The fact that they don’t have/don’t utilize a strong TE is very telling. This doesn’t solve everything but it is a crucial component people should recognize and point out. Idk why they’ve dropped the ball on that position.
If they are not going to hand the ball off then Shedeur needs to make the defense pay for so aggressively going downhill on him. Pull it down and get positive yards. Doesn’t have to be a home run. 5 or six yards and slide or run out of bounds. That will start to slow that rush down and make it easier on the o line. Any o line would struggle in this situation were there is no run threat. It’s NOT the o line.jj
First time viewer and new subsciber here! You are the FIRST RUclips college football channel to breakdown the offensive packages of the Colorado Buffs. Big kudos on that analysis! Buffs OC Shurmur play calling in VERY vanilla. He's an old school coach trying to be successful in a new school college football landscape. There are way too many easy tells on offense that makes it easy on opposing defenses. There's no creativity on offense. There's little to no motion, perimeter runs or end-arounds. You can't keep running Offerdahl at 190 lbs into the middle of the defense! Haden is bigger and more talented rb. Why didn't Coach Prime hire a seasoned college football OC? Why hire a "washed" NFL coach? Why hire an assistant O-line coach from Oklahoma when a proven O-line coach is needed to bring proven leadership to the most vulnerable and criticized unit on this team? Coach Prime's coaching choices are very puzzeling to say the least. This is college football NOT the NFL. If the Buffs can't beat CSU this weekend, they'll probably win 4/5 games this season. No Heisman consideration for Shedeur. Travis may get some Heisman votes. A one dimensional offensive team is just way too easy to defend against no matter how good they may be.
They need and can use a big fullback to run the ball and help block and protect the quarterback and a two tight end scheme with a blocking tight end. Also the center and the guards have to have do a better job communicating and helping each other against bigger and faster Defense linemen.
It’s not the OC fault because they running the same offense as last year, and it’s a new coordinator which means these schematic decisions are coming from the top down to show off the qb arm. It’s obvious and if you can’t see that you should not report on sports. Also, the oc is not putting the o line in harms way, the qb is by holding the ball too long playing hero ball.
I disagree on one thing, the scheme puts too much pressure on the o line as there is no pre-snap motion, not even a TE in the line up. Extremely predictable
Its a setup... The arm of Shadeur is what CU relies on and a couple of receivers catching unbelievable passes. It's fantasy football for a Heisman award. The Defense is so worn out by the time the half comes around they end up getting injured.
Lets look at 7:16 seconds for a moment. Notice how number 18 is not touched, and he runs around the entire line. Once he does that, all three of the lineman, Center, Guard, and Tackle key in on their Right Tackle, who is not even trying to get the QB. Number 18 simply runs around them. My questions are whose man is that, and is that the fault of coaching, or of the OF Tackle for letting someone go around him? Does anyone know? Perhaps it's the OG. But it's almost as if once he ran off to the right everyone forgot about him. Like oh well, I guess he is gone, let's all get this tackle. Watch it in slow motion and you will see what I mean.
..cu has spent more time practicing/playing to throw more than run...wr room is full...rb room is good but not used n as receiver option for versatility...where's the tight end(s)?...portal players had better learn real fast as division/league play begins...keep a suitcase packed; louie or not...
Shurmur is a carryover from last season. He playcalled atleast three or four of CU's last games. It is Shurmur. I would think if Shurmur could design a variety of schemes and play calls he would have done so by now. After the first or second touchdown Nebraska made, commonsense would tell him it was not working. So what else is there to say? Although CU was close to winning more games last season, "close to" is not the same as winning. Camp was the time to identity the strengths and weaknesses of the personnel and make adjustments accordingly. Players make mistakes, that's a given. Coaches are suppose to make the necessary adjustments regardless.
@@jacksonjb18 that's your assumption that Coach Prime is limiting Shurmur. Perhaps its Shurmur's idea. Ultimately, Shurmur is responsible because he is the OC.. Have you looked at Shurmur's record in the NFL?
@@reggaefan2700 As if this is any better?? CU loss a game they could have and should have won against Nebraska. With the NDSU, CU you nearly loss that game. Mind you, Shurmur has been calling plays since the latter part of last season...Where's the progress?
Colorado needs to become a team. For now they're just a few dudes and everybody else. The Sanders aren't in it for the team, but for themselves. That's never going to work. It starts at the top. The culture in Boulder is a disaster!
There is absolutely no creativity. It is almost as if you're giving the other team your playbook and daring them to stop you. How is that working out so far? Pat shurmer is a dinosaur, and Deon Sanders needs a younger offensive mind on the job.
All of a sudden, everybody can coach (from the couch)🤔 Listen, in football, you're gonna lose some games - ask these ranked teams NotreDame, Kansas and Iowa...
It's pretty simple though especially if you played football before. When you don't play a TE and have zero presnap motion you are extremely predictable and will get your qb killed

Cause Prime wouldn't allow the OC to bring in his staff. Prime wanted him to use Prime's staff, and an OC worth his salt wasn't't having that.

Good sound analysis!
Break down a Nebraska game like that. Good job

I agree …..the one constant is the same Head Coach …and put the ball in “2” ‘s hands…..
No one wants to blame Prime or Shedeur.
I knew he didn't know much when he said they should have won.

Facts
The players are too cocky and undisciplined. That program is a complete mess. It is all about money and three players getting all the attention.
I think they need to do a series of bubble screens and wildcat with hunter & horn jr.. shedeur needs to be in pistol.. double TE formations..

I do think the offense is a little vanilla and needs to be a little more creative.
It's not the OCs fault if the QB keeps changing the play. Defenses are waiting until the 15 sec communication ends then shifting the Defense.

All I know is that I have plenty of snacks for Saturday against CSU😂
Last year it was the old OC's fault. This year it's the new OC's (Pat Schurmur) fault. When will it be Shedeur's or Prime's fault?
