He definitely knows nothing about Radiohead, and basically relied on their RUclips channel and possibly a quick 2 second Wikipedia check to see what the band members’ names are.
I've had the EOB for almost a year now and I just want to let anybody know who has not used a Fernandes sustainer before that due to its unique circuitry you are always going through the 9V battery whenever you are plugged in regardless if your sustainer is turned on or not thus if your guitar has weak to no output that means that your battery needs to be changed. There's no short and there is nothing wrong with your guitar it just needs a fresh battery. Just wanted to let you guys know so you don't drive yourself crazy if it happens to you👍
I was in a pawn shop in Denver 20+ years ago. Three guys were in there looking for their equipment that was stolen from their trailer the night before. The guy at the counter asked them what band they were in. "We're called Radio Head" A few of us offered to loan them our gear, or track down rental equipment for the show. They declined, stating they had too much going on with the pedals and electronics to continue the show without the equipment from the trailer. This guitar puts that into perspective. It was a pretty cool meeting, but just sad timing to really be excited about meeting them.
LOL at determining popularity of Radiohead, a band that became huge long before RUclips was around by the number of views and subscribers. 😂 (That's a very fine guitar though.)
@@clicheguevara5282 I genuinely wonder what music fans who are 20 or under think/know about Radiohead. e.g. are kids still listening to them as kids in the 90s still did to Pink Floyd? I have no idea.

An Ebow is two battery powered magnets that vibrate the string in between the magnets, which has produced a magnetic field. The light just shows you where you are, and has nothing to do with producing sound. The Sustainer pickup works in the same manner.
Pickups do react to light sometimes. I've had stage lights cause interference. Also if you've ever point a TV remove towards your pickups, the light will produce noise. But I guess that's different
Sweet guitar! I have one of those myself, and the thick neck is probably my favourite thing about it. Love that soft V shape, it's super comfortable to play. And as a fan of the middle pickup (there are about 3 of us world wide) I love that custom single coil!
the thing about the mexican plant is that it seems to keep getting higher and higher in terms of quality, as a matter of fact, i'd have any of the vintera series as my main axe and i'd be perfectly fine with it
I got a Chinese Squier from whatever plant does the "CY" serial - as far as the woodwork goes, it's as good or better than some models I've played costing 4x as much. Even the tuners are decent. The one thing I'd upgrade on it are the pickups, maybe the pots, but I just run them at full open. They are worth checking out for sure.
Really good review of this guitar, way more thorough than the others. Thank you for keeping your playing demo fairly simple and consistent. It’s important to resist the urge to showboat - most others fail at this! Nice work.
Austin, eBows and Sustainers radiate a magnetic field which interacts with the iron in the string to vibrate it. There is no possible way to vibrate a string using light. Otherwise, you'd be able to use an eBow on a classical guitar. Which you can't.
In terms of features, I can't think of a more appealing Strat that I've seen. Great choices by Ed, and I love the fact that the output jack is not on the side, not in the top.
Dude....its radiohead. One of the most influential bands of the last 20 years at least. Love your channel but WTF. Then you say go a check out their music.....we dont need to, we know.Hahahaha
Fender refers to that finish as "Olympic white". "J.B." stands for Jeff Beck. Also significant: it is an EIGHT screw pickguard, as opposed to an 11 screw. Eight screws corresponds to a vintage pickguard configuration. Also worth mentioning is that it is a "spaghetti" logo. Worth mentioning is that it comes stock with only TWO vibrato springs. If there are any extras in the case, folks might wanna know .
Nope, the "JB" designation stands (officially) for Jazz-Blues which has been it's designation since it's commercial release. They'd tried to do a signature pickup model with Jeff Beck and they couldn't come to an agreement on an endorsement deal and Beck thought they were too hot and didn't like them when he had them put into a guitar for him.
I have wanted the Fender EOB since I saw an add for it. Thank you so much for reviewing it. I cant get into Radiohead, but that is irrelevant. That's what I love about signature guitars, I could care less about the artists, the guitars have been given over to someone's consideration. Usually to a positive result. Oh I want this. ( no offense or disrespect meant to Radiohead, I like how in this review they said that EOB doesnt want the guitar to be a imitation piece, but something to inspire creativity.)
