makes the USD not a mere "fiat currency" (as can be the euro or the yuan or the ruble or the yen) but a veritable black-gold-backed currency. That's what has allowed the USA to issue almost endless debt and spread around globally the resulting inflation: the USA "prints money" and the global prices go up. It's what is widely called the Petrodollar Scheme but, as Lee Camp reported a year or two ago, don't look for it in Wikipedia, it's a censored or heavily manipulated subject by the political commissaries that control many aspects of that suppossedly crowdsourced referential outlet.

THEY jump to Mexico, Brazil, etc , etc
They Decimate any remaining sales the US companies had in those and surrounding countries.
      They sell EVERY vehicle.
They ALSO arrange massive reciprocal trade with those countries (And BETWEEN them) to compensate for and avoid the inevitable threats from the US.
Now multiply across 150 countries and thousands of products.

My arguments basically fell on deaf ears for the most part. Now it seems Canada and Canadians have finally come around to my way of thinking.
We are going to have to strike out on our own, develop new markets in the Global South and form alliances and pacts with organizations such as BRICS and the EU and basically tell the US to sod off and go pound salt.
It will not be easy nor painless to do this and we are going to be in a world of hurt in the short to mid-term, but in the end we would come out both stronger and better off economically. We just need to political will and courage to do it.

Predicting inflation starting to rise again this quarter while leading indicators showing economy slowing (not to mention government figures pumped up for their Gain side). Global economy very weak which affects US. Fed dropping rates 0.50 shows they're VERY worried about financial downturn/crisis. interest rates coming down are also an indication banks are LESS willing to loan money into existence. The question here is where is the inflation going to come from in the near term? Consumers are mostly tapped out which is 70% of US economy (consumption). Yes inflation very likely to return but not before it continues to come down... Inflation can be a concern, but remember, certain assets like stocks and Crypto’s acts as a hedge. Long & short-term trading is generally safer, allowing investors to weather market volatility. I have managed to grow a nest egg of around 3.2 Btc’s to a decent 27Btc’s in the space of a few months... I'm especially grateful to Kathleen Eisen, whose deep expertise and traditional trading acumen have been invaluable in this challenging, ever-evolving financial landscape.

One misinformation here is that Colombia did not "capitulate". Colombia made it known that the only way Colombia will accept deportee is if they are treated humanely, e.g., deportees should not be treated as criminals. They should not be shackled. That was all. The fact was, the US government complied with Colombia's demand, not the other way around.

Sean I think you are incorrect about the winner in the Trump vs Colombia battle. Colombia has never said they would not take back their citizens, they oppose the US handcuffing and flying their citizens back on US military planes and instead sent their own planes to bring back their citizens without the handcuffs.

Well I live in Finland, and there has always been very high tariffs and import taxes on US goods, on US cars you pay 100% more on motor vehicles compared to US prices, I also own firearms and you are paying over 100% for what you would pay in the US, I don't know why but even if you wanted to buy US goods because you like them, people always give them a wide berth because of the price. When you know US citizens are buying a car that is worth $20,000 and in Finland they cost over €40,000 or a rifle in the states that cost $500 and in Finland you pay $1200 it just puts you off buying American.
