Nils, what an exceptional interview with experienced commentary. Looks like the KIWI's have another cup trophy, riding those shifts and powering their foils with pressurized seawater to stay high and flying. Truly remarkable their ability to dominate this modern sport with technology.
Thank you for all your coverage! Not always able to watch the whole race since its on so late here in NZ. Kiwis look impressive, but so do all the teams that sailed!
One thing the Kiwis have done well throughout is picking the first shift. Even on races where they started slower and behind, they've consistently been on the right side of the track.
Wednesday was won not by GBR’s improvements, but by NZ’s mistakes, which occurred in ultra high risk starting strategies which they’d never have attempted had they not been 4-zip up in the first place.
I'd agree with race 5 when they dropped off the foils, race 6 though it was just out sailed, a couple of minor errors but nothing big. Britannia is a faster boat but not an all rounder and the Kiwis seem to be more efficient sailing. Been loving the racing and hope. It goes to the wire as will miss watching it. 🇳🇿 For the win
When listening to the coms on ETNZ it really sounds like a genuine team effort, with all team members making relevant contributions, like all countries, we like to think we compete on the world stage pretty well for a small country, but there's something about the 1 team thing that we seem to excel at, both humbly and efficiently and as a Kiwi I'm proud to be considered an important part of that team ... Winning by 50m is ok, but by 1000m….i do feel sorry for the British. The 2024 AC definitely belong to the Kiwis. It’ll take a miracle for the Brits. Just need to complete the journey as a fan. 😊
Excellent commentary, the best for me! But seriously, ETNZ has too much of everything!. If you take out the 'own goal' and splash down of Wednesday, (apparently trying to be too clever) where the Brits were gifted a victory, there really was only one race which they looked better, and not by much. On the other hand, the margins on all the other races have been consistently significantly greater in favour of ETNZ. I don't understand why in todays races, why didn't the Brits also sail to the right, if they also thought that was better? Or did their weather report not tell them? Is the weather man better on ETNZ? These are the 'top' sailors in the world, and they should know exactly what to do. Go with them, get the same wind and make it much closer, rather than relying on the 'best' start, and then allow the leader to simply sail away! One more race (maybe). SF will never go away; it was simply terrible, and destroyed Dean Barker! But, marvellous for Grant Dalton to come back from then and be on top of the world, for so long!
As a kiwi really like to balanced analysis and inerviewing style but if conditions stay the same or more wind with no chop I can't see us having another bad day like earlier in the week.
This is not sailing, this is electronics with bicycles. As impressive it is. Thankfully the Kiwis already state they’ll drop that bicycle design for me next cup.
Our boat is completely different to the dog we had to sail in 2013. Referring to that constantly just shows how desperate you are for the smallest smidgeon of hope. All the same, I hope the next race is more like the second race we only just lost with a different result of course.

@@MrDschubba Having previously felt sure Burling would be a not-starter, and quite possibly a disaster, in the commentary box, I'd have to say that when the opportunity arose (due to their boat being wingless for several events in the last SailGP through no fault of theirs) he was really excellent (or, in kiwi parlance, "fairly good, actually").
Comparing the losses and boat development in San Francisco to these machines is not a clever observation, trying to make people nervous when is not really needed.

ETNZ had the inferior boat which they sailed superbly. It all changed when Russell at match point bulldozed the management hiatus and they came out next race able to foil up wind and do foiling tacks. That ain't going to happen for INEOS.

Obviously the Brits biggest mistake was not hiring an Aussie to skipper the boat. The rest of the top 4 boats all had Australian helms, even the British Women's AC team had an Aussie. This could be the 5th Cup in a row with an Aussie steering the winner (albeit Ashby only steered while tacking and gybing in '17 and '21 :).
What a pity it is not Americas Cup yachting. The taxpayer instead paid millions for cyclists to pedal a skiff above the water in a foreign country. Did they also pay for the tribal concert party to travel on an expenses paid holiday?
There's just one question I have about ETNZ. If it's true that they use water ballast is it possible for them to dump it via their new rudder to gain a weight loss advantage in light air ? Maybe THAT is the real reason they are faster through the tacks and accelerating so fast. It would be very easy to disguise a siphon pipe as a hydraulic pipe plus you get the benefit of reducing cavitation at the rudder through manoeuvres. Would the Kiwi's cheat as well as abuse the right of way rules ? Fck yes. Its the dirty business hub of the southern hemisphere. Emirates money is drug money from heroine trafficking. They launder it wet. Ever noticed the guilty look on their faces in front of the camera's ? Auckland is a rats nest of corruption.
What are NZ famous for ? Jet boats. So how do they maintain lift and speed through the tacks even when they fall in a hole ? Pressurised water over the foils. They are pumping their way out of trouble. Litteraly. How did ETNZ increase speed over INEOS when they lost pressure ? Why did they fall off the foils in pre start ?