I have a Schecter with the Sustainiac and it’s a fun toy. The first position is straight sustain. Position 2 will decay the note to a natural fifth and position 3 is the same, just way more intense. It will go into a harmonic almost immediately, whereas position 2 will be much more gradual. 3 is the crazy solo mode. But what I have learned is even if the unit is off, if it’s still has the lead plugged in, it will drain your 9v battery as if it were on.
Greetings Austin! Today’s video was probably the most fun I have seen you have testing an instrument in a long time. Once you started testing the sustainer it was amusing to see you cut loose with the whammy bar, and the ghost animation indicated that you must have had some fun in the edit room too. Usually, I prefer my electric guitars without batteries, but on occasions, I am willing to put up with an onboard power supply, this guitar seems to qualify for the additional features included. You have a great sense of humor Austin, thanks for posting this video. Please have an excellent and awesome day! 🙂
Been waiting to see you review a sustainer guitar for a while. I'm a huge fan of Def Leppard and Phil Collen's been using one since the 90s (A good example of a solo Phil used it on is Guilty from Euphoria. In the blended mode I think.) Not sure how much I'd enjoy I bought a Burny les paul copy from Japan earlier this year with a sustainer and i love using it. The harmonic mode is especially crazy. Sadly, the Burny only has a 2 position switch for the sustainer, so I miss out on the blended mode. Even then, and after years of hyping myself over it, the sustainer is a gadget I'll be using pretty consistently from now on. Great video as always.
Another example of Phil's playing is when they played at Sheffield in 93. Vivian took Steve Clark's place and Phil and Vivian played Rocket to over 40,000 fans.
Kirk Crump Great duo solo which I never got the chance to see live. Now they play rocket without that bad ass guitar solo :( But in terms of guitar in 1993 Phil didn’t have his Jackson PC1 at the time. Regardless it was still damn good!!
I own 2 Jackson PC1’s and love them. One is retired since I got it signed by Phil and Rick Allen. Hope to one day get the rest of the band to sign it. Check out Breath a Sigh from slang Phil uses his sustainer the most in this song
If you knew about EOB, then you would have let the guitar sustain while messing with the settings on an EH Memory Man pedal, which is what happens on Radiohead concerts.
it’s one of my fav strats for sure. Love RadioHead, they took it to next level. OK Computer/Paranoid Android was a great tune and King of Limbs was an interesting album. I would love to have an EOB strat because i love infinite sustain. I can get it with my DF-2 but not quite the same obviously. thx for sharing Trogly ❤ x0x
Amazing guitar, but the popularity of Radiohead is massive. Way bigger than you made it out to be😂 they released some masterpiece albums and were very experimental, and were one of the first few bands to embrace the internet and social media when it came to releasing music and promoting themselves. Not to mention they are also in the Rock n roll hall of fame. I'm not even the biggest fan of them and I know if they released a song full of the band taking various dumps and shits in the studio, it'd still get praised 😂 (if you were joking though, fair play to you, you have me nearly 100% convinced)
The Sustainer system only works with a humbucker in the bridge position - an S/C doesn't have enough signal to drive the Sustainer (bridge) p/up. Switching on the Sustainer puts the guitar into the bridge position automatically, irrespective of where the selector is.

mike jones I have a couple, including Charvels. They all experience fret sprout in the fall thru winter into spring. Corona must have a low humidity shop when the install and dress the frets. It never happens to my USA Fenders, Charvels, or Jacksons.
I have had this guitar for 18 months and find the sustainer is very good especially for creating loops with effects and then playing lead lines over the loop. The best neck on any Fender - no doubt.
Ok wouldn't quite say fine, maybe just adequate. Trogly should probably have watched a couple of videos of sustainer players to get an idea of how to use them. At first I thought he was just going to keep trying to sustain chords, he finally got the idea to play some single note melody lines but should have tried to make it less boring by adding some finger vibrato or adding some with the whammy. A little research before doing the video might be a good idea.
I have a Vintera Modified 50s Strat with a 2019 seriel, even though when you look it says made very early 2020, lol. I know not all parts are assembled whenever they are made. Got a great deal on it a few months back. Was brand new in my buddy's shop who's an authorized dealer. Since it was new, but had a 2019 seriel he gave me 200 off. I really couldn't say no. But the quality control on it is just flawless. Truly blown away by it, months later still.
