It’s been four and a half years since I was given the privilege to sing at this concert. I was a freshman with only three years of real singing experience. The 25 minutes we performed onstage were some of the most fulfilling of my entire life. I was thrilled by the mosaic of different voices, all with their own stories, unifying in song. I’d like to think that this very performance is the reason I chose to pursue music.
Stumbled upon this video by accident in my recommended. I had the privilege of singing in this choir and it changed my life. Our conductor was brilliant both in music and as a human being, and the songs he chose were relevant to the social issues of our time. He taught us how music has to power to bring together people of all different backgrounds and turn them into family. “Even when (s)he is silent” is particularly beautiful and meaningful, and if you look up the song’s origins you will learn why. Every time we rehearsed that piece I cried a little. Miss this group and still listen to the music.
I remember singing in the MMEA All-State concert chorus choir back in 1984, 1985, and 1986. Still shows how much music plays a part in our lives. Glad they were able to do this performance before locking everything up.
My first time ever at Symphony Hall and it was to see and hear my daughter on its stage. Breathtaking. This was a phenomenal performance, especially considering how short a time these kids sang together.

crazy to think this all happened right before the COVID shut down. I can't imagine this happening even a week later. Miss this choir so much

I too remember this experience. He was amazing, the jazz band scintillating. What a day to remember.
