The bit that surprises me the most is the way the Japanese dragonets are depicted as being all different sizes, unlike the western graphic novel versions.
To be honest I like the Japanese designs WAYY more. Especially in the cover, they have a lot more personality and feel like actual characters. In the English version they don’t seem to have any personality, since most of the time they’re just roaring like any other dragon. The Japanese ones are also so cute!!!
I dont reccomend going just off this picture for sizes, at 4:56, at the bottom of each page, theres a size chart. Sunny, is the smallest, and although she looks around the same size as glory, glory is about the size of two sunnys (height wise)
I need to see Scarlet's and Peril's new designs, and Tsuinami looks amazing, especially her tail. Sunny looks more unique, and it feels this design highlights her sweet nature.
If there's something to be known about the Japanese, it's that they have this innate ability to completely knock anything outta the park and blow up their popularity. The WoF fanbase is definitely going to have some explosive growth in the coming months. I won't be surprised if we end up seeing an uptick in WoF cosplay as well 😁 P.S. The scene with all five of the Dragonets seems to be a shot at the end of the book, when Starflight reunites with the others up on the cliff. That makes me wonder there will be a unique full-page scene for each book 👀

i think thats just the closest spelling they could get, if it was spelled as mudwing in japanese it would be pronounced more like "moodwing" since U makes an "oo" sound. while A makes an "ah" sound (as in "park") so it sounds closer to our english pronunciation of mudwing

They are much more detailed and majestic looking, although aren’t shown to express much emotion.(although, I have seen Jang draw the dragons with more emotion before, example; the dragon guide and the new drawing of clay in the underground cave).The Japanese version is for people who prefer a more cute and cartoony design, and I love it, just not as much as the original.

I must admit though that Glory being the second smallest is kinda jarring, since she's the second most aggressive character of the group (Tsunami being in first). And speaking of Tsunami, I have one question/complaint with hers ... where the gills at? Her neck looks so ... normal, now.
I can't really say I'm impressed with the Japanese adaptations of the dragons. I'm used to them being cute and cartoony. I do dig the symbols for each dragon though. I think that would be a great touch to have each tribe carry their own banner.

Tbh I much prefer the Japanese designs to the American designs of the DOD. The Japanese designs have the added advantage of not only making the size differences between the DOD much more clearer in the wof graphic novels I found it strange that all the tribes appeared to be around the same size, but here I love that the Dragonets if Destiny are depicted as different sizes. Not to mention the Japanese designs give them a lot more personality.
4:02 In my country the covers are the same, but they havent been translated to swedish, which is a shame because, while yes, we are taught english in school and nost of us are fluent, some kids learn slower than others. Also, i really wanna see what a cover in sweden would look like-hoping it'd be changed at all, considering the swedish warriors covers were not changed.

They just pop more, and I like how Seawings have webbing at the tail tip, I think that makes a lot more sense and that's how I imagine Seawings. Plus Tui trying to save the rainforest is so generous! If it was spelled "MudWing," it would be said more like "MoodWing" for them because of the way they say 'u.' So MadWing is the closest to the original

Tbh I much prefer the Japanese designs to the American designs of the DOD. The Japanese designs have the added advantage of not only making the size differences between the DOD much more clearer in the wof graphic novels I found it strange that all the tribes appeared to be around the same size, but here I love that the Dragonets if Destiny are depicted as different sizes. Not to mention the Japanese designs give them a lot more personality.

4:02 In my country the covers are the same, but they havent been translated to swedish, which is a shame because, while yes, we are taught english in school and nost of us are fluent, some kids learn slower than others. Also, i really wanna see what a cover in sweden would look like-hoping it'd be changed at all, considering the swedish warriors covers were not changed.

Omg, the Japanese designs for the characters are amazing! I prefer them much more than the original English ones. They just pop more, and I like how Seawings have webbing at the tail tip, I think that makes a lot more sense and that's how I imagine Seawings. Plus Tui trying to save the rainforest is so generous! I might just get the Japanese books (if I can) because they look cool (I don't speak Japanese), the designs are do cute and really cool! Also how they styled it, they actually look like dragonets! The one in the English book covers are all styled like the adult dragons or don't look much different