15:06-16:04 already sounds like it could be a song in and of itself. You should totally turn it into one, even if its an instrumental only. Edit: 16:05 Great Scott, the sustainer demo also makes great song material too. Mr. Trogly, you're really talented.
Fantastic content as usual. Really inspiring for all us budding RUclipsrs. Keep the amazing videos coming. Also did you check out the EMG David Gilmour pick guard set on a strat?Have had one for the past 10 years and its fab.
I’m totally with Trogly not knowing much about Radiohead. Makes a refreshing change from the “If you don’t like Radiohead, you don’t like music” snobs that they seem to attract.
When this guitar was announced, I spend months trying to get one to no avail. I would up leaning on my feedbacker effect in my Boss GT pedals and then bought a DigiTech FreqOut. I am still impressed with this guitar, though.
Played a second hand one of these, and about 5 of the new professional II starts, and a few player series, etc. Bought this one. Sounded better, felt a LOT better and was a million times more inspiring. This 10/56 neck is a real winner IMO. And yes it's finished and feels nicer than a LOT of the newer US models. Sleeper guitar this.
I love the Strat sounds. I have Stratocaster modified with Seymour Duncan hot rail pickups (easy swap electronics version) and they are amazing. I'd love to try out EOB Strat as well as I own Schecter guitar that has Sustainiac pickups which is awesome to gig with. :) Keep rocking!
Think they've always been pretty amazing to be honest. My brother's 2001 fender strat made in Mexico is 100% better than many of the US fenders I've tried
This Strat seems to have less twang for the clean sounds, but, a much warmer sound for the overdrive and/or distortion chanel... On the other hand, only two springs for the bridge? It seems not to have problems to be on tune after using the tremolo bar, is that correct? Fantastic guitar, as most of Fenders are...
I just ordered one, pretty excited to see what it can do. I'd been looking for one for a few years now and finally, they had 1 and only 1. Price here was 2000$ CDN now so it's been creeping up.
This. Thing. Is. Peeerfect. (I even love that "experimental" back. That's exactly what it is! That IS why we should love it, I suppose.) Either way, cool show, man!
Hey Austin, just FYI: Adam Jones uses a Seymour Duncan Distortion pickup. He said in a relatively recent interview that he has used that pickup for a long time.
Hey Trogly, what amp do you use in this video? I really dig the sound. On the topic of amps, would you ever consider expanding your videos and business to incorporate amplifier reviews, demos, and other helpful info like you do with guitars? I think that would be super cool! Thanks for the cool videos!
The ebow actually creates a magnetic field that causes the string to constantly vibrate. The light is just a guide, but you basically can mimic a sting instrument being "bowed" by moving it closer and further from the pickup changing just how intense the string vibration is. It's super hard to use. I mean...it's super easy to just make it vibrate like a mad man, but to do any type of intricate stuff with it, it is quite difficult to master.
Love your videos trogly you need to do the Jim Root tele and the jazzmaster or the Jim Root Strat keep the videos coming always learning something new from them.
You seemed to get a bit of a grip of the sustainer system later on... I was a bit concerned when initially you were continuously picking through arpeggios rather than letting notes ring or using glissando techniques, which is the real strength of the sustainer or of an Ebow. Good job. 👍🏻
As soon as I heard sustainer, my brain started playing Flying in a Blue Dream by Joe Satriani. That is definitely an interesting guitar, very cool. Are they limited or production?
This was definitely an interesting Stratocaster! Maybe not for everyone... but a good tool.

At first I thought he was just going to keep trying to sustain chords, he finally got the idea to play some single note melody lines but should have tried to make it less boring by adding some finger vibrato or adding some with the whammy. A little research before doing the video might be a good idea.
It was the opposite of fire, it's obvious he has no idea how to use it (and he even says it himself several times)
Alan Thompson ah yeah i get it. I guess sustainer sounds great no matter what. But i love the way he made a Hendrix like dive at the end.
Great visual effects in this video. Love it!
Awsome demo you did great with the sustaner sounded pretty cool
Was looking for a review of this with the Halo theme in it! 😂
did you play the halo theme at the end of the demo ? that really caught me off guard
This reminded me of Big Bang Theory Sheldon Cooper having an argument with Penny about who's Radiohead! 🤣
So many epic songs. I'll never understand why Creep is the song people identify Radiohead with.
