Man watching this with you feels so special just because not everyone that reacts to this show picks up on the wit or even charm of it sometimes. You really seem to be falling in love with the show the same as many of us did and it's a pleasure to get to feel that again but vicariously through you :)
Fun fact: this story was entirely filmed in the UK (I'd hesitate to say entirely in Wales, but it may have been). Though they did take some reference photos in New York.
"I wouldn't have known without 'Daleks' in the title" 1) Every episode with Daleks in, treats the reveal of the Daleks as a big surprise 2) Every episode with Daleks in has 'Daleks' in the title (with possibly 1 exception in 60 years)
Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your reactions to Doctor WHO ! It's obvious that you're both fascinated with the storylines and really "get" the depth & perfection of the characters! ThankYou!
@Sparx632 i can kinda see it but i think people have over exaggerated the hate for it. To me this story is Genesis of the daleks but in a modern reverse. Sec becomes a human dalek (tryjng to become kaled again) and the pig slaves are genetic mutants. Muto's. And ultimately the Daleks show how deep their "purity" is. Its not a season finale but its a fun episode seing the daleks on a mission instead of hell bent destruction.
I didn't get into DW until 2013 but I can only imagine how insane it must've been that the guy who played Frank in the human dalek episode was suddenly Spider Man xD
Loved this episode. Such a banger.. The top toy for Christmas 2007 was the Human Dalek voice changer helmet. It looked so freaky on a little kid just running around with dalek secs messed up hentai face.
I went to someone’s house the other week and they had a 2006 Lumic Cyber Controller head on display. A friend had given it to him and he didn’t even know what it was. I desperately wanted him to say “Oh, you have it!” but it had sentimental value, so it was more than just John Lumic’s head and I’m not the type to push.
Garfield’s accent is horrendous, that’s what it is. First time I saw him was in this, and I instantly said, “Brit, performing a parody of what non-Americans think Americans sound like.” Was shocked when he was cast as Spider-Man. Thankfully, he improved his accent (and acting) immensely in the intervening years.
Another interesting episode and we really start to see doing something a bit different with the daleks. Always more to see with the old enemies. Not just daleks though...
Tempus in Latin means time so Emergency temporal shift didn't take them as far as it could have . 1930 and the depression is a great setting and looks well done . Not to keen on The Pig faces , but it's a good start . The pieces of Dalek casing must have a purpose , it will be interesting to see how the hybrid Sec works out and what the others do . Martha and the Doctor are developing into a great team .
Actually didn't think much of the name Martha till this character had it. After that, I realized it was a beautiful name and I was silly. Of course, if y'd realized they wanted Freema Agyeman sooner, we might have had her Canary Wharf character of Adeola Oshodi instead, which I think would have been quite a different character. Her boyfriend basically killed by the Doctor (or that's how it would seem to her), she could be very distrustful of him at first (there might be reasons she goes with him rather than just wanting to or wanting to see the universe). She might dislike him quite a lot, and he could be trying to gain her trust and approval. I mean, that would have been interesting, but I also love Martha Jones so much.
If i remember rightly the Human Dalek design was shown before the episode aired and kinda ruined the surprise. In the new who the daleks appearances im noticing were leaked ahead of time in the series
The good thing of being Argentinean in 2010 AND watch Doctor Who 5 years in the new who, is that I never got the spiolers because not many people watched it in that time in my country. I stayed spoiler free I think 'till 2020 "A Spoiler Free Decade" a book by Rouge Argentine 😂
I think Bruce and Clark would like a word with you about your "Martha" comments. :D Frankly (no pun intended), it was the fake accents that damaged this episode. Andrew's was almost passable, but English actors doing American accents rarely works well, with the exception of Hugh Laurie, and Tallulah's is one of the worst captured on screen. I'm sure Miranda did the best she could, but such accents take a lot of time and effort with a dialect coach to get right, and it's doubtful such resources were available given the show's hectic filming schedule.
Ah yes, andrew Garfields accent here is terrible 😂 although I think he can pull off the accent he does in Spiderman 👌🏻 at least I didn't notice he wasn't American when I was growing up 😅😂
you should try watching future eps without looking at the titles, it'll add an extra level of mystery to proceedings and will benefit reactions - think at how surprised you would been when that dalek first came out of the elevator if you hadn't seen the title. Other Who reactors have adopted this approach, please give it some consideration - i promise it'll improve your experience overall.

talkin ish about marthas name then we get all the wacko names in this episode lol. i think freema is nice to look but but i dont like her voice. more so how it breaks when shes excited, scared etc i dunno if thats just her being bad at vocalizing emotions or just a bad over all voice outside her control. and yea good old doctor who spoiling episodes with a title. you could have left daleks for a reveal but its in the damn title lol
The daleks home world is Skaro. They were originally in human form as a race called the kaleds, before Davros genetically engineered them to what they are now.
You should start avoiding the titles, a lot of them are just as spoilery, when first shown that didn't matter because you'd already been spoiled by the trailers, but you're avoiding those so...
Okay, folks-sorry for the kerfuffle. At the suggestion of dave W., I did something I literally never do and deleted the offending message-which apparently takes the entire tree of replies with it. For us mere mortals time only goes forward and deleting messages leaves an incomplete record-and that makes it hard to sort out the facts, so deletion is too cyber a solution for me to consider. Generally. In this case, however, reconsidered and felt Dave’s suggestion the best course. To repeat what I later said (but delete delete deleted) I sincerely regret my error. ✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣✣ The (properly) expurgated original post: Utah (van Staten) with 9. We are truly cursed with Daleks!
Don't forget to hit that like button, subscribe and leave a comment or the Daleks will win 😰
Just a little tip - I'd avoid the cast names in the intro sequences going forward, as they often contain spoilers.
Yes - When the Daleks were destroyed at Canary Wharf the Cult of Skaro were seen doing an emergency temporal shift - this is where they ended up.
"Are this the same pigs from *Aliens of London?* "
No, but it's weird that it happened twice.
These are bigger-people sized.

"Spiderham ! Spiderham !" "Does whatever a spider can."
"They hung out with the cybermen for one day" Got me so hard I spit coffee all over my table. Thanks for the laugh
Yes, Skaro is the Dalek’s home planet, and was in fact the planet where their first story was set back in 1963.

*I am* "groot" *a human Dalek*
that actually broke me, so perfect in such a "serious" scene xDDD
"Martha' is a great name for the beautiful, intelligent & feisty companion.
Location report: Central Park was Bute Park, Central Cardiff.
When they announced Andrew Garfield was going to be Spider-Man, my immediate reaction was "OH MY GOSH I KNOW HIM FROM DOCTOR WHO!"
I didn't get into DW until 2013 but I can only imagine how insane it must've been that the guy who played Frank in the human dalek episode was suddenly Spider Man xD

Love your reactions! So happy you're watching my favourite show!

Daleks can also time travel.
Only the Cult of Skaro I'm pretty sure
@TheNovaBridger they had figured out a way to do it - based on knowledge taken from the 4th doctor in genesis - also a major reason for the time war
@@TheNovaBridgerthe first time we saw them time travel was actually in a First Doctor story, the Chase.