Very similar to a Vintera 50’s Modified. The price difference is less than the cost of the JB and Sustainer system. Pretty good value here.
This model started peaking my interest a while back. I really want one now.
*piquing
@@lptomtom lol, good looking.
15:06-16:04 already sounds like it could be a song in and of itself.
You should totally turn it into one, even if its an instrumental only.
Edit: 16:05 Great Scott, the sustainer demo also makes great song material too. Mr. Trogly, you're really talented.
Most dentists don't care about cavities as much as Trogly does. Keep up the good work
Trogly I liked that elephant edit
It was fucking awesome
Great touch with that "Lost Horizon" intro glimpse
Trogly at 2:05 - “Everything in its Right Place”
Been waitin on this one😊
Fantastic content as usual. Really inspiring for all us budding RUclipsrs. Keep the amazing videos coming. Also did you check out the EMG David Gilmour pick guard set on a strat?Have had one for the past 10 years and its fab.
Thanks for telling everybody who Radiohead are.
It's the best distortion sounding Stratocaster I've heard....without help from a pedal
I want this guitar. Out of all the guitars I see on your channel for some reason I'm loving everything about this 🎸 guitar.
18:29 Yes! I recognise that tune!
I’m totally with Trogly not knowing much about Radiohead. Makes a refreshing change from the “If you don’t like Radiohead, you don’t like music” snobs that they seem to attract.
I have a friend who had never heard of David Bowie, it's possible
When this guitar was announced, I spend months trying to get one to no avail. I would up leaning on my feedbacker effect in my Boss GT pedals and then bought a DigiTech FreqOut. I am still impressed with this guitar, though.
Awesome guitar, also radio head is in the hall if fame and is one of the biggest bands in the world think that have sold over 60million records
Loved that you throwed the Halo theme in there! =D
:) Keep rocking!
just me or have the Mexico made Strat quality been superb over the last few years ? every one i've picked up so far has felt fantastic.
Think they've always been pretty amazing to be honest. My brother's 2001 fender strat made in Mexico is 100% better than many of the US fenders I've tried
Great guitar for fans of Radiohead I guess ! I wonder if they do a Jonny Greenwood Tele ? UK price is currently £969 Inc VAT . Great review Austin.
one can only wish...
I liked the sustainer demo. you should do all your clean demos of that clean, finger picky style.
Radiohead are absolutely massive. Hugely influential. I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic; their RUclips plays doesn't really mean much.
Awesome review! Would have liked to see a bit more of the sustainer like you said though.
Really unique Strat! Now I need to go watch Radiohead in action with this. Cheers!
5:53 it's a secret code used by all Radiohead fans. everyone knows that :P
PLEASE do the malcolm young gretsch review...
That IS why we should love it, I suppose.)
Either way, cool show, man!
It sure seemed pretty obvious you were having fun with the sustainer!
Hey Austin, just FYI: Adam Jones uses a Seymour Duncan Distortion pickup. He said in a relatively recent interview that he has used that pickup for a long time.
I like that you're using the chapter index at the bottom of the video by the time slider bar😃
I am still hoping for a review of the Gretsch Malcolm Young guitar
He'll probably have to explain to us what AC/DC is! :D
@@Pandamasque why would he have to do that
@@Pandamasque - he probably won't know who AC/DC is.😎
@@DiscoScottie who Trogly?
@@Klang4evre Trogly who?.
Trogly's in the HOUSE!!!
Hey Trogly, what amp do you use in this video? I really dig the sound. On the topic of amps, would you ever consider expanding your videos and business to incorporate amplifier reviews, demos, and other helpful info like you do with guitars? I think that would be super cool! Thanks for the cool videos!
Loving your ghost graphics!
Damn
That's a fucking cool strat
I didn't even notice the output jack wasn't there until you said it lmao
Good job. 👍🏻
Kick-Ass visual special effects man. Somebody give this man an Oscar
As soon as I heard sustainer, my brain started playing Flying in a Blue Dream by Joe Satriani. That is definitely an interesting guitar, very cool. Are they limited or production?
I remember this signature started as a modded Eric Clapton sig.
